I love that you have chosen the pink for the colorwork on the yoke of your sweater. It reads as a dark rose on my screen which is quite pretty with the grey main color.
Thanks very much for another lovely podcast, Sandra. Bertie is so cute. I agree that it feels better to work steadily on one project until it is finished despite all the other projects crying out to be done and the ever-increasing yarn stash - despite all the resolutions to buy no more yarn!!
Thank you Sandra for another lovely visit with you! I'm always so happy to hear your theme music start and know I'm about to sit and knit with a friend and visit in your cheerful studio. It's always the most lovely experience and I thank you for taking the time to keep putting the podcast together. So excited to see how your crochet shawl takes shape, and the colour work jumper too. I think with colour work it can sometimes be a bit of a leap of faith to in the beginning, since all those stranded stitches look so messy and bunched up and it's hard to see how it will all look beautiful in the end. I think you're right in treating it as a learning experience and if you end up with something you'll like to wear, even better! ❤️❤️ Looking forward to your next broadcast and sending love and best wishes!
Oh you are so very kind, thank you! ☺️ Yes I think you are right with the colourwork being a leap of faith, it certainly feels that way right now. I'm hoping that blocking will work a magic trick and smooth away all my poor stranding sins. 😂 Thank you for being here Daki, it's always appreciated. ❤️
I can't wait for the binding border tutorial! I'm almost done with my Batenberg blanket and I would love to try your technique. Thanks for all the inspiration ❤✨✨!
Your colourwork looks beautiful, I hope the yarn will work for you. Love the mondial yarns so pretty especially that fade, it looks so pretty in the braid I’d be scared to take it apart lol. Stay safe love and hugs xx
I’m here 🙋🏻♀️ 😄 Love the progress on the jumper so far, I love the colours! You can use the peach for another colour work jumper 🫣 Especially love Bertie in his cute little crochet jumpers! xx
I can’t say it enough- it’s just such a treat to spend time with someone so relatable who’s focused on creativity and beauty. It’s reassuring and inspiring. Pardon the pun, but I’m hooked 😊
Hi Sandra, it is a delight when you put up a video. I always enjoy visiting with you and seeing all your lovely crafting projects. I prefer your knitting and crochet patterns and tutorials to anyone. ❤ I always feel really happy and encouraged about crafting after I watch your podcast.☀️ I appreciate all the hard work and effort you put into your videos. I am really looking forward to your crochet star quilt pattern. I hope you have a lovely week with your sweet family.🌸🌼 I think spring is just around the corner.
Oh you are kind, honestly I'm so grateful for this today! ☺️ Honestly sometimes I do really waffle such rubbish I feel like I must stop making these podcasts and you say such lovely things and make me feel better! ☺️❤️
Been a fan for a while now. You are one of my four favorites, along with Gaga Knits, Simply in Stitches snd Craft House Magic. Alwys get excited when you have a new podcadt out!
I truly love your podcasts! I am always very happy to see a new video notification next to your name! Watching your podcasts is one of my favorite ways to spend my free time. I am so impressed with your crafting that I was amazed to hear you question your colorwork ability and yarn choices for your jumper. I look forward to seeing your progress with your shawl. The yarn color is beautiful, and the finished project will be stunning!! Thank you for taking the time to create your podcasts, I am a huge fan!
Oh thank you so much, that does mean a lot, it really does! I suppose a little self doubt is normal, but honestly sometimes when I edit these things I wonder why I make them. But you do make me feel much better about it I have to say! ☺️❤️
Thankyou for another lovely podcast Sandra. I loved seeing Bertie and hearing his story. We said goodbye to our black and tan miniature dachshund Chippa just a few weeks ago, she was 13 years old, we had her from a pup.
I loved the beautiful package you got - the yarn was beautiful. Hearing about Bertie was so nice and I love it when he shakes his head while pulling on his blanket. My dachshound does the same thing. Anyway, enjoyed the podcast and looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Sandra, I always enjoy your podcast! You made me smile about having just three WIPs, as I am trying to resist starting a new crochet project despite having several on the go (or in 'stalled' mode 😅). My sister agrees that you need three too...one that's small/portable, one complex/challenging, and one that's simple/relaxing so you can still watch TV while doing it! Look forward to the next episode ( I'm a bit behind)
I love your philosophy on the colour work as Good practice even if it's not wearable. Ill take that philosophy on, my immediate reaction to any tiny blip is to frog it.
