Interesting analysis! I have a friend who worked at NASA, she's an engineer. For 10yrs she's been over looked for promotions and opportunities, but she has moved on to the Dot where she says it is complete transformation, she loves her job.

My wife turned down a nursing position job at the VA because of work/life balance. Most nurses work six 12 hour shifts a week. The VA wanted her to work an additional 8 hour shift a pay to bring her up to 80 hours worked. Yes she would have been paid for the time, but she decided she would rather have the 26 extra days off a year. Edit, nurses work six 12 hour shifts a pay (72 hours), not 6 shifts a week.
Really enjoying your content. I am a schedule a applicant just applied for NASA, but wasn’t sure which locations are best for schedule A to thrive in. Worked years ago for SSA it was the worst experience of my life. Was scrutinized and announced to coworkers that out of the three new hires I was the schedule a. I was micromanagement and harassment to a level that was traumatizing. Don’t want that experience again. Any suggestions?
Bureau of Prisons sucks. The management wants to bully staff and get upset when you're not intimated. The director wants to believe that inmates are just misunderstood and could care less about staff. The only good things are the retirement, health insurance, and thats about it.
Yes, that ranking survey should be some type of indicator of where to or not to work if it is publicly available that is. That survey in all reality could be used to spot abuses within agencies and perhaps shed a light on perpetrators in office.
I hooe the fed agency resprcts the confidentiality of these employee surveys. I recall a manager calling out a subordinate in front ofbother employees for responding negatively in a " confidential" employee satisfaction survey. Ever since i fudge on the upper end of satisfaction surveys.
An option for you would be the U.S. Army Audit Agency. It is not a great place in my opinion but it might be an improvement for you. You have to be near one of our field offices and I imagine you would already meet the educational requirements. Coming from the IRS, I would suggest asking for the Financial Audits team. Some teams should be avoided at all costs. Near out and ask if you want. The agency starts you at GS-7 for 1 year, then you get auto promoted to GS-9 for 1 year, then you get auto promoted to GS-11 for 1 year, then you get auto promoted to GS-12 where you stay. GS-13 positions are competitive but you don't want it anyway. It is the worst role in the agency. Financially, it is a huge step up for you. Check it out. I am looking at audit positions with the VA because I want off my team and my team is a "black hole" so they wont move anyone. But that is not every team.
I currently work for the VA and even though I possess several college degrees, have been unable to move up. The VA has put a freeze on hiring, and it's quite obvious that those who move into higher positions are through nepotism, cronyism, and favoritism.
I currently work for the IRS (who likes to think they are the NSA) and it is maybe the least professional, and least organized place I have ever worked.
The agencies that pay more than GS- AGENCIES- National SECURITY EXCHANGE, FDIC, TREASURY, CONSUMER FINANCIAL PROTECTION BUREAU . Apply and thank me later😊

Right where it belongs, at the bottom. Been there for 6 years and confirm it's a dump. Toxic management, especially the director. Great retirement but high rates of mental health issues and divorce.
I applied for the VA for the HR assistance contact center in Denver Colorado. How long does it take to hear back after interview is done. I got the email saying I qualify and would like to do a interview.
Usually between 1 - 3 weeks after the interview is completed. If it has been over 3 weeks, I would send a follow up email to the human resources person asking for a status update.
There is NO work life balance at SSA. They just write that on paper. Nobody gives a blip about your work life balance there. Also, Outdated technology, horrendous training, a lot of nepotism and ego-driven manipulative toxic management. Not surprised they are the worse agency to work for.
Is your perspective only from a GS-12 and up? That is not a complete assessment. I work for the VA in Puerto Rico. I am Medical Support Assistant and the work balance is not that great. With an Masters degree they gave me a GS-3 as a starting point, when all you need is a high school degree. It seems that education is not even taken into consideration when hiring in this agency. Also, for me life and work balance includes vacation. How is it balanced when you work 355 days of the year and only have 10 days off? Pay raise is important but in these times so is mental health, Why don't we have more vacation days?
Hi Armand. I love your videos and I've watch most of them ever since i found your channel. I have a non-related question please. So I got on the spot offer for a VSR position with VBA back in feb.. with my experience and graudate education, i was qualified for G-S 9. But, 3 weeks ago they finally sent out the tentative offer, but it was for a GS-7. I was at a lost to say the least. I reached out to the POC listed on the T-offer letter. She said, "That there was a last min change to the hiring process, that everyone coming as VSR will start at the lowest grade offered regardless of Qualification. Well..i wactched your video on steps negotiation, so i accepted the offer and sent a negotiation later for GS-7, 10.., my email was completely ignored and i didn't get no acknowledgement or whatsoever. I received the final offer yesterday and nothing changed. They whole things just weaken my spirit completely, i have till 15th to accept the official offer and I dont know what to do. I just got out the Army this past Dec, and i just dont want to take a job just to take a job..i dont know if i should just keep applying or just accept the offer that already made me so sad. My question is, if i get a better job offer within the federal government can i leave at anytime? How does that work in a federal job settings..please advise. I'd appreciate any input. You can leave the government or accept a better job offer at anytime. Thanks for watching.
