This is why I am subscribed to this channel. Wave four and all the X-wing unboxing have been pure gold. Great quality, great production, great insights, great fun! Thanks guys.
I know it's been a long time since this video was uploaded, and this information may all be apparent now, but, I imagine the titles specify Fore section only so that you can't put a title on each section (i.e. have Dodonna's Pride fore and Tantive IV aft, thus gaining both abilities). As for the turbolasers doubling agility, this comes down to a quote from the original Star Wars: "We count 30 Rebel ships, Lord Vader, but they're so small they're evading our turbolasers." Turbolasers are extremely powerful but, despite the name, slow and easy to evade for starfighters. They're used for capital ship combat, where the target is going to have one or zero agility. The quad lasers are used as a point-defense system, allowing the corvette to defend itself against close-flying fighters. This wasn't really apparent at the time, as the Raider hadn't been released yet. But with that now available and the Gozanti on the horizon, the Corvette now has a reason to take those single turbolasers for epic games. (they're also great against Decimators).
With the current epic rules, you can only take one Corvette. You get 5 "epic points" to spend, and the Corvette is 3, while the Transport is 2. Also, you get to make one primary attack and then attack once with EACH secondary weapon, so you can make up to four attacks depending on how it's outfitted. PS. You want a good target for those turbolasers? TIE Bombers. I played the Tantive on last Saturday and I two-shot a Bomber at range five, much to the annoyance of my opponent. Even with doubled defense dice, it's only a 4 vs 4 roll off, plus that sweet, sweet range five target lock...
@ 27:00 I imagine the reason the title says "fore section only" is you would loose the ability if the fore section were distroyed before the rear section.
any chance of an unboxing for the raider or gozanti. I know they have been out for a while but I enjoy the vids and love your thoughts on the cards. I find it really helpful. cheers
+Phil Sherwood Thank you for the kind words! It is not likely that we will get to those ships given the pace of things currently, but we will keep it in mind!
Note on R2-D2. You only suffer a crit if you are damaged. If you just lost your shields, chewbacca or not, you cannot suffer a crit because you do not have facedown damage. The same goes if you have faceup damage only. If you only have crits on you and no shields there are no facedown cards to flip.
whats good about the tantive team slot you gain... you already have 3 team slots and there are only 3 different teams two of which are limited... im confused
There are tons of EU ships available for the Empire, but the empire used Corellian Corvettes as well. But there are a ton of Small (compared to SD's) ships for the gaming world. I personally hope they turn every ship from X-wing Alliance into a token.
I really don’t know what’s the problem with the size of the Tantive IV…. Tantive IV official length is about 125m. I don’t own the model but its approximately 8 bases long which is 8 times an x-wing. A x wing has a length of about 14m this makes the real Tantive 9 times a x-wing so the scale is just a little bit adjusted
Ok I'm not sure of the rules on the primary weapon but I believe it increase 1 agility of the defender for each of range 3-5. So like a Tie Fighter could have up to +3 agility vs the primary at range 5. If you shoot range 5 with single turbo laser, there is no +1 agility to the range 3-5. So if you doubled its agility at range 5 with single turbo laser it would only roll 6 defense. Granted certain ships like Tie fighters or Interceptors this trade off seems almost 0. But with Bombers, Shuttles, Firespray, Uncloaked Phantom, decimator. This is a great option I think.
I think it's fore s cation only so that people don't try to put one on one side and one on the other since they are different cards they can technically both take titles
They probably injection-molded what they do is they make a metal or a copy of it and then they injected with this mold stuff it's which is like a hot plastic that forms to every detail in the mold and then they split the two which is really easy and they can mass-produce it really quickly they could probably make I don't know one every minute to 2 minutes and depending on how many injection molding machines they could be making freaking 200mm a minute depending on how many machines they have
You guys should probably also mention that the ship is not legal in any supported tournament formats. Kind of an important detail / limitation for anyone who is only interested in competitive X Wing play.
How does cool stuff sell stuff so much cheaper? I honestly don't get it. It would cost me $89.72 to purchase this ship at these guy's online store...that includes shipping. Meanwhile, I can get it at cool stuff for $70.25 shipped...a savings of $19.47. I get that these guys produce AMAZING content...but I just don't get why there's such a huge price difference on all products they sell online.
So I should spend an extra $20 on this already pricey ship just because they have a retail location set up somewhere I'll never be at? I might see it if I lived in their location...I'm willing to spend a bit more at local shops to do my part in keeping them in business. But I'm not talking about a local shop. I'm talking about their online store...I think I just feel a bit ripped off that they charge so much more money on their products on their online store. I'm not just talking about a tiny amount of money...but they charge significantly more for their products then elsewhere online. /sigh...I love these guys...so I have no idea why I'm trolling. :( Just frustrated. I'd love to make a purchase from them to show some support, but at such a significant price increase compared to elsewhere online, I just can't justify it.
twitchster77 ummmmm... no. you buy local, you help keep the store open, you pay them to keep your products on the shelf. online, they just have workers and a warehouse, little overhead.
Without going too much into business theory, bigger retailers can give themselves much lower margins (they make less money per sale) in exchange for higher volume sold (they sell more). This is the issue when competing with these types of retailers - once they gain the market advantage they can keep prices way below MSRP so that no one can compete with them on price without operating at a loss for a very long time. Every time you buy something it's essentially a vote for what the future of that industry looks like. We really want to change the way tabletop looks and feels on all fronts, and that requires a lot of resources, which we gain through sales. It's really just a matter of where you want tabletop to be in twenty years. For a lot of people, having the lowest price possible is important, which makes perfect sense. For others, it's more important to improve and expand the genre. We believe the future of gaming can and should be better than simply maintaining low prices, and that's why you see the prices and content that you do. The first leads to the second!
What a fantastic reply. I really appreciate it! You really cleared a lot up for me with this! Really sucks that they're able to put their prices so much lower than is financially possible for smaller shops such as yourselves :(. Anyhow, thanks for all that you guys do and thank you for such an awesome answer!

