      The problem is, the Philippine Navy is leaning on smaller and cheaper LPDs so that they can buy more for their small budget.
      It remains to be seen tho if they want bigger LPD that can accommodate bigger helicopters and LCACs.

      Looks like a modernized version of the Tarlac-class LPD which is base on the Makassar-class of the Indonesian Navy which originated from Korea built by DaeSun Shipbuilding also exported to Peru and Myanmar while Indonesia exported their design to the Philippines and UAE which ordered a new larger version.

    3:20 "design process at this moment" 3:33 "construction start next year (2024)"
    Delays can be good news if caused by design enhancements:
    * Long foredeck for 2nd rws cannon behind maingun, & for ffbnw lite vls like seaceptor-ExLS at front bridge
    * Centerline chimney like its parent design JR-class frigates
    * ffbnw ciws behind that chimney, thus increased angles of fire.
    * fixed hangar or retractable hangar
    * Swiveling decoy launchers (ffbnw or preinstalled)
    * NO simbad-rc since vshorad missiles can be mounted at rws cannons & when HMGs are upgraded to rws
    * ffbnw torbuster
    * Dome sonar (preinstalled or ffbnw)
    * If there are no apt vessels to which the 6 planned 2D radars will be transferred later on, then scrap 2D radars & use the freed up money to preinstall a small dome sonar or swiveling decoy launchers or whatever is apt. Then later install 3D radars (X if not C)
    * If no lite vls, then an ffbnw 76/62 Sovraponte in that spot. That might be the better option
    * The 2 locations of rws cannons also be able to fit 76/62 Sovraponte or at least the NATO standard 40×365mm upgraded to 50mm
    * Hull extension for a low stern like Silang-class with an HMG port
    * ffbnw SR-SSMs like Spike NLOS in that existing large space between bridge & chimney; &/or guided naval MLRS
    * It's ok to reduce max speed to 20kn to reduce costs, it's an OPV anyway. Fast OPVs 30-33-35kn can be procured later
    Don't get me wrong, hdp2200+ is decent but the PhN order is mainly for Spratly waters. Big difference
    But if long lead material is the cause of delay, which is likely, then more bad news for Ph

      @@watermirrorMy guess for PN OPV ,
      -Surveilance 2D Radar
      -LPI Radar
      -Navigation Radar.
      -No ESM
      -No decoy launcher
      -Main gun: Otomelara 76mm or 25/30/35mm (I doubt PN would opt to install 40/57mm later on, they need to standardize medium caliber gun)
      -Secondary gun: 2 HMGs.
      -Hanggar
      -2 RHIBs
      25 Knots in 100/85% maximum power.

    • @watermirror
      @watermirror ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fendy_ may I know why you said no DLS? I mean, this might sound awkward but I prefer if DLS was excluded because the expected pick are fixed launchers (Terma is the expected brand), so if NO DLS, then that's an opportunity to pick the swiveling launchers later on, hehe. But anyway, hopefully there's a low-cost swiveling DLS so that it'll fit the budget

    • @fendy_
      @fendy_ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@watermirror What I mean is ESM and DLS usually installed under one package. So no ESM means no DLS. Take a look on some OPVs in the region. RTN's Krabi class with no ESM and no DLS while in RMN's Kedah class they included both system.
      Because without ESM you are technically blind to sense a threat which emmits RF energy like AShM RF seeker. EO director on the other hand might be able to see approaching incoming missile but there is no way you gonna cover 360 degrees, all the time. That's mean you don't need to install chaff or flare as OPV is also meant for low intensity conflict.
      But I could be wrong anyway. Let's wait and see the incoming result.

    If true, then MORE bad news for Ph, they lost more again at this deal. Existing bad news are:
    * NO local production (thanks to colonial mentality again)
    * NO production-oriented tech transfers (thanks to colonial mentality again)
    * Delayed Pohang offset deal (Ph is like waiting for a newbuild ship to arrive)
    * + this possible further delays
    More reasons to remove further support to PhN. Basic support like transport aircraft, used OPVs, among others, are enough
    MD reported that NavalGroup offered local production of 1 Gowind corvette. So how much more if we connect the 6-ship OPV project to Gowind design adapted to OPV config. Among other local production offers. PhN-DND-Hyundai deal indeed smells fishy

    • @paulsteaven

      Smells fishy or the Koreans just mastered the bureaucracy in Philippine military procurement.
      Among the bidders in OPV program like Australia's Austal, Turkey's ASFAT, and other European shipbuilders, they offered some ships to be constructed at their shipyard while the rest at Philippines based shipyards.
      The problem is, the Philippines has zero to no experience in building big naval ships such as OPV. Austal can easily configure its shipyard in Cebu while the rest will took some time.
      The Koreans also offered a bigger ship design compared to its competitor that's why it's the reason why they're chosen. There's also the commitment from the ROK Government itself to transfer some retired ROKN ships to PN.
