What are the benifits from using black patina on stainless steel vs flat black paint? More durability?

Most would choose to use a patina over a paint because it is more aesthetically pleasing.

I'm looking to alter the color of 304 sandblasted stainless steel to a beige/brown color. I want the color to be uniform and not very splotchy. Would the tan patina be best for this application and how would I go about doing this technique? Diluted more than 1:1? Brushing on? Thanks

Tan will be more on the splotchy side. Sounds like the Smart Stains might be your best bet. You can mix the perfect color and apply it as even or splotchy as you desire. Give us a call and we can work out the details more, 760 432 8242

Couple questions as I await arrival of black for steel. The scotch brite pad you are using… is it fine or coarse? How long do you leave the gel on before rinsing? Thanks!

We use a green Scotch-Brite pad (medium grit). Only leave the gel patina on the surface for a few minutes. You will see the color develop.

The Traditional Patina Gel only works on actual metal.
