I think if you took all the torpedoes out of the ship, and the fighter from the hanger, it could still defeat most large ships 1v1 with ease, probably only being able to be decisively beaten by the gun boats (Hammerhead, Perseus) and maybe a really skilled Redeemer crew that managed to get up very close. But you add the fighter and the Polaris is more difficult to defeat. The S10 missiles (28 of them!) just put the Polaris in monster territory. I don't think even a pair of hammerheads would challenge a fully manned/equipped Polaris.
I don't have one but I don't think I would pay real $$ for it especially when I already have a Perseus and a few org friends have one so I'm not gonna get one as of now. My org doesn't have too many Perseus but more than 6 has a Polaris P.S. in my opinion if you stand it on it's engine's the Polaris looks like a woman's s#× toy and I can't see it any way else and now nether can you now.
I own one, cant wait to fly it. I believe this and the Javilin are the only two that have cap sized radar. See the enemy before they see you will be amazing. I also thought the crew was adjusted to 6 min to 14 max. 12 Crew Quarters and 1 Captains Quarters
Never enough videos on the Polaris. I own it. Know everything about it. And yet watch every video on it dozens of time. This will be, by far, the most common large ship we see in the verse, equaled maybe inly by the BMM. Everyone want one and many of those who want one have one, or WILL have one! It already grew from 155m to have a hangar large enough to accomodate the X-Win... Scorpius, we know Mantis will fit. And I wouldn't be surprised if 216 scu becomes about 300scu.
IDK Perseus might give it a run for its money for quantity out and about. The trifecta of small military capital ships, the HH for fighter and torpedo screening, the Perseus as a ship of the line, and the Polaris sitting right in the middle. *Nautilus cries in the corner*
@@johnboyd9713 Nautilus is that ship that came last to the "pick your weapon" party and there was nothing left, so now it poops mines. But I secretly love the Naut about as much as the Polaris. In fact, my CCU chain to the Polaris pass through the Nautilus because I think this ship is more versatile than what we see at first glance. S7 turret can be changed for your prefered weapon (not locked on ballistics), mines can be used for ambushes, it's heavily armored (perhaps as much as the Perseus), has a missile turret and 2 S3 turrets... And it poops mines.
@@MonteKristof mines Will never become a thing in a game like star citizen. We all know the size of that free mine we have in our hangar. If you would fill the ship with those size of mines, best case scenario Will be 200 mines in a full load out. Now Imagine placing only 200 mines in an area that's approachable from all Angles 360 degrees. The chance of hitting one will be to low to be an effective ship. I really speculated a lot about this and cannot see how they will implement this. For me its a useless ship, securing an area with turrets is a better option as they will actively search for threats and attack from a distance. These mines are great in Chris fantasy. Prove me wrong

People getting pissed on Global because they haven't seen a minefield and got destroyed, or that the turret mines never misses a shot, will prove me right. 24 mines. 4 S4 on every mine. That's A LOT of fire power to defend a position. my org has 3 Nautilus. That's 72 mines defending an area if we wish so. People dissing the Nautilus lack the understanding of how mine will work, and lack the imagination required to use successfully a ship like the Naut. It isn't a ship for a typical captain, but for one who will always think outside the box.

Space is infinite big, you would have to defend an area only as big as spk or po for the ship being effective and still i think those areas are to large to bump into a mine.
Aboutthe Light armor, don't forget that it's a light CAPITAL armor. It's another class completely than what the large and sub-cap ships have. For all we know light capital armor may be stronger than the heavy "normal" armor the Perseus and Nautilus are equipped with.
I own one. I have loved it ever since it was concepted but was not in my price range until I won a HH in a raffle and upgraded it. I always imagined it working with a Terrapin, finding targets and then the Polaris launches a volley of long range torps then chases them in, firing shorter range, faster or heavier torps to finish a victim off.
Word on the street it will have cap shield/powerplant/cooler/larger hanger(heavy fighter size) and turret size increase.... but yeah we are going to be waiting a while i think.
Very happy owner of a Torpedoe Dorito here, Had it since day one. I really hope they come through with a Medical bay, I feel all ships over a certain size should have one especially if they are a military spec ship. Just can not wait to get this in-game, the only ship I want more in the verse than this is my fan design/mod, which means I really like it!
I bought my Polaris back in May of this year. Paid $750. I love having the loaner ships. It's cool to be able to command a Hammerhead at this point in the game and the Harbinger is incredible even in solo configuration. I'm excited to turn in those two ships to finally have access to this beauty!
I have one Polaris, need a bar to get 12 people drunk so I will have a crew. Annoyed that so many other ships have been created and put in game already. Can't wait to do a walk through when she finally arrives. I can imagine 10 of these all flying together, what a sight. As for capital ships, I don't think any capital ship could withstand 10 of these. As this is star citizen I'm not sure 10 owners could ever get together let alone agree on a joint mission. Remember that each and every new ship they create will make it so the ships that come after are much much better done than they would if they did them straight away You really don't want them to have to rework interiors of 150/200m+ ships lol (Pretty sure the servers still aren't ready for ships this large too)
I want this ship so bad! I can use the hangar to transport a bunch of small ships or one or two large ships. It also has a large cargo hold to be able to do cargo runs into hostile territory. But I'm a solo player and I don't know if it can be flown solo.
The Hangar, med bay and brig is what sold me on the Polaris, Means I can run dangerous rescues or dangerous bounties, or enemy fleet interdictions, just by swapping out the small ship in the Hangar. (Terrapin, Hawk, Mantis, etc).