Always a joy to see what you’re up to. I’m looking forward to your craft room tour. Funnily enough I went back and watched your last one a few days ago because I’m trying to sort my room out and was looking for inspiration. Xxx
Thank you so much for your podcast. I follow you from Norway and enjoy it very much ❤. I enjoy crochet and knitting, but likes everything of craft you show us ❤
@@CherryHeart I love it here, but we have long and hard winters. Spring, summer and early autumn are lovely. A lot of nice nature and of course a lot of nice wool and knitting designers. You should visit Lofoten or Helgeland some time in the summer with midnight sun. It is so beautiful, but of course the weather must be nice. July/august is nice and rent a car so you can travel a round or go to places where you can travel by boat. ❤💙🇳🇴
A lovely podcast as always. I remember when Bert was just a little pup, he is as adorable now as he was then! I have 5 projects on the hook now and am beginning to fret over which I should be working on......so today I'll pick one and see if I can finish it this week. Oh and your new shawl is gorgeous, colorway and knitting are beyond my skills but I love the colors on yours, I think the rosy color is perfect. Enjoy the school break with your daughter, they grow up so quickly.
Oh goodness, you've been here a long time then, and thank you for that! Yes, the time is going so fast it's hard to believe really. It's lovely to be able to spend more time with her while I still can. ☺️❤️
Hello from Bristol ! I’d like to say it’s sunny but sadly not… I’m totally at the mercy of my ‘make me!make me!’ Brain haha 😂😂 love watching you so yes it is totally worth doing - see you next time 😊😊
Agree about the alpaca and the row gauge problem. Swatch swatch swatch. Yes - I hear the "Make Me Now" in my head as well. But lately, I feel the need to consolidate the list. I just turned a very large stole project into a cowl and it felt great to be done. I'm currently finishing one of the 5 pairs of socks on the needles before I skein up a beautiful skein that just arrived in the mail, which would surely jump on the needles if I got it to that point. Who knows, next month I may cast on all of the things again.
Don’t usually watch You Tube on a device - only on TV but after listening to your opening today I couldn’t resist leaving a comment so grabbed my phone. HELLO, I’M HERE. I’M WATCHING AND I ENJOY YOUR PODCASTS VERY MUCH. Keep up the good work Sandra. 👋
Ahh thank you!! ☺️ Yes, I do the same, watch on tv mostly and then forget to comment. Try to remember to keep my phone handy and comment too, but you know how it is! 😉☺️❤️
It was fun to hear about Bertie’s story! He has bags of character 😊 And I definitely get the tug of war between wanting to make allll of the things, but also not wanting to end up overwhelmed by allll of the things! 😄
Oh I know exactly how you feel about all those crafty ideas buzzing round in my head. Sometimes I cant even sleep because of it !. I used to think I could only have one project on the go, be it sewing or knitting or crochet. TH-camrs have me 'permission' to have more than one 🙄🤣
I'm exactly like you. I can have a maximum of 2 knitting projects on the needles. Any more and it stresses me! I enjoy casting on, knitting, seeing progress and finishing the item off. And casting on the next project straight away. 😄 I feel like I accomplish something! It amazes me how many knitters have several projects on the needles. It just doesn't work for me.
Yes, that was my way too, before I started Instagramming and podcasting at least. I think it's the best way for me too, I need to see consistent progress! But I've slipped into having more things on the go. I suppose it seems awkward to me to just talk about one thing on the podcast, or have one thing to photo for Instagram. But I kind of don't like that I've changed to accommodate these outside influences! 😏❤️
I think the sweater is going to be just fine. I made an Ingalls sweater in red and white Flora and the colorwork is beautiful. It did not stretch, the yarn has a nice grip that made the two colors stay put together.
Oh that is good to know! Hopefully mine will be ok too then. I’ve stopped to block the colourwork and it does look a lot better for it, so that’s something!
I love that you don’t just talk about knitting or crocheting or stitching. You combine them all and are an inspiration for me and many others, I am sure. Every month that changes I am thankful I found your podcast. You encouraged me to make my own monthly calendar I found in Cross-stitch magazine after I saw yours. It was a series of houses with the yard decorated to match the month. I watch and enjoy each video you post from my home in Southern Maryland USA. ~Cynthia
Oh thank you, that's very kind! The cross stitch houses sound wonderful. I did something similar, but with seasons. Well I say that, I only got as far as the Spring house, but I probably originally intended to do more. ☺️❤️
Agree with you about all the wips. I have so many wishes to make, but tend to stop making and start a new one and never get back! I do much better at finishing when I'm monogamous! Love your story about Bertie!❤
Bertie looked so cute and cosy in his little valentines jumper. The shawl is looking like it's going to be lovely and summery, perfect over a dress or nice strappy top. I know what you mean about feeling overwhelmed if there are too many WIPs on the go, I tend to only work on 2 or 3 things at a time, even if there are more things that are on the needles/hooks.
