FBI investigates drone collision with firefighting aircraft in Los Angeles

- Officials are warning people from flying drones in restricted areas during emergencies.
This warning comes after a drone flew illegally above the Palisades Fire in Los Angeles and hit a firefighting plane, forcing it to be out of service on Thursday.
0:32 - error correction - it can resupply (fill it's tanks) in 12 seconds, not 5 minutes. If the fire is close enough to the water it can drop every 5 minutes.
Prob 5 min round trip
I think the trip from resupplying with water, then flying over, dumping, then flying back to the ocean is 5 minutes.
It’s infuriating that someone would disregard flight restrictions during an emergency. They probably don’t pull over for emergency vehicles either! Grrr.
They had issues with people abandoning their cars in the middle of roads and had to use bulldozers to move them so that fire trucks could get through.
@@ronaldnelson6692they were told to abandoned their cars. Gridlock was so bad no one was moving and the fire was getting too close. But they were also told to leave their keys so if needed it could be moved but most didn’t .
Might have been the media, or the cops or fire fighters themselves..they won't tell you the truth anyways...remember all those "drone" spottings a few weeks ago? They might have thermal imaged the ground , then flew in a few fire starting drones..to create some upcoming land sales to get some billions going to their pockets...(Can't make money out of property if its owned by someone else)...
Sounds like your typical social media "influencer".
pp who fly their drones in this fire should be punished and in jail.
californians don't believe in law and order
It is California… the guy caught setting fires… already out.
If I owned the water bombers… I would deny the request for help until they get their people on the ground under control…
Unless it is to drop agent orange, then I’m all in. 😂😂😂😂😂
Same for the people who don’t wear a mask during a pandemic
We had a forest fire that started in a homeless camp during an extremely dry summer and the police had to keep telling people to stop flying their drones where they were trying to put out the fire that was spreading towards 2 hospitals and a university. I can’t believe people can’t control themselves from filming when a disaster is happening. It’s really become a sickness.
My right to be free not be governed. Enough is enough
there was a time when i kept wondering why some people seemed to naturally draw others in while i was just…there. no matter what i tried, i couldn’t figure out how they did it. then someone mentioned the book Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki, and i decided to check it out. the way it explains how your aura affects everything around you? it blew me away. it’s like having a secret code to unlock your magnetic energy. this book is a game-changer.
Why don’t you mention that the planes are from Canada, part of the effort to help the L.A. firefighters ?
News won't do that. Mexico and Canada send help
Interesting 🤔…
There actually renting the planes from Canada.
We also send help to Canada, Mexico, and 2 other countries we have agreements with. Also, there are multiple operators of the planes that are based in the U.S. including LA County Fire, and San Diego County.
She literally called them SCOOTERS 0:43 - give them a break
Criminals looking for stuff to steal remotely, never looking for work
@@danasmith858 There's a lot of truth to that.
People just get worse and worse smh shocker
Lol! Just builds and builds.....
responsible drone operators know better. we now live in an era, we have drone rubber neckers.
Now we are seeing the downside to these drones.
responsible drone operators are awesome. i hope they actually enforce the rules to help prevent this issue from going further.
Oh, we are about to see the downside alright.....
@@carolyn-m7z This is what they keep saying about guns too
Why do they only have TWO of those planes?? California is the land of wildfires and they have TWO?
What happens when you vote blue and rather spend money on drug addicts
And they are actually leased every year from Canada. Why we don't have our own fleet is ridiculous.
With what? The 17 million that disappeared from the budget?
@@trailrider7046Every year it is the same story. The richest state in the world has no proper aircraft firefighting fleet.
I even read someone claiming that California has the largest fixed fleet in the world.
Like the other user said, a lot of firefighting aircraft is leased when needed and not owned by California. These being one of them. California fortunately does have some of their own firefighting aircraft, other states are not so lucky.
Texas for instance has wildfire in early 2024 that burned through multiple towns and ended up destroying 1 million acres of land (the size of Rhode Island). It took multiple days for aircraft to appear simply because Texas does not own a single firefighting aircraft. They lease all of them when they are needed.