@@RoballTV Idris isn't meant for fleet battles either... Hence the "Corvette" (polaris) and "Frigate" (Idris) designations; these are meant to be fast vessels tasked with operating independently, capable of outrunning threats larger than them and defeating threats smaller than them. Corvettes/frigates are generally not considered fleet battle vessels, although of course this category got very confusing ever since the flower class vessels of WWII (which should never have been called corvettes). The Javelin, as a fleet destroyer, is really the smallest fleet combat vessel and meant to participate in fleet battles as a screening force to larger ships or for torpedo runs against larger vessels. So if you're looking for a ship for large fleet battles, the Jav is really it (although it's really the smallest qualifying vessel). Granted, this isn't real life, it's a game with it's own unique balance. Nonetheless, if you imagine a fleet of say a Bengal, some pegasus light carriers, maybe a battleship of some kind, escorted by say 5 Javelins - there's not really not much business a frigate like the idris, let alone a corvette like the polaris, have trying to mix it up directly with the massive fleet vessels and escorting javelins - the 1-3 fighters they carry are near useless, their S10 railgun and torps completely outclassed by the armaments of the javelins, let alone the larger ships, and their shielding and armour completely outclassed by all ships present. That reflects why historically frigates and corvettes did not participate directly in line of battle, but acted as signal ships or support ships. Now having said that, both you and I are to some degree contradicted by artwork showing the polaris attacking a kingship, and of Idri escorting javelins. So who knows what they're really planning, but either way, the gap between a polaris and Idris is much smaller than the gap between Idris and javelin, and then some going to larger ships. So it is doubtful that a real fleet battle will have much use for an idris or polaris apart from mopping up other supporting frigates or corvettes. Even if we're generous, and consider the polaris as a light coastal patrol boat, that tries to threaten the fleet in large numbers as a torpedo threat (say 5-10 polari trying to make a torpedo run on the fleet), the Idris is not the right ship to send to try to counter this threat - even 3-5 idri wont stop those polari from launching their torps against the fleet and wont help counter the torps much either. A Javelin is there to counter exactly a torpedo run like these polari might present, and 1-2 javelins will counter the threat far better, but that's an expensive counter, so you'd really want to throw in some anti torpedo armaments, AKA hammerheads. A Javelin with a few hammerheads will stop a polari torp run dead in its track, countering both the polari and their torps. Idris doesn't replace either a javelin or a hammerhead in this countering strategy and really sits as an odd duck to try to use in a fleet battle - hence why its a frigate, not a destroyer. Of course, if we redefine "fleet" to mean "player ship fleet" then all bets are off - anything from a Polaris escorted by a hammerhead and some bombers to a player captured bengal escorted by some javelins could count as a fleet, and now both Idris and Polaris could be extremely valuable in a fleet battle (even though they're not designed as fleet battle ships) depending on what the "fleet" actually is. But in the lore of the game, fleet is referring to collections of much larger ships in which neither the idris nor the polaris have much role to play as line of battle ships.
I snagged one when they revealed the concept, it's my and sure many other's "Big Ship". I liked the concept enough I had to grab one and we'll sort the rest out later.
The second ship I added to my fleet was this! Again I CCU’d to it to keep the cost down as much as possible. I am not really a combat player, but when I do combat it’s always with my friends and this is perfect for us… FYI love the vids bro!
Im still very torn between this and my javelin. I can't bring myself to melt the Polaris, even though the javelin is basically a bigger version of it! This and the Banu Merchantman are my favourite ships. I think the Polaris will be the perfect balance of kicking ass and running fearing for your life, making for very exciting combat gameplay! Kind of like a space submarine, where wise decisions and command skill are everything.
Love the look of this ship! I've had both the Polaris and Perseus since day one of their concept release. I hope the bridge gets changed up a little on the Polaris to have a little more protection. I think the Perseus has a much stronger looking profile a more protected bridge area. All the hits are going to be taken on the nose of the Polaris when attacking large vessles. Having a bridge that looks like a fish tank on the nose seems like a bad idea.
Think you have your ordering backwards. Perseus needs to be up in the Idris's face, pounding away at the big boy's shields to weaken or preferrable drop them so those quad torpedoes can do the damage. Torpedoes aren't as effective against shields as gunfire, plus the Perseus can coordinate to fire missiles to help saturate the defenses.
So in order: manning it: friends for skeleton crew and the rest ai blades/ npc, the ship won’t be a money maker. It will be a money black hole, but since I have a fleet for cargo hauling it should be fine As written in the previous comment ( which I modified and added more stuff to) I expect the ship to undergo some decent changes during development, including a change of its shield and quantum fuel tanks sizes (increase). As for reference we already have in game a fly able ship with some of the same characteristics of the polaris: the carrack, it has the same (current) shield configuration, so it can be used for reference once kitted out, and the polaris in its current state, would have only half the theoretical range of the carrack (of course different mass means different range, but fuel capacity wise) considering the carrack is also described as a former scout ship, I doubt the polaris will remain with this fuel arrangement, and may be receiving a single capital tank instead

I do personally own 2 Polaris's (1 for back up as I will be on the Vanduul front with operation pitchfork or something similar), My Brother has a few Perseus's. This is my Favorite ship neck in neck with the BMM (I have 2 BMM's as well I recently melted 2 of the 4 BMM's to try to get the Pioneer but to no avail yet).
I got one of these bad boys with LTI! Definitely a quality ship. I love the size, shape and hanger. Having those engines can be advantageous for just getting around in general. Thanks for the vid!
Great video man! Yeah I have both of these in my fleet. I have a Banu Merchantman, Polaris, Perseus, Carrack, Libarator, Endeavor, Hull D, Origin 315P, Gladius and Arrow. Being part of a decent size org, I’m not worried about manning them. Specially the Persy, all you need is 3 to 4 ppl.
I own a Polaris hoping to get more friends soon to run it. I also have a Argo raft. I did own a 890 Jump but it is not as cool as it looks. The 890 was such a drain on my money. I think in the space of a week I put a million of ingame currency into the 890J for fuel and getting it back when It got destroyed because It had near enough nothing to defend its self.
Yes, picked her up during the original concept sale as my main Org's flag ship and mobile base. So of course when the Perseus was announced during it's concept sale I immediately saw the protentional of the pairing of these two corvettes as the lead ships of an Org's attack group. Obviously both will be pricy to operate so it will be limited to large fleet vs fleet and area denial duties as it will be a lot on any Org to run properly, they will be awesome fun though. Bought one of these when it originally concepted..Basically the flagship of my personal fleet. Between this and the orion are the ships i'm patiently waiting to pilot for the first time.

