This set is fantastic. I’ve listened to them for over an week and can confidently praise them in the budget realm. If you like an energetic (but not too energetic) sound signature, the Chu 2 will surely please. I think a lot of people will like this IEM, perhaps not audiophiles, but I definitely don’t think it’s a niche pick.

  • @miki890098
    @miki890098 ปีที่แล้ว +6

I've been analizing the graphs of the chu 2 vs other budget and non budget iems, and if you lower the chu 2's graphs and then compare it to others, it seems more like the issue it has is that it's a bit recessed in the midrange. My listening impressions kinda confirm this hipotesis, as it doesn't really feel that forward in the vocals to me, it's just that the rest of the frequencies in the "middle-mids" are a bit lower than the rest so it sounds like instruments are in the background, but I've never found it "intense". Adjusting this through eq basically lowers the bass and the treble a bit, making it sound a bit more balanced, but then the budget-level technicalities don't really make it feel any more "detailed" than it is. What I absolutely love though is the form factor and the way the treble sounds balanced. I really like them for longer listening session, just because the shape of the iems fits my ears perfectly, the treble is balanced with the midrange, the bass is not overwhelming, and instruments in the midrange sound relaxed. I've starting using it at my desktop in place of my over ear headphones when I want more isolation, and the exquisite comfort they offer never made me miss the over ears. I think of course you could have something better by spending a bit more, but for what it is it's a very nice set which anyone could enjoy. It has the right amount of fun while not being offensive in any way. I could be used to a more forward tuning in the high-mids (I really like the hd560s apart from some treble spikes) but the general contrast in the mix sounds very satisfying to me. And again, perfect form factor. If it had just a bit more revealing treble it could have been a very strong competitor.

With how Timmy is comparing with others in the same price range, I want to remind everyone again that you don't need 5 pairs of $20 iem ("sidegrading") as it's pretty much just a different tuning (just eq it).
If you already have 1 or 2 of them, just save up and go to $50 or above.

Thanks for this! Literally the straightforward comparison I've been looking for. Already have the Wan'er and 7hz Zero - and like the 7hz just a *tiny* bit more. The treble doesn't seem to bother me (i thought it would). Just feels cleaner, so i especially love them with busy instrumental type music (math rock, jazz fusion, etc). For when i wanna have a bit more fun, the Wan'er. But i love having both to alternate with. I'm still really considering getting the Hola though just for that more relaxing sound when I'm doing work that requires actual thinking. The Wan'er can sometimes be a little distracting coz it makes me wanna sing along the songs a little too much. 😂 But i know i should probably save up for a more technically-capable pair for more active listening. I can currently get the S12 for $100 😰

Probably gonna cop them if they go back down to $100 (fingers crossed some other vouchers/discounts to lower the price even more show up 😅).

@@FireEmperor_A Hey! Sorry, i haven't dived into EQ yet so i can't speak from personal experience. But i'm pretty sure i've read some reviews/posts online that have tried to do this and probably have been pretty successful. Although my only concern is whetger the driver will be good enough quality to handle EQ-ing. But i'd imagine for minor tweaks, should be fine. The Zero is still my favorite sub $20 IEM. But i understand that maybe for more people, the Wan'er and similar types might be preferred. I also have the Wan'er and also enjoy them!

I daily drive the Starfield still so these are a nice addition to the family, slightly more bass, forward mids and a little more sparkle in the treble. They give my tracks a clean feeling with a little more fun while the Starfield just play the track well without any notable changes, just a nice all day experience.

chu 2 is a trash iem that rusts or corrodes itself even though it has been stored in dry and closed storage

What I'm confused about is why people are debating and comparing iems that are already this cheap. I mean, as long as he doesn't sound bad, doesn't that mean he's already good..? 🫠

      1. Not everyone wants to spend hundreds or kilo bucks for iems.
      2. Doesn't sound bad isn't enough.
      3. $20 is (or was) one of the most competitive price blankets in recent years especially after OG Chu.

      1. well, we all know
      2. then don't buy the cheap ones
      3. it means that everything in this price category is all the same, not much difference from one another. Buying one of them is not better or worse than the other.

I think it's good to compare. At the end of the day, it'll partially help to steer people's interest into buying a better product which can the affect the market into introducing better and better budget products.
That has been happening for a while, which is one of the reasons as to why we have such great budget products today. Again, it only benefits the buyer, so where's the harm?

@@elbaff Nah, it will not have any effect on the manufacturer. Yes, after the appearance of Chu, which was hype by Crinacle, the market seemed excited. Even though before Chu there were already cheap products with better tuning like the Sony MH755. But after that what else? All manufacturers only produce products with identical tunings to each other. Stuck. After all, it's impossible for a manufacturer to be stupid enough to issue a cheap product that could threaten their own mid-range or flagship product.

@@thomasdanny7717 If you think they're all tuned similarly you're downright deaf. Influencing customers has a massive effect, consumer trends lead the market and effect what gets made.
You might think they all sound the same but if they did they wouldn't be compared to one another. And if you say they do your sample rate is probably incredibly slim. They don't compete with flagships, they compete with other IEMs at the 20 dollar pricetag and at times even 50. It's just always good to demand better, not flagship levels but better at that given budget range. Hence is why KZ is on the decline and Moondrop and Tangzu are rising - because they sound better.
