This is a great video! Very detailed and descriptive. It was exactly what I was looking for and very helpful. Again great job alot of the videos on TH-cam are just horrible with these types of videos. Some I've watched I honestly felt like I knew less than I did before watching 😂 liked and subscribed!
Hello, great video. I'm working on my buddies quad whom he bought from some guy. It looks like the original person also did this but I'm having issues getting this thing running. My buddy said he was riding this thing before but now it won't run. I opened up the carb and the idle screw is shaved down and missing the spring. Is there something I'm not aware of or is this commonly done?
As far as the idle screw, it shouldn't be shaved down; it should be just the stock screw with spring all oem parts, no Chinese parts or carburetor they won't ever run right. The oil mod is a personal preference. I am already mixing gas, so for me, it made it easier to mix one for all quads. Plus, you never worry about the injection getting clogging.
Anyone know of any aftermarket bodywork for the 2002-2005 LTA50? I have been searching for days and no one offers it. How ridiculous. It's OEM only and a million dollars if all you want to do is install all new body and fender and hood and whatnot. Just ridiculous. And stuff for the KFX50 is even more expensive. Maier didn't have anything either. Anyone know of anything? Maybe something for a Chinese mini quad that will bolt right on? I need the footwell body and the complete frame cover bodywork. Can't find it anywhere other then OEM. :/
good video however no need to go to all that work just block the pipe up and of course then premix at 40/1 mix as i have done that for 20 years on my track LT 50,s and LTA 50,s
@@_.southern_cali_rc_5966 90 on the main jet stock I think on the pilot. Although I think I could go up a size or so on the pilot idles fine once started but must give it gas in order to start it.
Where did you get the aluminum air /carburetor filter? Mine is smoking a lot of white smoke and ozzing oil out of muffler and oil injection has been removed? Any suggestions
Sounds like it could be time for a rebuild or it's just oil build up and a oil Saturated exhaust system. I bought the package from CT racing it came with the pipe filter piston and aluminum round thing that attaches to your carburetor for the K&N air filter to fit. You also have to send a head in to have it milled it's an expensive package but there's quite a bit of difference between that and stock. Plus you need to remove any of the restrict or plates that were put in by the factory if it hasn't been done already in the muffler and on the intake.
Hi Robert, on the pull start housing is there a hose connected to it? I know a brake line screws in it but was wondering if there is a hose as well. Thanks in advance.
Yes there is the hose coming from the oil tank reservoir going into the pump to push it into the carburetor and get sucked into the cylinder. I blocked the intake off going into the pump and removed the reservoir.
I am doing this on my sons LT80 and I have read that the petcock filter/screen is so fine that it can prevent the oil from flowing through in the correct ratio. I am assuming that this isn’t true since you haven’t had trouble?
That hose thats connected to that small inch or two steel cylinder, does that connect to anything or is it some kind of overflow or breather? I just bought one used and its spitting out some kind of gear oil and its not currently connected to anything. On your video it seems as if the little hose is leading to the pull start. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the quick response Robert. The hose that i am referring to is the very small one that is connected to the silver looking cylinder and on your video the hose seems to lead to the pull start. At .49 on your video you almost zoom in on it before you head back to the table.
I think I just lifted straight up with some small needle nose pliers. I remember it slipping down a couple of times and starting over. It's a tight fit. I see there is a notch in the side of the black plastic but I don't think it has to align up with anything. I can look tomorrow closer at it. But very small tip needle nose pliers and pull up. Try turning the motor over and rotating it around. Make sure it's in the off position though.
Hey man, any other vids on the LT-A50? Buddy of mine gave me a 2003 that won’t start. Already have a new carburetor and one foam filter element on the way. I also plan to do what you’ve shown in this video.
@@coronadoegsi All the factory restrictions have already been removed along with re jetting aftermarket racing pipe K&N filter and piston and milled the head.
This is for the oil injection on mixing the gas with the oil and sending it to the cylinder to get burnt and lubricate the cylinder walls with the gas. The bottom end has transmission fluid in it that sloshes around when the crank spins while running. There is a fill hole on the side of the case for the transmission fluid and a drain plug on the bottom. Hope this helps.
I’m wondering that myself, the transmission fluid is for the transmission not the bottom end/main crank shaft bearing. On regular 2 strokes, a small part of the oil air mix goes below the piston and lubes the bottom end when running. Since this motor isn’t made to allow that small seep,(assuming since it is plumbed to have that injection oil go there and to lube the cylinder rings) I feel that by blocking the oil injection off will eventually lock up your main crank.
@@christiantillman84 Fuel goes into the crankcase first and up through the transfer ports to the top of the cylinder. When you use fuel/oil mix it will lubricate the bottom end of crankcase first.
Anyone find a good alternative to installing a better air filter on this model? I have been searching online for hours and finding nothing. I just want to install a better air filter and not use this stupid plastic air intake setup. Anyone? Anyone?.... Not seeking to pay a million dollars for the CT Racing one either. Surely there is an alternative... Same for exhaust upgrade. Anything out there other than the million-dollar CT Racing one?
I keep my oil injection and I put so much oil in the tank and itll cruise at 30mph all day with me and I weigh 250lb. My top ends last about 150 hours at almost max rpm for hours a day. Itll smoke out the whole street everytime I go by but at least my top ends last.
Steve, I don't know if you'll see this but I have a dumb question. Why would keeping the oil injection tank and everything allow you, a heavier guy, to ride around all day? How does it help?
@@jeffglauser4108 Because me being a heavier guy puts a ton more stress on the little engine which means more heat and the more oil you can get the longer the engine is going to last because it’ll have a lot less heat with more oil so less friction
I am pre mixing my gas and oil together and no longer need the oil injection system. This way I can control how much oil is being used. The oil injection system run extremely rich and if they ever get clogged up you'll burn up the motor this solves that issue. I have 3 quads it allows me to mix one set of gas and use it across all 3.

Thanks for making this video it helped me out tremendously.

do you have change the jetpilot carb to compensate the leaner air / fuel mixture with the pre-mix?