I was drunk and stupidly purchased 2 concept bmms. At the time I was like what have I done. Turned one into a polaris for a grand total of $400 with some creative warbonds. I believe during invictus you could use the available warbonds and get it down to $500. Think inforunners did an episode on it. Have the same concerns about crewing it myself but it's whatever. Such a gorgeous looking ship. Can't wait to land my scorpius in it.

Other than a merchant man the Polaris is the one ship I have in waiting and I really can't wait my goal is to do transport for people with smaller ships because the hanger last I knew is supposed to hold up to a medium fighter they said it's supposed to easily fit a scorpion and when it's Capital size radar my goal is to use it's as support for the Orion when I can afford that lol
Honestly I feel the roles between the Polaris and Perseus are flipped. I think the most efficient use case for the Polaris isn’t a ship to soften up capitals, and bust their shields - I think its real role is to run down damaged or de-shielded capitals and deal a deathblow in one deadly pass. I mean, size 9 torpedoes do a number on an idris. With 4 tubes, I reckon you could get 12 torpedoes off in one pass - that’s, imo, well more than enough to obliterate an Idris, assuming it’s unable to shake them (aka damaged or overwhelmed by other missiles. I think the way to get around that could be to use the missiles of the polaris, not just the torpedoes - psyching out the target with tiny S3 missiles might make them lower their guard, and then you can sneak in a couple of torpedoes and ruin their day

Definitely looking forward to it. its going to be my primary ship away from home and main operation flag ship. especially with how it has a fighter bay, i could see myself leaving this ship up in orbit with a small minimal crew while myself and a couple others take off with the small hanger ship down to the planet like cowboy bebob. in fact, i pretty much forsee myself living the life of Cowboy Be-bob with this ship and excited

Hoping the final size of the hangar is 30 x 35 x 15. This would allow heavy fighters and light transports like the cutlass and Ares to fit which would make the polaris actually be able to deploy a ship worth its salt.
@@eltreum1 I hope that's not the case because 8t would make the hangar essentially useless. No Gladius is going to be able to defend the polaris, much less itself. I've fought player gladius's this patch and the ion literally one shots them. 1 ion, if the current meta stands, could absolutely wreck a Polaris by itself. If it can solo a fully player crewed hammerhead with ease, then I'm not holding out much hope the polaris can really do anything to stop it
ive always been a huge fan of Type 7 U-Boats, This is going to be my combat ship for deep space ops when she comes out. So far i have the Merchantman, Hull D, Polaris, Odyssey, Starfarer, Crucible, and a Prospector to go in the Odyssey.
Love this ship! I got one this last IAE. I melted just about everything I had and rebought it all using ccu chains and got the Polaris for $575 and the Perseus for $485. so stoked for them to be in game.
Got it since IAE 2022 melted half my pledges for it and upgraded the Spirit a1 as a LTI token to the Polaris. Cant wait to board it and bring havoc amongst my enemies. BTW Hangar is said to host a medium fighter like a Sabre
I've been saying this since they first introduced the Polaris that Hangar should be able to fit a dropships if it's not going to be carrying Fighters maybe like a Prowler or the hoplite that should be one of its options especially if it gets a brig
I'll likely be using the Polaris in conjunction with a Redeemer as an escort fleet for my BMM, which will likely act as a forward logistics anchor for my org's warfighting fleets - carrying the cargo, parts and ammo needed by repair ships to keep the main fleet going alongside other cargo vessels. So, this ship will be my means of chasing away larger assailants, and in conjunction with the Redeemer dealing with smaller vessels as well. Meanwhilst the pure logistics ships, crucibles, hulls etc can flee, whilst the BMM can either assist in combat or disengage as well. And once it needs to run... Well, the Polaris will be hella good at just that, too.
Just got one. Looks like about 5 months ago talk was going on about starting production for the Polaris. So probably 2ish years out which isn't too bad.
@@PIN-o7 Nice!!! I exploded my Liberator for the Polaris. I was pretty interested in the Liberator but I also have a Corsair that I'll be getting sooner and looking forward to that. Unfortunately I don't know if my group of guys will be enough to effectively run the Polaris but having it as a flagship is our plan. I'm still a bit unsure if the Polaris or Kraken will be best for us but from what I've seen the Kraken is a little more pricey so if we decide Kraken I can always upgrade to that. ( Even if y'all don't think it's an upgrade 🤣😋 ) though given the size of the kraken it's probably so far off it won't come until after game launch's 🤷.
Nice video! I'm getting one this Invictus, i'm planning a ccu chain in the long term in order to get the cheapest price. I'm probably gonna try to secure a Nautilus as well, because i'm yet undecided which one I rather like having on top of my BMM. I feel like deploying a mine field in order to protect my trading area is better.
I always thought of the Polaris as a second stage ambush type of ship. I own one. Hit with stealth first with the Eclipse, Then the Talis... and get the kill with the Polaris. All Hit and quantum out of there to RRR
I have the Freelancer DUR my Brother has this ship, the Polaris he figured the Polaris would be really expensive to run and we would use my ship for exploration and messing around.
I got one. This will be my Headquarter/Daily driver 😬😅 I hope my Ares fits in the hangar. So I can travel and do search and rescue missions. For Bounty’s I use my Ares Inferno. The benefit of the Hangar functions (rearming, refueling, small repair) is really good. I hope cig will release it soon. Sorry for the English 🙈
I was really thinking of getting one this IAE but ended up getting an odyssey. Cig compared it to the carrack but I see it more of a exposition variant of this ship. It is about the same size, cargo and hanger as this ship but with capital components and less guns but bigger guns. My suspicions are that cig did the marketing that way so ppl wouldn’t compare them as the Polaris is in production and will likely get a price increase.
I am happy to be one of the proud owners of a Polaris. I can not wait for that ship to be released. After the whitebox rework , it will also be a lot more versatile. With the medbay (possibly with a Tier 1 bed) it will be absolutely selfsufficient. I was thinking to use it (besides others) for hogh risk exploration. I wanted to put a Terrapin in the hangar for increased scanning capabilities. Although the Polaris itself has already pretty beefy scanners planned. I have it as an upgrade from my Carrack Expedition. Alltogether I think I paid not more than 640 EUR, instead of over 800. One last thing. One of my spies at CIG told me, that it is more likely that this beauty will get 32 torps. Cause 4 will already be in the tubes and the 28 are referring to the bay. But this ist just rumors at this point. Have a nice end of 2021 and an awesome start to 2022.
I wonder, it sais that Polaris hangar would be able to repair, rearm and refill the ship inside. How it is possible? would i be able rearm the Eclipse for example? where would Polaris got that torpodoes IX? Where would Polaris got fuel for the ship inside a hangar with it's own 2 Medius size fuel tank? How it would repair the ship inside without repair parts? Or there will be separated area with this stuff?
I think re arming and re fuelling would be done at various space stations, planets and support ships across the systems. There will be plenty of options in place regarding logistics.