Wait! So all those drones flying in the restricted zones out here in the east aren’t worth investigating??
Most of the places they have been seen flying are not in restricted areas.
Totally irresponsible behaviour by the drone pilot.
Time to completely ban them without prior written approval.
You failed to mention that these planes and crew are donated on loan from Canada.
Drone flyers should get 5 years mandatory in prison, no time off for good behavior.
Settle down Ken, it aint that serious.
A drone shows the plane on the ground
Keep up the news reports and public service announcements.
Drone operators need continuous reminders to operate safely and
intelligently
So a TH-camr wanted to impress some viewers and now we’re all burning.
lol blame gavins awfully horrible policies that led to this mess
Using bombs to stop fires involves creating firebreaks, suffocating flames, or redirecting the fire. It is rare, risky, and may cause environmental damage or ignite new fires, making it a last-resort strategy for extreme situations.
"One of the coolest uses of drones is..." Great, this news piece just got hundreds of influencers to use drones in the fire zones. They don't give a fuck about a $75 thou fine or 1 year, they'll post it and pay w/ views. Nice work
i remember this one time i felt like no matter what i did, people just didn’t notice me. i tried everything-confidence boosters, social tips, you name it-but nothing seemed to work. then i found this book, Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki, and it completely shifted how i saw myself. it’s not just about being noticed; it’s about understanding the energy you project. honestly, this book made all the difference for me. if you’ve ever felt invisible, you need to read it.
It is possible that this was the drone I've seen at Pacific Palisades on Tuesday. There were 2 Scoopers going back and forth from the mountains to the ocean and back. The drone was in the path of the seaward direction, (they were going clockwise, if looked at from the top.) The drone was approximately over now burned-down Gelsons. I found it unsafe, but at the time the drone was at lower altitude than the plane.
i refuse to believe that a 30,000lbs can be damaged by 700 gram drone
@@eliasnyc1 Speed over a small surface area can create a penetrating wound, just like a bowling ball thrown into a wall. Now, take into account the speeds that planes fly at, and you have a recipe for damage.
@CrobraStrike27 nah I don't believe it, I saw a Russian soldier headbutt a war drone and he survived, and they have no footage anyways story don't add up
@@eliasnyc1 Looking into the plane, at least according to the AI assisted research, the plane damaged uses a more brittle aluminum at least in the wings. (Aluminum alloy series 7000, used in the Canadair CL-415's wings.) As a result, it's more likely to break and fracture under stress and blunt force trauma. I'm not saying in this event that you're wrong, but to me given the information I have at hand, it seems highly believable given the speeds involved, the brittle nature of the materials used, and the materials and weights of the likely drone candidates, it seems entirely possible to foresee such damage.
Such alloys are used for weight reduction, given the priority is flight and aerodynamics, and in this case especially corrosion resistance. Whereas a combat helmet needs to be tough, sturdy, and durable. It's not like the super scooper is meant to be a combat plane, and thus isn't built to take damage unlike a combat helmet.
Was it intentional to fly drones in this wildfires ? Was somebody trying to stop putting out the fires ?
0:44 and it's not super "SCOOTER" - Unprofessional and overpaid while talented people struggle around you.
a "hobby drone" didnt cause that damage
0:44 super scooters!? Stupid reporter, they are so dumb.
BETTER MAKE LAWS this time PROHIBITING USE OF DRONES DURING STATE EMERGENCIES with STRICT TRACKING SYSTEM ("immediate IDENTIFICATION of unauthorized drone/pilot") unless one is government authorized personnels like firefighters and absolutely necessary. Not only we can track down who is responsible with charges, but prevent doing irresponsible behaviors during state emergencies. So sickening that some people choose to fulfill their curiosity and greed at cost of others during state emergencies.
I believe it’s already illegal during emergencies like fire and where it interferes with emergency vehicles/planes. But there’s always the idiot that doesn’t listen.
