Apple TV+ today unveiled a first-look and the premiere date for the second season of its award-winning and critically hailed, epic hit drama Pachinko. Told in three languages - Korean, Japanese, and English - and consisting of eight, one-hour episodes, season two of Pachinko will premiere globally on Friday, August 23 with one episode, followed by one episode weekly every Friday through October 11. Hailing from Media Res, Pachinko, has been celebrated for its epic storytelling and praised as “an immersive, poignant, must-see journey.” The series quickly became Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes during its first season and has been praised as “masterful” and deemed as “an extraordinary drama” and “one of the best shows of 2022."
Based on The New York Times bestselling novel of the same name, Pachinko is a sweeping and deeply moving story of love and survival across four generations. The first season received eleven international awards including a Peabody Award, an American Film Institute Award, a Critics Choice Award and a Gotham Independent Film Award. Season two stars Lee Minho, Minha Kim, Anna Sawai, Yuh-Jung Youn, Jin Ha, Eunchae Jung, Soji Arai, Junwoo Han, and Sungkyu Kim.
Pachinko is created and written by Soo Hugh who serves as executive producer alongside Media Res' Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer, and Theresa Kang for Blue Marble Pictures. Season two is directed by Leanne Welham, Arvin Chen, and Sang-il Lee.

오프닝 분위기가 실제 인물들의 삶과 대비되어 더 눈물남
삶의 시름도, 아픔도, 두려움도, 고됨도.
다 놓고 그저 밝고 따뜻하고 즐겁게 웃으면서 마음껏 자유롭게 움직이는 저 몸짓들이 괜히 슬프네ㅠㅠ당시에는 저렇게 자유로울 수 없었기에 처절하고 서글퍼지는 느낌이야
선자 어무이 춤선이 너무너무 예술적이에요

오프닝에서 선자가 입고있는 옷은 상복 이다...
저 오프닝은 유토피아적 가상의 공간이죠 춤을 추고 있는 모든 등장인물들은 삶의 무게에 치여 저렇게 인생을 즐기듯 살지 못했으니까요 그래서 더 슬프게 느껴지는 듯

Omg I was just talking about this show with my hubby last night and we were both wondering what happened with a season 2 because the show was declared one of the highest rated shows. We really enjoyed season one so now I can tell him season two is coming.

And they’ve started with a bang, with another epic opening title sequence. I love seeing the joy in the actors faces, and who ever persuaded Minho to dance more deserves a huge pay rise!
Every actor brings their A game for Pachinko, but I’ve loved seeing Lee Minho deliver the deep, layered and nuanced performance that we all knew he was capable of. You just can’t hate Hansu in the tv show, yes he does bad things but he’s also fiercely loyal to Sunja and looks to ways support her surreptitiously throughout her life. Minho shows us the good and bad parts of his character with real skill and believability.

@@soswezzyou won’t be disappointed. It’s an epic, generational story told with sympathy and understanding but it doesn’t cut out the tough, difficult to watch parts.
The acting is incredible, the cinematography so beautiful and the storytelling a joy. It’s emotional, joyful and uplifting - you can probably tell it’s my favourite tv series of all time. You won’t regret watching it.