I plan on using this ship as a heavy hitting defender of a privateer and endeavor accompanied by a perseus and a flight of small and medium fighters depending on the final specs and sizes of the pads and landing bays of the ships.
Great video! 100% Polaris and Perseus will be excellent wingmen. Each compliments the other so well. That giant wedge shape makes a vast majority of the Polaris' firepower able to face a forward target. A frontal attack will just devastate! Polaris may be one of the first ships other than the Idris that may require AI crew to operate it in a practical way - to truly crew it up it would eat up most of a (current) server. That's my theory on it remaining paused in production.
I want to tour one! I kinda want an idris and a polaris, mayybe a perseus. But I'd definitely spend most of my time on a perseus. Too bad we can't tour them or fly them yet
I picked this over the perseus because it's just better value. Had a perseus first and loved that it looks like an actual ship but I changed my fleet a lot and then I decided to get this. And man I feel you. My love for it increases the more I look at it.

Hey, I own a Polaris and I will use it with my org as our command ship I got a Gladius combat team rdy for defending the ship and our interest. We will use it for events and hunt capital ships. We will in the future as a group build an outpost and the Polaris will also serve as a patrol ship with its capital radar size equipment.

I love the concept of the Polaris but I own a Perseus because you really only need a crew of 3 or so to make it formidable. Maybe if I join an org I will look into getting a Polaris.
I want to replace the explosive charge on a few torpedoes and squeeze a couple marines into it. Imagine making a Hull breach on an idris or javelin then shooting torpedoes full of marines into the breach. That would be dope

I'm a Polaris fanboy but I believe it's still a long way before we see her ingame... So I went for an Idris and hope we'll be able to have it earlier. But yeah, Polaris is so gorgeous and polyvalent
John Crewe said it got "light capital armor" and s4 turrets are designed to deal with fighters so I don't think fighters are going to be the biggest threat to it.

During the Xeno Threat mission line i was able to get 100k for each hit with an size 9 torpedo successfully destroying a Hammerhead. 28 size 10 Torpedoes even with a hit probabilty of 50% equals to 1.4 million and i expect the price of a size 9 torpedo to be fairly similar to the size 10. Im hoping the size increase will be about 30m... i feel like 185m hits the spot where this ship can be really called a capital ship, don't get me wrong it still is but having it bigger by a little really makes the dif between large and capital.
I think the Polaris and Persus would work well together. But I think you need to ad a HH for a fighter screen. Plus, the Polaris isn’t really a brawler. It’s more of a jump in, shoot the torps, and jump out. Then the Perseus and HH could keep up the fight. I have a Perseus. Hope that friends will pick up the other two.
I cant see this ship anymore because every time I see it i will finely upgrade my a2 to the polaris and I cant wait anymore to have my fun with this ship.
I wouldn't expect a release for at least a year or more until server meshing is implemented and we have some more systems. As to which ship to upgrade to I couldn't tell you. The choice is yours
RSI has always been my favorite manufacturer because it embodies that Sci-fi feel mixed with some realism. If the torpedo room controlled the firing mechanisms of the torpedos I be pretty frustrated. Perhaps controlled from the co-pilot or captains chair. If the Polaris is to take the role of a space "U-Boat" then the men in the torpedo room would be reloading them... the bridge needs to have direct fire control of all weapons. I imagine this vessel meeting the needs and designs of a space submarine, commerce raider, etc etc... It probably will get bigger, but hopefully will stay below 180m... The Idris grew to 242m and the Javelin to 480m. -I own the Persus, Polaris, and Idris... including the Starfarer and Vulcan to support them. Hopefully, I'll find my way into a much larger org to crew these vessels.