@@lemontea128 So, it's actually part of the regulations surrounding the use of drones set by the FAA. You also cannot overfly certain facilities such as jails, power plants etc. The issue is catching the person doing it in the act.
Yes, you're right but I meant, isn't there a way to immediately identify as soon as a registered drone (with tracking system with person identification) is activated?... corresponding government department gets immediately notified of a registered drone and its pilot as soon as a drone is activated during state emergencies, like an alarm system. Very surprised that drone experts did not foresee potential drone crash during state emergencies, if they anticipated, they would have had emergency protocols to regulate irresponsible drone pilots.
If they could find the owner of that drone, they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Up to and including murder, how do we know if one of those poor people that persisted could still be with us if that plane was now to fly and contain the fire.
it won't happen if it is a DJI drone.
It's infuriating, yes. Would also be interesting to have a look at whatever drones were flying over the area hours before the fires started. Just saying.
Government so powerful save us stop the aliens!
Ban any and all drones! More damage then any good! This is what happens when stupidity gets involved! Being Canadian here, knowing its one we sent to help state's and the damage thousands of life's that are in danger due to wildfires! And some stupid idiot puts out a drone??? REALLY!!! This individual should be charged 💯 and at least 15 years in prison. Again ban all drones
There are over a million drones in the US, and more than 100,000 *registered* drones in Canada. Drones weighing less that 250 grams don't need to be registered in your neck of the woods. The value of them all added together is more than $1,320,000,000, probably a lot more. Look for them to be banned from flying around the same year that the game of hockey is banned; unlike drones, hockey pucks have actually killed people.
Might help if they could identify them or even catch them....😮
@@DayTon-h9u If the drone weighed over a half pound, it's required to have an FAA issued serial number on it. And all drones are required by the FAA to transmit information about the drone and its pilot continuousley while in flight. So hopefully they'll catch the guy, give him the maximum of a year in prison and a $75,000 fine.
Maybe see if Mr.T had something to do with it too : (
i used to think being magnetic was just about looks or confidence, but i couldn’t have been more wrong. i read this book called Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki, and it totally changed my perspective. it breaks down the energy and mindset behind true attraction in a way that just makes sense. once i started applying what it taught, i noticed people reacting to me differently almost instantly. it’s seriously worth a read.
Why do😅they fight to ban drones like they fight to ban our wpns
I hope ya'll find and charge the idiots that fly these drone. Because of you, the super scooper can't drop water time in needs.
‘The Artery, Los Angeles has been flying drones in this area… already reported to the FBI
There is no limit to the sentence… could even get federal death penalty even if CA will not extinguish criminals.
Incompetent governor
Joe ever said unknown drones didn't pose any threats on the US sky! Luckily, he and Kamala will not be in the White House!
I'm confused. How is FBI investigating and not charging the person/s responsible. I thought the drone manufacturers all provide geofencing systems that can restrict and ID hobbyist drones - does CA waive that requirement? Was this not a hobbyist drone?
You can build a drone from parts of a smart phone and fly it from another. Won't have the required ID. There's so many devices available that no amount of regulation will keep a home made drone from flying.
By and large they don't have systems to remotely ID especially if the drone is not operating. You also have to prove that the owner was the one operating it. Edit: I need to add that this is in spite of them being required to have one by law.
@@joeblow5214 Okay, excellent info, thanks!
One has to use their brains. About flying a drone in the wrong eara
Most people are devoid of enough brains to operate a drone safely, so they should be banned.
Los Angeles and California should purchase a dozen Super Scoopers to have permanently and can loan out themselves.
LAPD spends 8.5 million dollars a day and the city government decided to cut LAFD by $25 million in order to help give LAPD a $200 million dollar budget increase. I'm sure LAFD would love to have a fleet of CL-415's but they simply can't afford them.
That would cost too much money. Probably cut into Newsom`s Hair Jell allowance.

