In this video, we look at what it means to have writing that ‘flows’, or writing that has good readability, and how to achieve this.
We discuss the following points, and then look at a sample essay with and without ‘flow’.
What is flow in writing? The reader’s ability to move smoothly through a text from beginning to end.
✨A reader should NOT:
have to stop to reread or go back to recheck something
struggle to find connections between ideas or have to fill in the blanks
have questions about your arguments/ideas
be exhausted by the effort
be bored
🏆How to achieve flow:
Clear syntax and effective sentence structures
Focused paragraphs (alignment of ideas, topic sentences, closings)-coherence
Clear & logical connections between ideas, sentences, and paragraphs-cohesion
Signifiers (transitions and linking terms, conjunctions, pronouns)
Maintain progression, avoid digression
Avoid wordiness, repetition, redundancy, the irrelevant and the obvious
Variety (words, structures, sentence lengths, approaches, tone, pace, etc.)
Plan before
Edit and rewrite after

Thanks Adam. Hope to see videos about transitions, such as the use of furthermore
Dear Adam, You have made me love English.❤
That was awsome Adam. I can't wait to watch your video of transitions.
Great Adam!! Thanks for your videos, they are very helpful to non native english speakears.
Quality video as usual. Thanks a lot.
Hi Adam and thank you so much for this video. I am a native-speaker of English and teach this subject to non-natives at the high school level in Finland. I find my students write English quite fluently but often what their writing lacks is this sense of 'flow'. I appreciate how you've combined basically all of the essential components of good writing into one video. I am planning on showing this to my students when the new school year begins in August and hope it will inspire them! I've been showing many of your videos over the years to my students--you are actually my favorite presenter. Keep up the good work!
I'm glad I can help Krista :)
Thx a bunch teacher Adam, even if I'm not interested in writing, i do love listening to you, it's always a pleasure to catch you here on YT. ❤

j) Paragraph transition (most important)
Great topics. I will eventually approach them all. New writing course structure to this channel coming now.
An awesome video! Thanks, Adam.
Hi sir.i have a question.
When your grammar course will be launched?
Thanks for the amazing tips.
Great lesson ❤
Another part of writing is to not use words like very and really too much .That's the mistake that most students make.😊
wishing you a very Happy new year dear teacher ✨🤗
The video is very interesting I want to know what’s the different between transition and conjunction?
Thanks
A conjunction, like 'but', is one type of transition. When people think of transition words they usually refer to adverbs like 'however', which cannot be used as a conjunction.
quality video as always
Thank you so much Adam for great lessons or teachings. One request can you please explain the below thought for the day. I see there is there is a causative verb.. but able to identify how many simple sentences are there in it. Once again thank you sir.
A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Thank you Adam 📝😅!

Comma part 3 is pending for years, please do it.
Thanks!!!.
Great presentation.
Please, are you an American or a British speaker?
Canadian, actually :) This means I speak with an accent that's closer to an American one, I spell words more like the British way, and I use some uniquely Canadian elements too.

I'll see what I can do.
How i can get ur sample essey?

Hello, Adam!
It would be interesting to know your rough estimate of the following. If someone watches this video and understands almost all of your speech in it with little or no effort, what level of English listening (i.e. B1, B2, C1, etc.) do they have?
That's a little hard to judge. I make an effort to be clear when I speak and not to use overly complex language. That said, you are probably no lower than B2, possibly a C1.
Remarkable! ❤

Explain asyndrum structure.
Ex: I saw, I came, I conquered.
In this commas are used instead of conjunctions.
This is more of a stylistic tool. The final 'and' is understood and so it is removed for effect. You can just as easily write
I came. I saw. I conquered. The commas provide faster flow and a connection between the actions.
Hello teacher , I learn many point from your video . I want to improve my writng ,how could you help me , if you please
Each time I simplify, I always fall into choppy sentencing.
It's all about practice and having the right words (and punctuation, to a certain extent).