Hello Sandra!! Caught this one literally right after it dropped as I was having my own down time at the table after tea.. lovely!! Thank you so much for sharing your work and the background of your beautiful Bertie. Funny you called your last chapter outro waffle 😄, trust me, it's fun and totally relatable and relevant! Wish time would stretch out to accommodate our projects, yet not take up a good part of the days❤️ Looking forward to your next vid, take care and God bless! Lin😊
Hi Sandra 👋 thanks so much for the mention, that was very kind of you. I was looking forward to this episode to see how you had gotten on. Despite our gauge and yarn discussion, I think it's turning out rather well! Good luck with it, I'll be crossing my fingers for you. One thing I forgot to ask you is whether your swatches bloomed a little after washing? If they did, the stranded colour will fill in and settle down after blocking and look better than it does when it's on the needles. I'd forgotten that particular design had the top up yoke with the body knitted off the provisional cast on, so I'm curious to see how it turns out for you. As you say, one way or t'other, it will be a lesson. Bernie looks very smart in his new coat! I liked his other new coats from last episode too. He's going to have quite the wardrobe! Xx
Yes I'm still hopeful that this version might work out ok, but I'm feeling surprisingly ok with the idea that it may just be a practice run. I'm dying to make something with a more appropriate 'woolly' yarn too. Just to explore the differences and see how it will knit up and effect my tension and so on. The swatches did relax nicely, but only really bloomed a little I would say. Wondering if it will be enough to cover my colourwork sins tho... 😂 We will see and of course, I will be keeping you posted! xx
The "just quickly" thing gets me starting something way to often... And all attempts to teach myself that none of this yarny making is quick continue to fail. Love seeing what you are up to, thanks so much for making the considerable effort...
Hi Sandra, love the open work shawl’ very pretty! You do beautiful work , I love your channel! When doing the color work do you have bobbins and what kind? I love your dog, I had one just like her and the coat for him is lovely!
Thank you so much! No I didn't have any bobbins or anything. This is just two colours (apart from one or two rows) so I hold one colour in each hand and have one ball either side of me, so at least there is no problems with tangles to worry about! Ahh they do have a beautiful colour coat don't they? ❤️
I love watching your videos - definitely worth bothering with 😂. The shawl is gorgeous. I’ll be waiting for the pattern for that! Downloading the notes/pattern for the dog coat as we speak. Bertie is the same age as our G (miniature dachschund too). Thought they might be brothers but G isn’t pedigree as he’s a mix of straight and curly haired It was lovely hearing how story. I prefer to have just one wip at a time but I get very impatient wanting to start more but then I feel I can’t cope with lots of things on the go at the same time xxx
I’ll happily take all the blame. To me it looks great, my colour work is always bumpy but it seems to settle in more and more as I wear things. I’m reknitting the neck on mine now as it was giant so watch out for that if you do the neck. Xxx
Oh well that's some comfort, because yours looked really good to me. I'm hoping the power of blocking will work some magic for me. I've heard that's it's supposed to do wonders for colourwork. 🤞 Just about to start the neck so will see how it goes!
One thought on the colorwork jumper - perhaps if you continue the yoke to the point before separating and the colorwork looks good (which I think it does now!) but you don’t think the fit will be right , might it work as a (for lack of a better term) a shoulder cozy?
Hello Sandra. Loved the colourwork. Hey - it’s handmade so ‘mistakes’ add to its charm. I think that’s what puts me off starting a little Etsy shop as I know a lot of people nowadays expect total perfection. I’ve changed my mind and now doing the Battenberg Blanket. I’m doing exactly what I said I wouldn’t - start another project! Now got a knitted shawl, a quilt as you go hexie blanket inspired by Emma of Vintage Sewing Box, the Battenberg and some zippered pouches that I want to make for Christmas! presents. Bertie looks gorgeous in his Valentine jumper. Yes - I remember Sam of Betsy Makes. Miss her podcasts. Do you think she would make a joint one-off special with you again? Know what you mean about Instagram - I count myself very lucky to get 15 likes as it’s not exactly exciting stuff going on here. 😂. We all notice your work and it was you who put me on my crafting journey. Been quite a few years now and you always inspire. Lesley xxx
Thank you so much Lesley! Ha ha, all the makes going on, I love it! There are so many pretty things and temptations aren't there? So hard to resist sometimes. ☺️ I actually saw Sam the other day and I mentioned this idea to her and she was keen for it too, so watch this space! ;)
LOLOL On the last podcast I was so confused about the yarn you were using vs. all of the indigo dye on the wool and the forest website. Now that you are done testing and using the real yarn it all makes sense now. By the way can you share what stitch book you are using.
