In another prison break case, Danny Ray Horning, a suspected killer on trial for robbery, dared a judge to give him the toughest sentence possible vowing to break out of prison within the year. For filling his prophecy, Horning went on the run, taking hostages with him. What followed was a nationwide manhunt to catch the killer. You see it time and again…that’s why there are rules and protocols. Just cause you know the prisoner doesn’t mean he won’t kill you. He was going to a trial for murder, duh! I guess Alabama likes arresting them so much they kept letting them escape!
In all my years I have never been transported to court in a car. Caged sprinter vans, caged school buses, converted motor coaches, but never like this. And usually whatever the prisoners are transported in is followed by armed officers in another vehicle.
Well, I’ve been transported in more cars than any other vehicle. By myself. What are YOU talking about? I don’t believe you. Even if you were transferred in a van with others, or even a bus, there’s no pace car. Quit exaggerating, lying and assuming. You’re not that important. Good grief!
That has to be the most irresponsible prisoner transit in the modern world. Wtf did they expect? People are willing to go to extreme measures to avoid a life sentence
Not,really, they were not convected yet when thy were being transported. They were not inmates. They still presumed innocent. They were just held pending their trial. Most likely if they had bond they would haven being free anyway. Reason they were held most likely because they were unable to post bond. Even murderers usually will be out if they post a bond until a court either declare them innocent or guilty. See Elizabeth Holmes she was sentenced to 11 years prison two years ago, but still she did not report to prison because she has 500,000 bond and has an appeal, she probably will be out of prison for the next 5 to 7 years until she exhaust all her appeals.
Different era in time & obviously proceedures have changed. Personally I'd like to see say tamperproof explosive collars on transported convicts with say a 50ft radius from the vehicle before detonations are initiated.
@@mahmoodali1533 Oh please stop making excuses for this stupid prisoner transfer. A person charged with murder is NOT handcuffed???? Someone who has escaped custody is NOT handcuffed??? Only in a state that votes for trump and Tuberville is that possible
I bet from day one he had figured out his next escape. He was just bad at getting caught. Should have just did his time. 18 yrs. he probably would have gotten out with 12 served with good behavior. Not too smart!.
He escape 5 times, got life without parole...but if he lives to 84 years old, he'll be out of prison, because life is 60 years, and all sentences were concurrent (all served at the same time). But, not very many people live to 84 years old.
Two convicts with multiple prison escapes are riding in a marked unit, no cage, no handcuffs, one being a career criminal and the one riding shotgun is being tried for murder with quick access to a sidearm. Yah, that's a recipe for disaster.
After making a deal he escaped again for 5 weeks. Smh 5 weeks of freedom got him 5 life sentences, bet he wishes he just waited out those 18 years now.
A convict who has made three previous escape attempts along with another convict on his way to hear his sentence for murder (?) are transported, without being handcuffed, by one deputy. The deputy allows the convict being transported to a hearing to find is sentence for murder to ride in the front with him - It would be amazing if they didn't escape.

Any new FBI files? How was it they trusted those criminals to the point where they had just one officer in the car? They should have had two officers ...and a bazooka.
Boy, this show makes the police and the FBI look like a bunch of clowns. I think I’m going to have to consider a life of crime, not much chance of getting caught , apparently.
Yeah though it looks dumb to us nowadays, back then that was common practice transporting multiple offenders in one car with one officer, although usually in handcuffs....
@user-kh6nj5kw6l oh yeah how old are you exactly? I'm old enough to know that what I commented is true and I highly doubt you are..... hell I did prison time around the same time as these two
The thing is doesn't matter how smart these criminals are, they always tend to left some evidence behind. It's basically a punishment of their crimes. Even they are on the run. They have no good luck. They are always running with bad luck and karma for Killing / robbing innocent people. It's a lesson for all of us. There is no freedom if we do crimes like killing or stealing etc.

Transferring prisoners alone is definitely something Barney fife would do in a episode of the Andy Griffith show
