  • Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens are so juicy and a delight to work with! Using quality paper, I was able to color wet on dry (pen on paper), wet on damp (a layer of semi-dried color before adding more colors on top), and wet on wet (rapidly applying a new color on top of the previous color). These techniques allowed me to create defined lines and textures (wet on dry), blend while maintaining some texture (wet on damp), and blend thoroughly to adjust color smoothly (wet on wet). You can see me using these 3 styles in the video. Because Pitt Artist Pens are self-cleaning, it's okay to use a lighter color on top of a darker one. To clean, simply have a piece of scrap paper handy and color back and forth until all of the dark color comes out (usually in a few seconds). I've done this with Light Yellow Glaze on top of Indanthrene Blue and my yellow was still pure. Want to know another trick if your paper is soaking up the pigment and dulling it? If you want a "brighter" version of a color, use Pitt Artist Pens in White and allow it to dry before adding your other color on top. That's how I managed to bring back some bright golden yellows after deepening it with orange-reds. Try this: Apply a layer of bright-colored Pitt Pen directly on the paper. Now beside it, apply White and let dry, followed by the same bright colored Pitt Artist Pen. You'll see a difference!
