It started happening to me quite often after I did a dumb thing in a skatepark and had a very uncomfortable fall one day.
I knew it from normal sleep before, but after that fall, it happened noticeably more often and also without sleeping.
It kinda fizzled out over a few years. By now, it still happens, but way more seldom and only when dozing off, but not when I'm just going to bed and falling asleep normally.

When stuff starts to fade, I find the stuff that happens in the dream kinda start to change and mold in order to make more sense (story wise, not realistic sense, but the type of sense that you’d imagine in a good movie or anime). What Garnt is describing at the end there, I believe its caused by falling asleep too fast; the brain thinks the body is dying because of how fast you drop into 'sleep mode' (i.e. heart rate and breathing slowing down, brain waves changing, etc) that it panics and shocks you awake to make sure you aren't dying.

  • @TonkarzOfSolSystem

5:11 I know what Garnt is describing. Sometimes it's accompanied by a weird falling feeling, but it's a falling feeling that feels really good for some reason. I think it's when the brain is so tired that it'll conk out straight into REM sleep. It happened to me mainly in lectures.

I started laughing to the point where I was SLOWLY regaining my consciousness as I woke up. By the time I was fully awake, I was still laughing hysterically. My friends kept asking me what happened and I simply couldn’t explain through my laughing fit. 😂

If Aki is falling asleep within seconds, that's not sleeping, that's passing out. It means she's way too exhausted from her day or there's some underlying condition.

Since Garnt mentioned it, I have a story of my own to tell about micro-dreams.
About a few weeks ago, I was on a call with my friend around midnight and we were discussing school, our projects, and some random stuff in between. He hadn’t slept in two days because he was pulling all nighters to submit his projects and whilst I was telling him something he says “Bro Kush, why are you dancing?” in a drunk shaky voice. Then he instantly says “Huh wait, why did I just say that?” in his normal voice. He had a micro-dream whilst on the call with me and explained to me how he was partially awake partially asleep and my ramblings were randomly fitting into his dreams but when he said that he realised that he was dreaming and ‘woke up’.

Between singing in my sleep, saying really strange things that make entirely no sense, and also caught myself getting out of bed at random times with no memory of it. I often wake myself up with my own sleep talking too. It's a strange occurrence when you hear a shout or voice and wake up in alarm, only to realise it was you who made the noise.

when he's awake his friend asks him "how did you know that burping would wake you up" and he responded with a "because its impossible to burp while you're a sleep" and as a 12-13yr old me thought that was stupid.

i dream in full blown storys....like in my dreams im a charackter as in not even myself so i assume the role of that charackter and feel like i can remember a lifetime of memories of that charackter as in his backstory and then i litterally dream a story as in with a plot arc, charackter development and what not. most of these dreams make sense in a story kinda way and follow a silver lining, as in id have specific genres of dreams. some would be sci-fi some epic fantasy´s some in the real/alternate version of our world and sometimes id would mix in sensible ways......of course as most people sometimes my dreams get weird and nonsensical wich happens very very rarely though. also ive had only one wet dream in my whole life wich was my first wet dream ever when i was about 12-13 and after that i never had another. i come close to having one sometimes but i stop myself cause my dreams always feel hyper realistic and i dont just fuck somebody id rather have an actual wholesome relationship

I don't remember my dreams and if I have dreams I don't react to whatever is happening in them, I can feel myself waking up but is like I'm leaving from the dark or like I fast travel (because I don't feel the time pass when I sleep its in an instant from sleeping to waking up) and is loading from the dark loading screen and it fully loads when I open my eyes

i've woken myself up a couple of times by singing lol a song i like would start playing in my dream while my room was actually silent and i'd start to sing along but out loud and wake up from my own voice lmfao

In all seriousness, Aki needs to get a sleep study done. It’s not normal to be able to fall asleep that easily. My sister-in-law recently got diagnosed with narcolepsy at the age of 22. Be careful!

I mostly have nightmares when I sleep but I've had a few good dreams that I can remember. What's sad is that I've had so many nightmares that I've gotten use to them. Every now and then I do get that one that will paralyzed me in bed for the next hour after I wake up.

I think I know what Garnt means, maybe. I very rarely get these kinds of dreams where it's like I'm not fully asleep when the dream starts. Also the quality of sleep is very weird. It's like super light, and I can jolt awake over anything, but then I immediately slip back into the same light sleep with the same vivid dream. Oddly enough, they're very restful moments, but it's super short periods of time. I guess like the best powernap ever XD Used to get them a lot falling asleep at my desk at school.
I also dream when I pass out. I've only ever passed out twice so I don't have a huge pool of experience to draw on, but both times I had dreams that had a similar vivid feel to my micro dreams.
Day to day though, I don't dream much. I usually remember dreaming, even if I don't remember the dream. Mostly they're jumbled weirdness, like an action movie on acid or something. Rarely ever have nightmares, but also very rare to have a truly happy dream.

I remember learning something about being jolted awake from sleeping happens because your body is dumping stored food energy and it causes a spasm, or something...

I can lucid dream. What I mean when I say this is about every time I go to sleep I can lucid dream. And I can also move my body while asleep like I can move my arms if the dream is so real. I just have extremely vivid dreams and I’m almost always aware I’m am sleeping.

I legit don't dream. I don't dream even darkness. I just put my head on the pillow then it's the next day. Because I know when I dream. If I dream, even if I forget about it a few moments after waking up, I'd still remember even for a moment that I dreamt. And so I will know if I dreamt. That doesn't happen to me every morning. The most I've had that last year was 3 times and this year, I had my first dream on the new year's and I forgot everything about them. I wish I dream more.

Recently, I was at that point between going to sleep and trying to stay awake. I close my eyes, and, then, my body was paralyzed. I don't remember if I was lying on my side or on my back. All I know is that I look around, and found myself outside at night, beside a building. I immediately knew I was in a dream. I woke up and walked to turn on the light, while fighting the paralysis with my eyes closed. Once I reach the light switch and flick it on, I wake up for real. :/
I hated every single second of that. And I still do. My actions and my room felt so real in that dream. :')
