    I loved this video. You're very thorough, clear and such a good teacher!
    Thank you for taking the time to make this!

    Thank you so much, I have the exact same card, same issue with causing a short circuit- your method of removing the coils to isolate the faulty mosfet was fantastic! I removed the coils and found the short, removed the supplying mosfet and have the card back up and running- of course it would be better to replace the mosfet, but that is beyond my ability, and the card runs at least for now and maybe until it's possible to buy a graphics card for less than the price of your first born child, one can hope. Thank you again!

    nice video, very interesting, great job. Strange choice of the owner of do not restore the missing phase, I think it could damage the other 5 phases, like this they work overloaded!

    Sir, your method is very unique from other youtube tech I ever watched who repair GPUs. GTX 970 will rock for many years to come! Amazing! Ofigenno! Your method blown my mind! Udachi! From Philippines with love!

      Thank you. A proper way to find a faulted mosfet is to use a thermal camera. Also i had to check gates resistence but i didnt do that. Soldering iron is quite new and it is from China:)

    • @angelosupetran
      @angelosupetran 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@electronicshaverightstolive I agree Sir. A vlogger named NorthridgeFix from California even emphasized the use of thermal camera to find faults on laptop boards and video cards. Sadly, thermal camera here costs as big as gold bar even though China is just a small sea away from us. But verily a wonderful tool to use. But the technique you shared here was really a good promising start for new technicians who want to dabble in video card repairs. In my city a lot of laptop and desktop computer technicians go away from video cards because of high failure rate, like repaired today but might fail tomorrow. And the parts too looks hard to find even though it can be bought online if donor boards are hard to find. Somehow this technique you shared is promising when it comes to isolating where the defect may be.

    Thanks a lot for the video and info i learned a lot. I got same gpu it has no picture fans spins and core is cold. On pci first 3 pins have 9K oms and ground has 0... but i tested on working gpu and first 3 pins on pci express give me the same 9k oms so i dont understand

    • @electronicshaverightstolive
      @electronicshaverightstolive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Core is cold.. Probably you don't have voltage on the core.

    • @92Cope
      @92Cope 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@electronicshaverightstolive yeah but all mosfets have resistance. And I'm not sure where to correctly check voltage when card is turned on. But where i checked its 10v on 3 sports and on 2 spots 2.3v. Im noob hehe

    There is a faster way to check which mosfet is bad using the multimeter without removing all coil and don’t spend that much time or voltage injection

    i would like to ask, I found one of source low mosfet is not connected to the ground, could we just jumper it?
    or keep searching another else?
    and one more, what component in GPU Board look like Square box, there is text CE 1R0 above with grey color,
    I couldn't find it in google,
    Thanks for help,

      Thank you. 1R0 is 1 Ohm resistor. I suppose it is a current sense resistor or something like this. Probably it has blown, thats why you dont have a path to the ground.

    Thank you, I have fixed my MSI 970. The faulty mosfet was the top one. I managed to boot up with the card BUT it burned out again under load. Another component can burn the mosfet, maybe the controller?

    Nice video, actually usefull video , i got a 970 that i want to revive as well ! Mind telling me if the pc fan worked or refused to even turn on when when you tested this card before repairing it?

    • @electronicshaverightstolive
      @electronicshaverightstolive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. Actually i didn't try to power it on since i always check power rails before turning anything on. And sure if you have a short on the 12 volts line your pc fan should not work since your power supply goes into protection mode.

      Power supply goes into protection mode due to a short circuit on 12 volt line of the card. So all system and obviously the card behave completely dead.

    with the tip of the oscilloscope you put where to measure the phases?
