- Join us in this video as we highlight the best 25 Peruvian food you must try in this Peru Food Guide from destinations such as Lima, Cusco, Iquitos, Puno, Lake Titicaca and others. When it comes to Peruvian food you have numerous influences from the coast, jungle and Mountains (Andes). Aside from that Peruvian cuisine is some of the most inventive in the world when it comes to fusion especially when it comes to Asian influences from Japanese and Chinese cuisine known locally as Chifa and Nikkei respectively.
Keep in mind the Peruvian dishes we highlight in this food guide to Peru are by no means in any particular order nor is it exhaustive. Every time we've revisited Peru we've tried new Peruvian dishes so we hope to make another video about Peruvian cuisine in the future covering what we didn't highlight here.

WELL EXPLAINED. Your video explaining Peruvian dishes is still the gold standard. You described and explained every dish with so much passion that makes me salivate. Unfortunately only about 25% of those dishes can be found outside of Peru.

I also lived with a Peruvian family and they would do this dish with puréed squash and cubes of cheese in it or also lentils with mint and cumin mixed in. Also in he mornings we would have bread we take the inside out and put a mixture of tuna red onion lime and aji in it and also bread with avocado and butter inside. I need to go to a Peruvian restaurant now asap lol it's killing me haha best food in the world.

You guys need to try “cabrito a la norteña” a Peruvian dish from the north, “leche de Tigre” a variation from ceviche and “pan con chicharrón”, that is usually eaten as breakfast.

The juane from Amazonas is very different than Tarapoto, tamales from Amazonas is different from Lima as well. Humitas are different too, cecina is very different in all the regions.You are going to get surprise, I hope you have the chance to visit all the north region from Peru. Love you both :)

I think that is the one people are most likely to skip and maybe anticuchos as well. To be honest I'd go with anticuchos over cuy.

Great channel you two! Here in Central PA USA there is a Peruvian restaurant called Quechua's where I had a Causa Acevichada appetizer that blew me away! So substantial yet refreshing, a beautiful little tower of perfection. They puree the tuna as fine as the potato it's in & w/that avocado layer & ceviche, fresh crisp veggies, herbs & that creamy pepper sauce on top. Oh my! I thought I had died & gone to heaven.

I thought somebody told you by this now XD, but oh well, about the empanada, the sugar powder is "only" added to the beef empanada, if you were to ask chicken empanada or any other kind of empanada, it won't have sugar at all.

HI there Samuel and Audrey, very nice presentation....I grew up on the foods you showed...and more! My parents were both from Peru. I was born and raised in So. Calif. My favorite dish is Bisteak ala Chorillan but in Peru the steak is pan fired with tomato and onion sliced in Lomo Saltado...over a bed of white rice. Also in the top 3 dishes is Cau Cau...steamed cow stomach...not like chitlin in southern U.S. with a green sauce ( I'm sure you have tried this)...and my top soup is Chupe de Camarones. I like your presentation...nice young couple....all the best gyus. Gerry Vidal(Phoebus)

Yes, caldo de gallina and menestron from Lima, caldo blanco, timpo and chupe de camarones from Arequipa, mondongo from Huancayo are some of my favorites soup.

Hello, your video is excellent, there are some dishes that you should try, such as the northern dry, rice with duck, cau cau, Italian MONDONGUITO, dry soup, Chinese food fused with Peruvian food is spectacular to the point that they exist thousands of chifas (restaurants) where you can try chaufa rice, pork, chicken, seafood, the airport, etc. In seafood, rice with seafood, seafood chaufa, FISH JELLY, black shell ceviche, sudado, stretcher, chalaca-style mussels, tiger and panther milk, squid cracklings. Thank you for spreading our gastronomy.

Love the list but you forgot chaufa oh it's the best with green aji sauce and huancaina mixed on top trust me amazing combo . My fave is aji de Gallina and ceviche de pescado! I would love to try those in sushi roll form

On your next visit to Peru visit Lambayeque, I suggest you try: Tortilla de raya, arroz con pato, cabrito (tender goat), arroz con mariscos, cebiche de caballa, chicha de jora and much more. You need to try : sudado de pescado,Parihuela, pescado a lo macho, pescado a la trujillana, ceviche de caballa ( is dry fish ), chiringuito, locro de zapallo, chicharrones, olluquito con charqui, seco a la norteña, escabeche de pollo o de pescado. I hope You try all that is real good.
Next time try masato ( yuca beverage from the amazon ) .Tan bien ,chupe de camarones de Arequipa oyukito de carne ,tallarín picante y mazamorra de cochino (postre limeño).
