  • Snake Mountain in Ratchaburi Thailand is a real up and coming tourist destination. It used to be a quarry but has been turned into a spectacular public park.
A suspension bride and footpath take you along a lake that’s beautifully framed by jagged mountain peaks to a raised pavilion with tranquil views back across the lake.
The other side of Snake Mountain is a bit more adventurous and takes more energy to explore the stairs that take you up to various Temples, caves, viewpoints and a Buddha footprint. This side is also the home of many monkeys.
Presented in 4K HDR with Dolby Vision for those with compatible equipment (including most Iphones from the past few years) but will automatically play in standard definition, up to 4K on standard setups. This video has been reposted because the HDR was processed on the first posting.

You’ve definitely seen more of Thailand than most Thais Karl! I’m very impressed that you could find all these places…. Thanks once again for sharing your wonderful video 😊

Thanks Marietta, it’s amazing how little of their own country most Thai people get to see. My pleasure

Thanks very much Bangkok Musings, they’ve certainly done a great job of making something beautiful and useful from a disused quarry

Cheers Martin, fishing has taken off here big time mate. These days you even see people fishing with the proper kit up in Issan. 30 years ago it would have been a stick with string and a worm. Hope you are well?

Yes, it’s very nice Brian. Ratchaburi is about 100kms west of Bangkok on the way to Hua Hin

@@karlsthailand Yeah I know that area but not this location. Sad I've been here 16 years driven countless times that way to our rental properties in HH and Cha Am. Didn't know of it.
Similarly 2 months ago stumbled up.on some fantastic caves literally just off the highway south of Buriram just across the border into Sae kow heading towards Chantanaburi. Excellent find!

As usual your Vlogs are top notch. Why for Buddha sake can't you find things that don't kill people off with all those bloody steps.

    • @karlsthailand

Lol Frederick. Actually most visitors don’t bother hiking up the stairs to the caves and viewpoints, they just walk around the lake but that wasn’t adventurous enough for us

Yes Thomas, they’ve done a good job of making something useful from a disused quarry and it’s only come about in recent years apparently

That's about right in my backyard. Beautiful spot. Great views and really unique-looking geology for the area, but we missed that 2nd entrance when we were there! Thank's for the vid, Karl.

You can't resist those staircases! The day we went, we had already walked quite a bit and weren't up for the climb (we actually went in that 2nd entrance). Really nice spot.

      @karlsthailand  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes Jim, they’ve turned a quarry into a very pleasant looking park. Tbh I never found the lake adventurous enough so I was quite happy to hump it up and down a couple of staircases just to feel I’d had a workout lol

Good job, Karl. In hindsight, I wish I put a bit of the lake in my vid.

You only shot the lake the first day didn’t you? You should have asked me for some footage as I never used my stuff from our first visit (I can convert HDR to 4K easy enough, just not the other way)