I think if you took all the torpedoes out of the ship, and the fighter from the hanger, it could still defeat most large ships 1v1 with ease, probably only being able to be decisively beaten by the gun boats (Hammerhead, Perseus) and maybe a really skilled Redeemer crew that managed to get up very close. But you add the fighter and the Polaris is more difficult to defeat. The S10 missiles (28 of them!) just put the Polaris in monster territory. I don't think even a pair of hammerheads would challenge a fully manned/equipped Polaris.
I could be in a javelin and not want to fight a polaris! The thing is mean.
I don't have one but I don't think I would pay real $$ for it especially when I already have a Perseus and a few org friends have one so I'm not gonna get one as of now. My org doesn't have too many Perseus but more than 6 has a Polaris
P.S. in my opinion if you stand it on it's engine's the Polaris looks like a woman's s#× toy and I can't see it any way else and now nether can you now.

Never enough videos on the Polaris. I own it. Know everything about it. And yet watch every video on it dozens of time. This will be, by far, the most common large ship we see in the verse, equaled maybe inly by the BMM. Everyone want one and many of those who want one have one, or WILL have one! It already grew from 155m to have a hangar large enough to accomodate the X-Win... Scorpius, we know Mantis will fit. And I wouldn't be surprised if 216 scu becomes about 300scu.
IDK Perseus might give it a run for its money for quantity out and about. The trifecta of small military capital ships, the HH for fighter and torpedo screening, the Perseus as a ship of the line, and the Polaris sitting right in the middle.

But I secretly love the Naut about as much as the Polaris. In fact, my CCU chain to the Polaris pass through the Nautilus because I think this ship is more versatile than what we see at first glance. S7 turret can be changed for your prefered weapon (not locked on ballistics), mines can be used for ambushes, it's heavily armored (perhaps as much as the Perseus), has a missile turret and 2 S3 turrets... And it poops mines.
@@MonteKristof mines Will never become a thing in a game like star citizen. We all know the size of that free mine we have in our hangar. If you would fill the ship with those size of mines, best case scenario Will be 200 mines in a full load out. Now Imagine placing only 200 mines in an area that's approachable from all Angles 360 degrees. The chance of hitting one will be to low to be an effective ship. I really speculated a lot about this and cannot see how they will implement this. For me its a useless ship, securing an area with turrets is a better option as they will actively search for threats and attack from a distance. These mines are great in Chris fantasy. Prove me wrong

People getting pissed on Global because they haven't seen a minefield and got destroyed, or that the turret mines never misses a shot, will prove me right. 24 mines. 4 S4 on every mine. That's A LOT of fire power to defend a position. my org has 3 Nautilus. That's 72 mines defending an area if we wish so. People dissing the Nautilus lack the understanding of how mine will work, and lack the imagination required to use successfully a ship like the Naut. It isn't a ship for a typical captain, but for one who will always think outside the box.

Space is infinite big, you would have to defend an area only as big as spk or po for the ship being effective and still i think those areas are to large to bump into a mine.
Aboutthe Light armor, don't forget that it's a light CAPITAL armor. It's another class completely than what the large and sub-cap ships have. For all we know light capital armor may be stronger than the heavy "normal" armor the Perseus and Nautilus are equipped with.
I own one. I have loved it ever since it was concepted but was not in my price range until I won a HH in a raffle and upgraded it. I always imagined it working with a Terrapin, finding targets and then the Polaris launches a volley of long range torps then chases them in, firing shorter range, faster or heavier torps to finish a victim off.
Word on the street it will have cap shield/powerplant/cooler/larger hanger(heavy fighter size) and turret size increase.... but yeah we are going to be waiting a while i think.
Very happy owner of a Torpedoe Dorito here, Had it since day one. I really hope they come through with a Medical bay, I feel all ships over a certain size should have one especially if they are a military spec ship. Just can not wait to get this in-game, the only ship I want more in the verse than this is my fan design/mod, which means I really like it!

I bought my Polaris back in May of this year. Paid $750. I love having the loaner ships. It's cool to be able to command a Hammerhead at this point in the game and the Harbinger is incredible even in solo configuration. I'm excited to turn in those two ships to finally have access to this beauty!

I have one Polaris, need a bar to get 12 people drunk so I will have a crew. Annoyed that so many other ships have been created and put in game already. Can't wait to do a walk through when she finally arrives. I can imagine 10 of these all flying together, what a sight. As for capital ships, I don't think any capital ship could withstand 10 of these. As this is star citizen I'm not sure 10 owners could ever get together let alone agree on a joint mission. Great video, there isn't enough talk about the Polaris.

I can use the hangar to transport a bunch of small ships or one or two large ships.
It also has a large cargo hold to be able to do cargo runs into hostile territory.
But I'm a solo player and I don't know if it can be flown solo.
I Love Polaris 😍 But I have to say that I like the RSI ships in general. Thats why i have Polaris, Perseus, Orion, Taurus, Scorpius.
The Hangar, med bay and brig is what sold me on the Polaris,
Means I can run dangerous rescues or dangerous bounties, or enemy fleet interdictions, just by swapping out the small ship in the Hangar. (Terrapin, Hawk, Mantis, etc).
You won't brawl in fleet battle with the Polaris. I mean, you can, but win't last long. The S10 of the Idris will melt it...