an aircraft collision with a drone? lol, this is like a lion colliding with a fly lol
i remember feeling like i was always the one fading into the background while others stood out effortlessly. it was frustrating and made me doubt myself a lot. then i came across this book, Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki, and it showed me things i’d never even considered. it’s not just a self-help book; it’s like a guide to understanding your own energy and using it to connect with people. if you’ve ever felt like you’re not seen, this book might change everything.
PSA are useless in this case. Ya good luck with that FBI….
So what did the drone found?. A nothing BURGER 😂
Yes..."accidentally"
Is CA being attacked?
Cuando vas corriendo y se te atraviesa un mosquito
Smh. The stories seem to get worse and worse. How stupid can people be? An aircraft like that colliding with a drone is extremely dangerous. This time they were lucky. You'd think there'd be a way to monitor and watch out for drones, like infrared or something. The people flying the drones need some jail time.
There is a way to monitor them, through Remote ID, required on every drone flown in the US. The FAA mandated that the devices, which transmit information about the drone, the pilot, and the current GPS coordinates of the operator, be added to new drones at the factory and added to existing drones, at the expense of the owners. Unfortunately, the FAA never bothered to develop the equipment needed to monitor them....
@Reach41 Why am I not surprised? Needs to be improved.
Dei
Well maybe if they could identify who is operating them and where they're from, this wouldn't have happened!
Clowns...
Drone wars
yea them drones are able to go into no mans land in warm feild to corss over trnmches and booom game over.. so sad
Now Canada is out a bomber😮
😂 dont worry fbi is on the case
Where's the proof that it was a drone?
Probably some pieces because the hole is quite big !!!
ofc it was aliens along with the gov. conspiring against you, you goddamn moron
because it is likely inside the wing now. Whats left of it.
And those who think this plane will be quickly repaired....no it won't. Not with leading edge damage.
When military aircraft strike a bird it rips huge holes (usually moving faster than this plane) and they are down for months
The pilot reported it, dumb-ass.
NJ drones return
Yap its me 😅😅
Crapping our planes😮
And its not even jan20 yet!😂
These are water bombers from Canada please be thorough when reporting!

one night i was scrolling through my phone, feeling like i’d never figure out why some people just seem so magnetic. then i came across this book, Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki, and something about it caught my attention. reading it was like turning on a light in a dark room. it’s not about pretending to be someone you’re not; it’s about unlocking the energy you already have. trust me, this book is worth every page
IT WAS A FIRE DRONE - THIS IS JUST ANTI-DRONE PROPAGANDA
YES it is actually someone's job to fly recon drones that relay information to the ground about where the fire is spreading etc.
Those were totally fake models of the aircraft on the ground
Was attacked by usa on purpose as usa can see transponder of plane
They said drones are not allowed.. B.S. more rights taken away by the government..
If there are regular people putting those up so they can look around because they don't want the cops pushing them out or the fire fighters or anything like that, but they're doing this to look around and everything and these are obviously getting in the way of these aircrafts that are trying to save there. Lives, people think you're wanting to look around just like you would on the ground, but you gotta realize that even like I'm a ground, if you're drone gets in a way of something, guess what? That's one less thing that somebody has. Especially when it comes to this historic fire fighting. People gotta use common sense. And now there's an air craft down. That was scooping water and now it can't go back up until it's fixed and hopefully the repairs on it. Will allow it to do the job that was designed to do in the first place that that that hurts when I hear something like that. These people are trying to save homes properties. People and everything and we're getting some people that may be planning. These aircrafts in the wrong spot and getting in the way and not realizing it. Get that drone down. You'll see those aerial videos sometime. Just not that way, or if you're gonna do it that way. Be more careful and respect. What the law has with them. I'll tell you between some reporters. The paparazzi and everything else people with cameras sometimes just get too carried away. And they lose that thought of giving a darn people that really pisses me off. That 1 of those aircrafts are down because a drone struck it. And the fact that it can carry more water than most of the aircraft up there.Yeah, that's just delayed a lot.People need to really think and use common sense
Darn plane must be made out of paper 🎉