The turbolasers are super flaovourable, since they're only good against larger targets. awesome unboxing guys!

That's fantastic! We hadn't had a chance to play Epic yet, so our rules knowledge was a little shaky. Thanks for clearing things up!
I've had mine for over a year now... with a few battles and 1 minute into this... The TURRETS and SATELLITE move?!?! :O
Thanks for another great review! I like your idea to have future releases with other pilot cards for the different sections
Thanks, Awesome Dude! Wouldn't that be cool?

Team Covenant Please do the huge Imperial ship unboxing.
The new upgrade icons are:
(one person): Crew
(two people): Teams
(box): Cargo
(chain link "laser"): Hardpoint
Thanks for this!
Jaina is Han and Leia's daughter in the post-movie novels, which is probably why it rings a bell.

I think you can attack once from the fore and once from the aft
When can we get a video of it in play?
Not that much into this ship or epic play, but enjoying your unboxing video's a lot. Good stuff!

If you add Sabine to the aft of the Corvette, can it then attack with bombs?
I presume that, for the Imperials, they might come up with an Interdictor!!
Tibanna Gas Supplies... "Scotty, I need 3 energy now or we're all dead"

Question: With R2-D2, what if you have no shields, but no hull damage?
Then you just regenerate a shield without suffering any consequences.
Did you guys record any plays from Imdaar Alpha? It seems like last year since you've uploaded any footage of X Wing...
We do plan to release Assault when it's ready.
***** Please do more X-wing Miniatures battle reports though. Pleaseeeeeeeeee.

This is probably not the best place to ask, but are you guys still supporting The Spoils TCG?
Top marks for Tiajuana Gas Supplies!
the imperials ship does not have too be a Star Destroyer it could be a Super Star Destroyer ! :)
Raymus Antilles is among the guys who get gunned down at the start of Episode IV
Jimpiedepimpie Actually, Captain Antilles gets his throat crushed by Darth Vader
You guys should probably also mention that the ship is not legal in any supported tournament formats.

President Jyrgunkarrd Good point! Thanks!