@@RoballTV Idris isn't meant for fleet battles either... Hence the "Corvette" (polaris) and "Frigate" (Idris) designations; these are meant to be fast vessels tasked with operating independently, capable of outrunning threats larger than them and defeating threats smaller than them. Corvettes/frigates are generally not considered fleet battle vessels, although of course this category got very confusing ever since the flower class vessels of WWII (which should never have been called corvettes).
The Javelin, as a fleet destroyer, is really the smallest fleet combat vessel and meant to participate in fleet battles as a screening force to larger ships or for torpedo runs against larger vessels. So if you're looking for a ship for large fleet battles, the Jav is really it (although it's really the smallest qualifying vessel).
Granted, this isn't real life, it's a game with it's own unique balance. Nonetheless, if you imagine a fleet of say a Bengal, some pegasus light carriers, maybe a battleship of some kind, escorted by say 5 Javelins - there's not really not much business a frigate like the idris, let alone a corvette like the polaris, have trying to mix it up directly with the massive fleet vessels and escorting javelins - the 1-3 fighters they carry are near useless, their S10 railgun and torps completely outclassed by the armaments of the javelins, let alone the larger ships, and their shielding and armour completely outclassed by all ships present. That reflects why historically frigates and corvettes did not participate directly in line of battle, but acted as signal ships or support ships.
Now having said that, both you and I are to some degree contradicted by artwork showing the polaris attacking a kingship, and of Idri escorting javelins. So who knows what they're really planning, but either way, the gap between a polaris and Idris is much smaller than the gap between Idris and javelin, and then some going to larger ships. So it is doubtful that a real fleet battle will have much use for an idris or polaris apart from mopping up other supporting frigates or corvettes.
Even if we're generous, and consider the polaris as a light coastal patrol boat, that tries to threaten the fleet in large numbers as a torpedo threat (say 5-10 polari trying to make a torpedo run on the fleet), the Idris is not the right ship to send to try to counter this threat - even 3-5 idri wont stop those polari from launching their torps against the fleet and wont help counter the torps much either. A Javelin is there to counter exactly a torpedo run like these polari might present, and 1-2 javelins will counter the threat far better, but that's an expensive counter, so you'd really want to throw in some anti torpedo armaments, AKA hammerheads. A Javelin with a few hammerheads will stop a polari torp run dead in its track, countering both the polari and their torps.
Idris doesn't replace either a javelin or a hammerhead in this countering strategy and really sits as an odd duck to try to use in a fleet battle - hence why its a frigate, not a destroyer.
Of course, if we redefine "fleet" to mean "player ship fleet" then all bets are off - anything from a Polaris escorted by a hammerhead and some bombers to a player captured bengal escorted by some javelins could count as a fleet, and now both Idris and Polaris could be extremely valuable in a fleet battle (even though they're not designed as fleet battle ships) depending on what the "fleet" actually is. But in the lore of the game, fleet is referring to collections of much larger ships in which neither the idris nor the polaris have much role to play as line of battle ships.
I snagged one when they revealed the concept, it's my and sure many other's "Big Ship". I liked the concept enough I had to grab one and we'll sort the rest out later.
The second ship I added to my fleet was this! Again I CCU’d to it to keep the cost down as much as possible. I am not really a combat player, but when I do combat it’s always with my friends and this is perfect for us… FYI love the vids bro!
Im still very torn between this and my javelin. I can't bring myself to melt the Polaris, even though the javelin is basically a bigger version of it!

I think the Polaris will be the perfect balance of kicking ass and running fearing for your life, making for very exciting combat gameplay! Kind of like a space submarine, where wise decisions and command skill are everything.
Love the look of this ship! I've had both the Polaris and Perseus since day one of their concept release. I hope the bridge gets changed up a little on the Polaris to have a little more protection. I think the Perseus has a much stronger looking profile a more protected bridge area. All the hits are going to be taken on the nose of the Polaris when attacking large vessles. Having a bridge that looks like a fish tank on the nose seems like a bad idea.

Think you have your ordering backwards. Perseus needs to be up in the Idris's face, pounding away at the big boy's shields to weaken or preferrable drop them so those quad torpedoes can do the damage. Torpedoes aren't as effective against shields as gunfire, plus the Perseus can coordinate to fire missiles to help saturate the defenses.
So in order: manning it: friends for skeleton crew and the rest ai blades/ npc, the ship won’t be a money maker. It will be a money black hole, but since I have a fleet for cargo hauling it should be fine
As written in the previous comment ( which I modified and added more stuff to) I expect the ship to undergo some decent changes during development, including a change of its shield and quantum fuel tanks sizes (increase). As for reference we already have in game a fly able ship with some of the same characteristics of the polaris: the carrack, it has the same (current) shield configuration, so it can be used for reference once kitted out, and the polaris in its current state, would have only half the theoretical range of the carrack (of course different mass means different range, but fuel capacity wise) considering the carrack is also described as a former scout ship, I doubt the polaris will remain with this fuel arrangement, and may be receiving a single capital tank instead

I do personally own 2 Polaris's (1 for back up as I will be on the Vanduul front with operation pitchfork or something similar), My Brother has a few Perseus's.
This is my Favorite ship neck in neck with the BMM (I have 2 BMM's as well I recently melted 2 of the 4 BMM's to try to get the Pioneer but to no avail yet).

Great video man! Yeah I have both of these in my fleet. I have a Banu Merchantman, Polaris, Perseus, Carrack, Libarator, Endeavor, Hull D, Origin 315P, Gladius and Arrow. Being part of a decent size org, I’m not worried about manning them. Specially the Persy, all you need is 3 to 4 ppl.

