  • In August of 2023, my buddy Stan and I flew to Billings MT and rented Royal Enfield Himalayans to do the Wyoming BDR and some more tracks on a 10 day trip. Our route comprised of a loop of the BDR going backwards north to south, then picking up more or less the Great Divide route up to Tetons NP, then back to our start in Red Lodge MT through Yellowstone. It was a fantastic adventure, each day was full of great scenery, great riding, and always some kind of surprise.

    Thanks for sharing this trip. I loved my car trip through Wyoming and Montana a few years ago, I can only imagine how fun it is on a motorbike! Someday...

    I live in billings. I also have a himalayan . 2021. I plan on doing the wyoming bdr. So this is great to see. I take up around the mountains west of red lodge around nye and absarokee mt. I tried to get to the top of hellroaring plateau but the last bridge was washed out from the previous rain fall. Plan on going to cooke city as well. Anyways i hope you had a great time in the monatana area.

      Thanks for checking out the video and commenting. Yes, I've been up through this way twice now - once on the Great Divide ride in 22 and then again on the WYBDR last summer 23 - both times on a Himalayan - you can see both series on my TH-cam channel. I still have a few more parts of the WYBDR to edit and upload. I love it up there.

      I live in Billings MT as well, it's so cool to know exactly where you are in the video just from the scenery. I plan on doing the Wyoming BDR this year on my Tuareg. I did the Idaho BDR last year and it was truly amazing.
      I have a Tiger 1200 for touring duties and ride the Beartooth Hwy to Cooke City for a late lunch and back to Billings a couple times a year. Been thru the Big Horns multiple times on a motorcycle and snowmobile. The loop from absarokee on the gravel to nye and back on the blacktop is phenomenal. Also the "natural bridge falls" South of Big Timber and the main gravel road from Big Timber to Livingston is another epic ride!

      @nscott26 yes sir it is nice. I've enjoyed going behind the billings dump and taking the dirt road to Edgar or even as far as Bridger. Took the bike to the top of Iron Mountain. Plan on doing that more this summer. Want to take it up the pryors too. I took a dirt road that went from the roundup hwy to Broadview that was a fun 45 mph cruise. But yes I love being able to going down the blacktop and then bail off and head down a dirt road. You would have the orange tiger do you?

      @@tate2798 nope I have a blue Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer and a blue and white Aprilia Tuareg 660. Oh and can't forget about the waterfall past the Stillwater mine going towards the campground and trailhead.

      @nscott26 yes sir. Can't forget that spot. Have you been to emerald lake. South of fishtail. I think east rosebud road. Had a great little lunch and ride. Tried to go up to the top of hellroaring plateau but the bridge on top wash washed out. Gunna go up there and see it got fixed. And took the road that goes around around Cooney lake and came out just south of absarokee. I'll have to say that ride was stunning. Rolling plains on the right and the beartooth range on the left. Just got to get my jerry cans ordered so that I can do longer rides.

    Those views are epic! Being in S.C. I will look at the MABDR first with my Himalayan.
    But this will be a must.

    Always something new Johnny.... If it has two wheels... I'm wondering if you've done any gravel bike camping/touring, would you ever... would you show tubers more on your gravel biking... One last thing did ya get your new Triumph yet?

      Haven't heard any news on the Scrambler yet. I'm resisting the urge to bother the dealership to get an update. So the bike in my latest "what's going on" update I am setting up for bike packing and am wanting to do some camping for sure. I'm a novice with the cycling stuff so I have a lot to learn, but I do plan to include that content here even though it's not motorbikes. Kind of like we did on the Hondas, I plan to start first with small shakedown rides to dip my toes in. Maybe a one night test camp here locally. Thanks for watching.

    are these bikes buzzy at all at highway speeds?

    • @JohnnyPowRides
      @JohnnyPowRides  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      These Himalayans (I think these were 2018 or maybe 2019 models) are not good for highway speeds. For one thing, they really don't love being revved really high, and also they struggle to get up to highway speeds. So the answer is both yes and no. Once you hit an incline it starts to suffer. Now, on the other hand, when you are plodding along in the 20 to 40 mph range on gravel and so forth, they are surprisingly great. Stay tuned for Part 2 which is almost totally off pavement riding.
