    Cautionary note. There were significant issues with the Cento 10 NDR with seized bolts and complete lack of support from Wilier. In addition it is impossible to secure replacement Actiflex Elastomers for the Cento 10 NDR. Wilier removed the Wilier ZenDesk US system which was the only platform where you could register issues and the majority of those registered issues were with the Cento10 NDR Actiflex system. Attempts to get support resulted in a complete lack of help even though the bike was under guarantee. In the end I had to fabricate my own bolts. Given Wilier stated there was no issue with the Cento 10 NDR it is interesting to note I sold 50 pairs of bolts to owners in UK, France, Spain, Portugal and the US. It is also interesting to not the system has now been relocated away from road grit and dirt. A tacit acceptance of the error made with the NDR. Don't get me wrong the NDR is a lovely bike to ride and looks good however failing to support customers is a significant (and ongoing issue) with Wilier. Given the cost of these bikes such issues are a major issue I would suggest. Before buying, please do some online research.

    • @chainsmithsydney7604
      @chainsmithsydney7604 ปีที่แล้ว

      Havent had any issue of this kind in Australia. Have replaced the actiflex with no availability issues, and every client we sold (and we sold many) continues to love and ride this bike... was also ridden by our staff for over 2 years. Sorry to hear you experienced problems, but from our view these simply haven't been shared.

    • @geoffpreston6382
      @geoffpreston6382 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chainsmithsydney7604 Good to hear. Maybe the Actiflex system on the Cento10 prefers the drier Australian climate :-). The majority of the issues reported on the Facebook page are in harsher Northern climates though reports from California, Portugal and Spain. It is interesting to see the location for the Actiflex has now been moved to a more protected location. Away from direct water and dirt from the rear wheel. Hopefully this will prevent the same issue as experienced by some Cento10 customers on the Granturismo.

    Definitely makes.sense for ordinary mortal riders to have slightly less thoroughbred steeds available to them. Some will still want the race oriented bikes and fair play to them, but I reckon a fair percentage of riders would like the same quality but a bit more comfortable to ride.

      I'm considering this bike upgrading from a 2010 Colnago CX1-EVO. Keen to know more about the differences in comfort from you previous bike? Thanks

    • @x9lp4hh
      @x9lp4hh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrAk749 The stack is taller and the reach shorter. There are a good number of spacers on the stem which help. My old bike (Wilier Izoard) had less than an inch difference in the reach and stack dims but I don't feel stretched out - and no neck fatigue. Ride on the Izoard was twitchy and harsher than the 10 NDR (most likely due to the 23mm high pressure tires). I'm 5'10" (178cm) and opted for the medium frame. I don't want to oversell the comfort but's it's made a difference - and it still offers plenty of stiffness.
      Cheers!

      Not as long as you might expect given the price point of these machines and based on the first iteration of the Actiflex on the Cento10 NDR. I had seized bolts and told by Wilier this was not something they had seen. Believe it or not they were unable to provide replacements even though the bike was still under guarantee. Even the local Wilier shop could not get them out of Wilier. In the end I made my own and mentioned it in passing on the Wilier Owners UK Facebook page. Long story short I have now provided 50 pairs to USA, Spain, UK, Portugal, France..... So no issue then! The NDR was soon thereafter stopped in production, No help, no support, no spares. This machine has the Actiflex raised away from the rear wheel and from road dirt, dust, mud and rain. That along would seem to corroborate the first iteration was a poor design decision. All companies have issues. The sign of a good company is how they deal with these issues. In Wiliers case they ignore it and leave customers high and dry. Shame because the bike is good and looks the part however I would NEVER buy Wilier again.

I don’t know enough about the tech side of bikes to know how it would affect power. However, it is my understanding that increased flex equals some loss of power.

  • @seattlegrrlie

    I'm torn between the Cervelo Caledonia and the R5. The Caledonia geometry is very close to what I ride now (Kona Reynolds steel "touring" bike), but would be a huge improvement on wheels, Di2 vs Tiagra, weight, etc. I'd essentially be riding the same bike, just newer and lighter. The R5 is a stiff, more aggressive, climbing beast with all the downhill descending that I crave.
    Part of me says I'm a middle aged woman with a full time job ... be reasonable. Hell, my current bike is just fine. But another part of me is like... I mean I could buy a Porsche convertible for my midlife so why not a race bike. If I don't like it, just trade it on

      I'm a 48 years old male who weights 205lbs and I LOVE my 2022 Cervelo R5. My previous bike was an endurance bike (Specialized Roubaix) and the difference is amazing. The stiffness makes for a much better power transfer. I was immediately ~1-1.5mph faster and of course I could climb better also. This encouraged me to start climbing more and I've gone from being a fairly poor climber to a good climber, especially for someone my height and weight.

    No, there shouldn’t be more top end endurance bikes like that, unless it means technology trickle down. I know vid this is classic bike industry marketing (show the high price stuff in the belief that people will be drawn to the brand, if not the bike) but there should be some focus by GCN etc on some sensible price (below £2000) bikes. I’ve been cycling for 25 years and have bikes worth more, but only through upgrading parts over time.

Even at age 54, I have been blessed with a very flexible back and hip angle, and still need to ride a frame slightly smaller than most with the stem (usually 130 or 140mm) slammed in order to get my fit right. Very nice bike. It's a big ask for Christmas LOL. Question, how many bikes can you have before your spouse finds a lawyer?

      @@gcntech and if they find the store-receipt or the monthly--credit-card-statement and then they caught that you lied about the unit-price of the bike. Ouch!

    Seems Ollie has some fans there is the back ground. Who won't like to see that great lookin' guy with an awesome bike :). Also noticed that the bar tape is wound from the stem to the plugs. Wonder why they did that?? Looks good though.

    Why do people always try to explain the high weight by saying “but it has my pedals on it”? Anyone ride their bikes up hills without pedals? My bike is 6.3 kg WITH pedals!!!

    I am not sure the pizza is any good there like the USA and in England. The surprise is that pizza is better in Australia, not because I am Australian it is because I had pizza in other countries and they were so bad. America is like an oil change, and England, where the meat goes, just looks like leftovers at your location.

    Yes, consumer thing... Nobody tells, how all these gimmicks (Trek, Pinarello etc) ruins the very balanced ride feel, many of us love... Too stiff- go one step up in tire width... or think on your saddle, etc.