I own a Polaris hoping to get more friends soon to run it. I also have a Argo raft. I did own a 890 Jump but it is not as cool as it looks. The 890 was such a drain on my money. I think in the space of a week I put a million of ingame currency into the 890J for fuel and getting it back when It got destroyed because It had near enough nothing to defend its self.
Yes, picked her up during the original concept sale as my main Org's flag ship and mobile base. So of course when the Perseus was announced during it's concept sale I immediately saw the protentional of the pairing of these two corvettes as the lead ships of an Org's attack group. Obviously both will be pricy to operate so it will be limited to large fleet vs fleet and area denial duties as it will be a lot on any Org to run properly, they will be awesome fun though. Great video and I will spread the word on your channel around my Orgs.

Turned one into a polaris for a grand total of $400 with some creative warbonds.
I believe during invictus you could use the available warbonds and get it down to $500. Think inforunners did an episode on it.
Have the same concerns about crewing it myself but it's whatever. Such a gorgeous looking ship. Can't wait to land my scorpius in it.

Other than a merchant man the Polaris is the one ship I have in waiting and I really can't wait my goal is to do transport for people with smaller ships because the hanger last I knew is supposed to hold up to a medium fighter they said it's supposed to easily fit a scorpion and when it's Capital size radar my goal is to use it's as support for the Orion when I can afford that lol
Honestly I feel the roles between the Polaris and Perseus are flipped. I think the most efficient use case for the Polaris isn’t a ship to soften up capitals, and bust their shields - I think its real role is to run down damaged or de-shielded capitals and deal a deathblow in one deadly pass.
I mean, size 9 torpedoes do a number on an idris. With 4 tubes, I reckon you could get 12 torpedoes off in one pass - that’s, imo, well more than enough to obliterate an Idris, assuming it’s unable to shake them (aka damaged or overwhelmed by other missiles.
I think the way to get around that could be to use the missiles of the polaris, not just the torpedoes - psyching out the target with tiny S3 missiles might make them lower their guard, and then you can sneak in a couple of torpedoes and ruin their day
Certainly a way I will use mine, eventually when it comes out. Just grabbed one from this year's invictus event.

Definitely looking forward to it. its going to be my primary ship away from home and main operation flag ship. especially with how it has a fighter bay, i could see myself leaving this ship up in orbit with a small minimal crew while myself and a couple others take off with the small hanger ship down to the planet like cowboy bebob. in fact, i pretty much forsee myself living the life of Cowboy Be-bob with this ship and excited

Hoping the final size of the hangar is
30 x 35 x 15. This would allow heavy fighters and light transports like the cutlass and Ares to fit which would make the polaris actually be able to deploy a ship worth its salt.

@@eltreum1 I hope that's not the case because 8t would make the hangar essentially useless. No Gladius is going to be able to defend the polaris, much less itself. I've fought player gladius's this patch and the ion literally one shots them. 1 ion, if the current meta stands, could absolutely wreck a Polaris by itself. If it can solo a fully player crewed hammerhead with ease, then I'm not holding out much hope the polaris can really do anything to stop it

ive always been a huge fan of Type 7 U-Boats, This is going to be my combat ship for deep space ops when she comes out. So far i have the Merchantman, Hull D, Polaris, Odyssey, Starfarer, Crucible, and a Prospector to go in the Odyssey.
Love this ship! I got one this last IAE. I melted just about everything I had and rebought it all using ccu chains and got the Polaris for $575 and the Perseus for $485. so stoked for them to be in game.

Got it since IAE 2022 melted half my pledges for it and upgraded the Spirit a1 as a LTI token to the Polaris. Cant wait to board it and bring havoc amongst my enemies. BTW Hangar is said to host a medium fighter like a Sabre

I've been saying this since they first introduced the Polaris that Hangar should be able to fit a dropships if it's not going to be carrying Fighters maybe like a Prowler or the hoplite that should be one of its options especially if it gets a brig
I'll likely be using the Polaris in conjunction with a Redeemer as an escort fleet for my BMM, which will likely act as a forward logistics anchor for my org's warfighting fleets - carrying the cargo, parts and ammo needed by repair ships to keep the main fleet going alongside other cargo vessels.
So, this ship will be my means of chasing away larger assailants, and in conjunction with the Redeemer dealing with smaller vessels as well. Meanwhilst the pure logistics ships, crucibles, hulls etc can flee, whilst the BMM can either assist in combat or disengage as well. And once it needs to run... Well, the Polaris will be hella good at just that, too.
Just got one. Looks like about 5 months ago talk was going on about starting production for the Polaris. So probably 2ish years out which isn't too bad.

@@PIN-o7 Nice!!! I exploded my Liberator for the Polaris. I was pretty interested in the Liberator but I also have a Corsair that I'll be getting sooner and looking forward to that. Unfortunately I don't know if my group of guys will be enough to effectively run the Polaris but having it as a flagship is our plan. I'm still a bit unsure if the Polaris or Kraken will be best for us but from what I've seen the Kraken is a little more pricey so if we decide Kraken I can always upgrade to that. ( Even if y'all don't think it's an upgrade 🤣😋 ) though given the size of the kraken it's probably so far off it won't come until after game launch's 🤷.
I have the polaris and the perseus, was able to get the polaris for $500 through some crafty CCU work.

I'm probably gonna try to secure a Nautilus as well, because i'm yet undecided which one I rather like having on top of my BMM. I feel like deploying a mine field in order to protect my trading area is better.
I always thought of the Polaris as a second stage ambush type of ship. I own one. Hit with stealth first with the Eclipse, Then the Talis... and get the kill with the Polaris. All Hit and quantum out of there to RRR
if its crew is being bumped up to 24 I think its final size will be close to the Idris, because the Idris has a crew max crew of 28. Just my thought.

I was really thinking of getting one this IAE but ended up getting an odyssey. Cig compared it to the carrack but I see it more of a exposition variant of this ship. It is about the same size, cargo and hanger as this ship but with capital components and less guns but bigger guns. My suspicions are that cig did the marketing that way so ppl wouldn’t compare them as the Polaris is in production and will likely get a price increase.

