The second album introduced latin flavored percussion which changed the sound. Third album has Bobby Caldwell as only original member. All 3 are totally different albums.
Stand near me baby Trying to find myself I'm looking at the window Seeing no one else I can't remember Whether it's night or day My mind is burning And it don't feel right No, I can't feel nothing! I can't feel nothing! No! No! Thinking of oceans Birds in the sky A feeling's coming But it just ain't right Sky's sliding at stars Winking at the night The orange world is sinking Tomorrow's burning bright I can't feel nothing! (x4)
His last name was spelled Evans, not Evens. Captain Beyond performed many times in the South. Probably because they were singed to Capricorn records. Hush, Hey Joe and Kentucky Woman got heavy air play in Ohio.
Captain Beyond put out a few good albums in the 1970's but they were hard to find, and as a band they didn't tour much either that I know of, I can't remember them ever playing near where I lived, but Rod Evens who was Deep Purples original front man was in Captain Beyond as well and it just seems like everything he was ever involved in failed to go very far,he even reformed Purple in 1981 and got booed off the stage somewhere in California while performing Smoke On The Water,so Ian Paice,Roger Glover and Jon Lord filed a law suit against Evens and got it stopped.
Yup. then the great singer just disappeared and was rumored to have spent the rest of his life working in the medical profession. He never returned to show biz. At least not under his real name that any one knows of.
I played the hell out of this in the 70's. I consider it a classic! Strange though I wasn't crazy about the other 2? albums.
Love the harder stuff, don’t care for the softer acoustic tunes. Never heard the 3rd album since Rod is not on there. Haha
I have it in my top 5 records of all time. The first one that is.

For what it's worth Nick thank you so much for posting these. I for one appreciate it very much. Brings back a lot of memories.
You welcome !
These guys knew how to rock hard
Stand near me baby
Trying to find myself
I'm looking at the window
Seeing no one else
I can't remember
Whether it's night or day
My mind is burning
And it don't feel right
No, I can't feel nothing!
I can't feel nothing! No! No!
Thinking of oceans
Birds in the sky
A feeling's coming
But it just ain't right
Sky's sliding at stars
Winking at the night
The orange world is sinking
Tomorrow's burning bright
I can't feel nothing! (x4)
The whole album is solid
