It is common to see bigger fish schooling together, we did check the lake pretty thoroughly, and determined there was roughly about 15 schools that day at least. Sometimes there are 4 schools, sometimes there are 30+. A lot of things can determine the fish congregating or separating such as weather and angling pressure. You'll still catch a few decent sized here and there, but unfortunately, due to the amount of pressure on this body of water, and lack of responsible harvesting this lake has seemingly been stripped of it's good trophy genetics among the schools
Technology has definitely advanced over the years, changing the game for sure. This particular lake, however, has been a heavily preassured body of water for years and years. Having been "over fished" long before electric augers came into the industry. It's a sad thing to see, that is why being ethical and having concern for our resources is so vitally important to the sustainability of our fisheries and wildlife.

Definitely a different year for sure, but we'll take it after the last few seasons... it should be cooling down quite a bit in the next couple weeks, but hopefully the snow holds off, our deer could use it.

We're using the Summit pole, and have no complaints!

That particular rod was the Jason Mitchel "Dead Meat" by Clam Outdoors in the 32". Paired with the Clam Kejieck Reel.
What are the chances of there being a different school in a different location that are bigger class? Or would you just check that lake off as is.

Used to hammer 12-16 inch crappies all day long out there before panoptics and ions were a thing
