Kelly is singing the soprano/top note, her sister Shanrae is singing the contralto/low note, and Mariah & Melonie are singing alto/middle note. The reason why it sounds like Kelly singing the low note is because (as most siblings who sing together) her and her sister have similar tones.

There wasn't any. Kelly was pulled to pursue a solo career. Mariah, at the time, was not quite ready for her to leave yet. However, Mariah has always encouraged Kelly to do her own thing. No bad blood at all.