Ha ha, yes it was a bit of a strange choice for the testing really. As for that book, it's a Japanese one so I'm not sure what it's called, but I'll try and remember to show it on the next podcast! ❤️
I love your imitation of your husband’s helpful chime-in on the dog vs. gerbil acquisition. Men are so helpful. 🤔 You missed your standup comedy calling, I think. And “serving suggestions” for pattern ideas! Brilliant! I will be quoting you with that one from now on. Good luck to my LYS customers. They already hear “jiggery-pokery” when I fix their knitting messes. I feel ever so sophisticated, don’t you know? 😉 I didn’t know if that was a Brit thing or a Sandra thing, but then I heard Andrew of @albanachknitter say it, and mystery solved. It’s legit. 👌 Have you discovered him yet? He’s a hoot. And he uses the same theme music as you, so it’s a nice, familiar vibe to hear it. I’m always delighted to spend time with you in your podcasts. By the way … any updates on the neighbor’s Stanley doppelgänger and Bertie? That is to say Happily Just Bertie. 😉 Isn’t that just perfect? 🥰 All my love … 💗
Ha ha, I do love a bit of a laugh, and it's one of those 'cover my awkward shyness' things too I think! ☺️ Ah yes, jiggery-pokery is oft said around these parts, must indeed be a Brit thing. We have a lot of cross pollination of terms scattered through our languages, especially in this internet age, it's nice to hear that all the ones that are unique too. I haven't heard of Andrew, but I'll be checking it out now. I've just read his You Tube bio... sounds very promising! ;)
I think shoulders should not be too stretchy. When you make your own clothes I prefer a stable shoulder. The entire sweater weight relies heavily on the shoulder design. So on a round yoke neck design it has the least support and the design typically will stretch and row cage is important to not stretch, where the color work is. Especially if you can’t get gage. The issue is that row gage will grow and give you even less rows per inch if thats the direction of your not meeting gage. Non super-wash and strong fibers would technically be is the best choice for the shoulders of sweaters, impo. BUT; You do you. 😊 I’ve talked to people that say they never use anything but super-wash and like stretchy shoulders. So who is anyone to tell you what you should do, lol😊 Enjoy your knitting, thanks for sharing.
Makes total sense. This is definitely one of those learning curve projects. It may work out or it may well not, but I think either way I’ll get something from it. ☺️
Love your podcast!! I am not a knitting pro but I have been knitting on and off for over 53 years. I think you are being much too hard on yourself where your knitting is concerned. Your color work is lovely. I love the colors but you are the one who must love the colors when it’s all said and done. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next with your knitting. Love Birdie such a precious pup. I have been owned by several Miniature Dachshunds during my lifetime. 😂😊❤
Oh thank you so much, you are very kind. Yes you are probably right, there is probably an element of me being my own worst critic. We do tend to do that don't we?! Ha ha, you did make me laugh, with the 'owed by' several dachshunds. That is so right! 😂
I love that you have chosen the pink for the colorwork on the yoke of your sweater. It reads as a dark rose on my screen which is quite pretty with the grey main color.
I’ve watched u for years. I don’t knit but crochet and beginner quilter. Love watching !
Always enjoy your podcasts, love little Bertie.
Lovely to see you, and your progress :) Your quiet moments mini-vlogs are so wonderful. And Bertie deserves a scritch from all of us :)
The indigo yarn is absolutely stunning in the stitch pattern you've chosen.
Love the pattern for the indigo yarn, its suits the pattern so well. You make such beautiful things, always look forward to your podcasts.
Thanks very much for another lovely podcast, Sandra. Bertie is so cute. I agree that it feels better to work steadily on one project until it is finished despite all the other projects crying out to be done and the ever-increasing yarn stash - despite all the resolutions to buy no more yarn!!

Wish time would stretch out to accommodate our projects, yet not take up a good part of the days❤️
Looking forward to your next vid, take care and God bless!
Lin😊
Great timing! Ha ha, my podcasts are always lots of waffle, but thank you I'm glad it's at least not wholly rubbish! ☺️😂
@@CherryHeart quite the opposite, 'tis wholly good stuff!❤️
Ha ha, we never learn do we?! 😂❤️
Thank you so much! Ha ha, yes I'm the same with projects really, but I seem unable to stick to it these days. 🤦♀️
Oh that's interesting, hadn't thought of that but I shall keep it in mind! ❤️
I think the shawl I’ll be gorgeous! The color work will be great when you block it😁
Hello Sandra.
I've just read his You Tube bio... sounds very promising! ;)
Okay. If this doesn’t fit you I’ll buy it from you. So no worries, carry on.💖
Ha ha, good to know! 👍😂
I’ve talked to people that say they never use anything but super-wash and like stretchy shoulders.
All this stuff comes out aferbmy girlfirend passed after 30 years
She would have loved it
