Very helpful :) I'm trying to learn how to use the scales instead of just memorizing music, but it's hard and a bit confusing. I think these excersises will help a lot :)
I like that first exercise. At first I was like, what does this have to do with ear training. But, I quickly realized that once you get past 7-8 notes you're relying on your ear ability to recall the previous phrase so that you can attempt to keep going.
a few basic chords to learn first that are not too difficult. learn D G A C E (major chords) and em am (the little m is for minor and also A7, D7 and E7 would be useful too. It takes a little while to really remember them but are easy once you do.
Yes, but the main thing I do is try to figure out melodies for these lessons by ear. I rarely use tabs and notation, only if I’m really stumped, which has become rare and usually means it’s extremely complex, mixed low, or in an open tuning. I also spend a lot of time singing melodies/bass lines and finding them on the fretboard for my original work.
swiftlessons o cool, i haven't gotten ability to play by ear which has me stumped sometimes😔, but just couple days ago I started playing bare chords perfectly (which I thought it was never gonna happen), So I know I can do it 🤘
Cheers for this, been searching for "practice ear training guitar" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Peynharlotte Acoustic Smasher - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my buddy got excellent success with it.
Wow! That is such a great way of making up licks. Make it up in your head then make it up on the guitar. This is a really great lesson.
Fortunately demonstrated on the only scale I know. I am certain this will be valuable. THANKS.
