    My only issue with these Yamaha speakers is the fact that the tweeter is only 65 watts. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

      65 watts is MORE than enough for a typical compression driver in a 2 way box. Reason is, compression drivers are WAY,WAY,more efficient than woofers and require much less applied powr to reach agiven SPL. The speakers I own with the biggest compression driver (2.5'' voice coil) are my KV2 Audio KX12s - and they actually have a 50 watt RMS amplifier powering the top end, so no worries. The compression driver in the DBR series 12 and 15" and Yamaha DXR + Yorkville NX55Ps as well is the Celestion CDX1-1445, which is a 20 watt RMS, 40 watt continuous unit. Having 65 watts of clean power available is more than adequate. celestion.com/product/53/cdx11445/

    Arnoldo, thanks for the review! So what brought me to watching your review was trying to figure out what went wrong. I DJd two class parties on a boat tonight. The first party when using these speakers the bass drowned out the sound and then it sounded as a loud vibration. I own two of these guys and they are about 6 months old. I turned the bass off but then didn't get a lot of sound. Not sure what is going on.

    Hi Arnoldo,
    I work as a mobile DJ and need to upgrade/replace. My venues vary from Ballroom events, Wedddings, large Birthday parties and the occasional College Frat party.
    So far I have been using JBL SF25 (JRX125) Speakers with a Peavey IPR 1600 Amp. But After DJing for a While and slowly upgrading my Equipment this PA sound horrible to me. The 1"HF torments the ear at high volume and the Bass looses because of the 2x15" setup (1000 watts RMS)
    I need something that Handle 50-400 People (150-200 on the Dancefloor) and fill the room with nice clear sound with a nice Bass punch. I drive a 09 VW Passat Stationwagon, so space is an issue. I was setting my Budget at around 1500-2000 € Since i want a punch I think 15"LF is the way to go
    (I live in europe, so I have euro prices price is for 1 speaker add the cost of a set of decent Tripods for them)
    Yamaha DXR 15 - 749€
    EV ELX 115P - 615€ with a cover (i heard they ding easily)
    QSC K12 - 899€ (only a 12" so not a preference)
    JBL PRX 715 . 1099€ a (acceptable over budget)
    EV ETX 15P - 1385€ ( way over budget but i really like what i heard in reviews should I wait and save more money to get them))
    I don't have the Budget for a sub at the moment.
    There are so many different opinions, so I would like one from someone that knows what they are talking about.
    I hope you can Help me.

      Yamaha DXR 15 sounds like a winner, I think. BUT if you can budget in the DSR115, you'll get MUCH better bass and overall louder response!

    • @n87pfeil
      @n87pfeil 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Arnoldo Offermann
      Thanks a lot for narrowing down the choices and the quick answer!
      the DSR 115 runs at 1.059 € so 310€more (340USD more) are the up sides of the DSR 115 worth that ?

    • @GearItFirst
      @GearItFirst  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      n87pfeil YES! Better sound, louder, wooden cabinet, NEXO components. The DXR does have more options in the amp such as multiple connections... but the bass response of the DSR115 is WOW!

    • @n87pfeil
      @n87pfeil 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Arnoldo Offermann
      Thank you for your help! I will be going for the DSR115, so I won't regret saving on the wrong end!
      one more question, I can get a Pair of B-Strock in great condition for 790€/each, 30 day moneyback guarantee, 3 year warranty.
      Have you had any experience with B-Stock ?

    Can anyone please help? I am confused. Either this guy is incredibly small or that is a 15" driver in a cabinet. The problem is that retailers list the specifications of the Yamaha DBR15 as having a 10" driver. Can anyone please clarify?

    • @GearItFirst
      @GearItFirst  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DBR15 = 15" DBR10 = 10"

    Arnoldo Currently I am running 2 DXR15's with 2 QSC K-subs. I am wanting to eventually upgrade to a better top. Would you spend more money on the DSR15 or just stay with a 12 seeing that I always use subs? 2nd part to the question is I am going to 18 inch subs. I am crossed between the QSC KW181s and EV ETX 18s. For what I do, weddings mostly, a few college frat mixer parties. Will the ETX speakers bring that much more response for my money?

    • @GearItFirst
      @GearItFirst  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not a fan of QSC, personally. I think if you have smaller crowds you may want to look at the DXR12s + ETX18SP for a a kickass rig.

    Hola Arnoldo, tengo una duda cuál audio es mejor ¿El DBR-15 o el DXR-15? yo lo usaría para una banda en vivo con seis músicos (batería, bajo, guitarra, teclados y cuatro voces) y cuál sería el máximo aproximado de audiencia en el que puede trabajar este audio suponiendo que se usa un grave y un medio por lado.
    Saludos desde Orizaba, Veracruz, México y de antemano mil gracias por tu respuesta. ¿Tú de donde eres?

    Hello Arnoldo,
    I am considering buying a pair of DBR12s . Would you help me with a couple of questions? I would like to know if the amplifier cooling fan is always on from the moment your the switch or if the fan comes on only when it warms up. Is this a quiet amplifier when on stanby of is the hiss is noticeable at about 3 ft? Thank you for your help.

    • @GearItFirst
      @GearItFirst  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +us1020 I've seen it run non-stop.. never had an issue though! It's VERY quiet!

    • @us1020
      @us1020 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Arnoldo Offermann Thank you for your reply. I have subscribed!
      Could this speakers be used for listening to music in my studio at low volumes or would the cooling fan be to loud?
      also I have noticed that some spaekers like the Electro Voice have noisy amplifiers [they just have this noisy background hiss], is the yamaha dbr15 very quiet ori s the hiss from the amplifier too loud for using at home? Your help is much appreciated!

    • @GearItFirst
      @GearItFirst  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You wouldn't even hear the cooling fan.The hiss is usually due to a bad ground or overall bad power, OR being on the same circuit as a fluorescent or dimming light. EVs are usually very quiet, too!

    1.- Hablas español? entre esta bocina y una QSC K12 cual recomiendas?
    2.- cuando vas a algún evento solo llevas este modelo o lo complementas con algún otro modelo? cuantas llevas 2 o 2 bocinas de este modelo? que subwoofer utilizas?

      Tavo Cisneros Si, hablo español.
      Yo recomiendo el DXR12, por que es similar de el K12 pero tiene sonido mejor.
      2- Con el DBR15, lo uso solors. Con el DBR10 lo uso con el DXS12 sub.

      Ha ok ok si perdón arriba me equivoque tu usas 2 medios y 2 bajos, lo que pasa es que quiero comprar un equipo más móvil pero quiero que suene bien y que no sea muy caro, actual mente uso 2 medios pasivos de 15 y 2 bajos de 18 los medios no son de marca conocida son marca LAX pero no le piden nada a un jbl, y los bajos son bhringer lo que me ayuda a que suenen bien es un amplificador qsc de la serie dca que tiene 500 de doping factor y para medios tengo un crown XLS 1500, y un driverack pa+ y pues mi equipo suena muy bien tanto al aire libre como en lugar cerrado, pero quiero algo mas estético y menos pesado y no muy caro jejeje tu al aire libre o para eventos un poco más grandes que usas?

    • @GearItFirst