I am happy to be one of the proud owners of a Polaris. I can not wait for that ship to be released. After the whitebox rework , it will also be a lot more versatile. With the medbay (possibly with a Tier 1 bed) it will be absolutely selfsufficient. I was thinking to use it (besides others) for hogh risk exploration. I wanted to put a Terrapin in the hangar for increased scanning capabilities. Although the Polaris itself has already pretty beefy scanners planned. I have it as an upgrade from my Carrack Expedition. Alltogether I think I paid not more than 640 EUR, instead of over 800. One last thing. One of my spies at CIG told me, that it is more likely that this beauty will get 32 torps. Cause 4 will already be in the tubes and the 28 are referring to the bay. But this ist just rumors at this point. Have a nice end of 2021 and an awesome start to 2022.

I wonder, it sais that Polaris hangar would be able to repair, rearm and refill the ship inside. How it is possible? would i be able rearm the Eclipse for example? where would Polaris got that torpodoes IX? Where would Polaris got fuel for the ship inside a hangar with it's own 2 Medius size fuel tank? How it would repair the ship inside without repair parts? Or there will be separated area with this stuff?
I think re arming and re fuelling would be done at various space stations, planets and support ships across the systems. There will be plenty of options in place regarding logistics.

I plan on using this ship as a heavy hitting defender of a privateer and endeavor accompanied by a perseus and a flight of small and medium fighters depending on the final specs and sizes of the pads and landing bays of the ships.
Great video! 100% Polaris and Perseus will be excellent wingmen. Each compliments the other so well. That giant wedge shape makes a vast majority of the Polaris' firepower able to face a forward target. A frontal attack will just devastate!
Polaris may be one of the first ships other than the Idris that may require AI crew to operate it in a practical way - to truly crew it up it would eat up most of a (current) server. That's my theory on it remaining paused in production.

I picked this over the perseus because it's just better value. Had a perseus first and loved that it looks like an actual ship but I changed my fleet a lot and then I decided to get this. And man I feel you. My love for it increases the more I look at it.

Hey, I own a Polaris and I will use it with my org as our command ship I got a Gladius combat team rdy for defending the ship and our interest. We will use it for events and hunt capital ships. We will in the future as a group build an outpost and the Polaris will also serve as a patrol ship with its capital radar size equipment.

I love the concept of the Polaris but I own a Perseus because you really only need a crew of 3 or so to make it formidable. Maybe if I join an org I will look into getting a Polaris.
I want to replace the explosive charge on a few torpedoes and squeeze a couple marines into it. Imagine making a Hull breach on an idris or javelin then shooting torpedoes full of marines into the breach. That would be dope

It is officially a 'corvette' class ship but really the role it fullfills is a WW2 destroyer.

I'm a Polaris fanboy but I believe it's still a long way before we see her ingame... So I went for an Idris and hope we'll be able to have it earlier. But yeah, Polaris is so gorgeous and polyvalent
John Crewe said it got "light capital armor" and s4 turrets are designed to deal with fighters so I don't think fighters are going to be the biggest threat to it.
I got it for 85$ because i applied the following Warbond Upgrade Chain with an overall saving of 405$ and the non Warbond Upgrades in between allowing me to spend the Store Credits i had for reclaiming the Hammerhead... I think it was a pretty good deal afterall.

Having said this i think it will be possible to make Money with this Ship. During the Xeno Threat mission line i was able to get 100k for each hit with an size 9 torpedo successfully destroying a Hammerhead. 28 size 10 Torpedoes even with a hit probabilty of 50% equals to 1.4 million and i expect the price of a size 9 torpedo to be fairly similar to the size 10.

Im hoping the size increase will be about 30m... i feel like 185m hits the spot where this ship can be really called a capital ship, don't get me wrong it still is but having it bigger by a little really makes the dif between large and capital.
I think the Polaris and Persus would work well together. But I think you need to ad a HH for a fighter screen. Plus, the Polaris isn’t really a brawler. It’s more of a jump in, shoot the torps, and jump out. Then the Perseus and HH could keep up the fight.
I have a Perseus. Hope that friends will pick up the other two.
It's was this or the perseus for me. I ended up with the perseus seeing as how my org has several polaris's. That and the lower amount of Crew needed
how much do you suppose one size 10 torp is going to cost to re-arm?
Alot, to re arm a retalliator which has 6 size 9 torps costs around 16000 auec. So yeah not cheap.
I cant see this ship anymore because every time I see it i will finely upgrade my a2 to the polaris and I cant wait anymore to have my fun with this ship.
i do own it, $750. debating on perseus as I do want more pilot controlled weapons not just torpedos (already have retaliator bomber for that).
Think of the Polaris as a quasi-submarine. Capital class radar too.

I wouldn't expect a release for at least a year or more until server meshing is implemented and we have some more systems. As to which ship to upgrade to I couldn't tell you. The choice is yours

RSI has always been my favorite manufacturer because it embodies that Sci-fi feel mixed with some realism. If the torpedo room controlled the firing mechanisms of the torpedos I be pretty frustrated. Perhaps controlled from the co-pilot or captains chair. If the Polaris is to take the role of a space "U-Boat" then the men in the torpedo room would be reloading them... the bridge needs to have direct fire control of all weapons. I imagine this vessel meeting the needs and designs of a space submarine, commerce raider, etc etc...
It probably will get bigger, but hopefully will stay below 180m... The Idris grew to 242m and the Javelin to 480m.
-I own the Persus, Polaris, and Idris... including the Starfarer and Vulcan to support them. Hopefully, I'll find my way into a much larger org to crew these vessels.
