That was a very interesting history of REO Olds. Glad they have put up some historical plaques commemorating what he accomplished. Hope they do more to honor him. Keep Safe❤Keep Well❤

That's my Great Uncle inventor of Oldsmobile and Assembly line which was not moving. Later Ford made the moving assembly line. I only found out 2 years ago I was thinking the same thing and I appreciate you so much for speaking up for R. E. Olds I feel there needs to be a monument where the factory was where the house was where the first road where he drove an Oldsmobile is and much more there is Oldsmobile Foundation that do grants so maybe something to that effect can be asked in writing on a proposal I'm not sure I don't live there never been there I'm also proud of three generation workers who are to this day still very dedicated to my great uncle and super proud to be a part of the Oldsmobile family I appreciate you keep up the great work Debbi Debbie Olds Cole. (his granddaughters Diane and Debbie are at the foundation they are closer and possibly can guide it better I think he needs to be way more celebrated I'm proud but at this point in my life people don't believe I'm connected to him only because we're in a different area and it took so long
Approximately 3 years ago the R E Olds Foundation granddaughter confirmed I am in the bloodline. He really needs not only Lansing, Michigan State honor and National exposure. It really should be in the history books that Michigan decides for their children. Thank you so much and bless you, Debbie Olds Cole. From what I have researched, seen on History channel and other National Publication. Take a look at the group of dedicated, honored and proud employee's of that plant @ Voice of the Olds on Facebook (Req to Join) See you soon !

That one spot you were at is the corner of Baker and Cedar streets and that's where they manufactured civilian and military Diamond Reo and White trucks. That plant ran from Baker about 1000 feet north to a set of railroad tracks and east to west from Washington to Cedar streets. The remainder of that plant was tore down in the early 80's after a fire destroyed a lot of it.

Eli is pronounced different. Cooley Law School is not an insurance company. GM was paying for the naming rights but of course weren't through bankruptcy and wasn't making Oldsmobile brand anymore.

@@reoldstransportationmuseum4750 sorry if I got some facts wrong that's why I try and read the markers but I still think there should be more about him like a statue and the ball park should still be named after him and a place on the walk of fame like ford just my opinion. Not trying to make anyone mad. I'm not perfect but who is.

One big fact, the land you were on was never Oldsmobile, it was REO and later renamed Diamond REO. Two separate companies ran by R. E. Olds. Yeah I know he tried. But sorry so many things just made up out of thin air. And what about Ransom E. Olds Hall of Engineering on the MSU campus.

@lugnut215401 The spot where the monument is was the home of Pliny's Olds an Son, later Olds Motor Works.
