Hi friends! I've been noticing a lot of comments on my older videos where people tell me to turn off the background music! Thanks for the feedback- the advice was heeded a while back (November 2017-ish, around the time I was able to upgrade my audio quality), so be sure to check out some of my newer videos. 😊
I've had a set of these pens for a while and this video was a huge eye-opener on their possibilities. I tried drawing a chili pepper yesterday before seeing this, and I can see how I could do far better with these techniques. Thanks!
I got this set as a gift about five years ago and never used it. A crime, I know, but they intimidated me! I brought it out a few days ago and I'm very pleased with them, but I haven't been able to blend them at all! I've used different papers and brushes to see if that helped, but they just dry too fast! I wonder if their age has an effect on that? Other than that, they work perfectly and I'm enjoying finally allowing myself to use them! They are so lovely. Regarding your video, it was very informative!! I really appreciate how well-paced and detailed you were in your review. Even though I'm very casually acquainted with art supplies in general, I had no idea about the asterisk thing and the India ink and all of that! Most people don't even mention those things, so I was extremely glad that you did-especially because I tossed the instructions away years ago and can't read them now! Also, the drawing at the end is GORGEOUS! I love it. You built up such lovely colours!!
Mind officially blown! Discovered these markers some five years after this video produced. Absolutely staggered and excited at the possibilities now. Thank you!
I'm considering buying these pens. I went to Michael's Arts and Craft's today and they caught my eye! I've been researching the company's products all evening and your review just reiterated what I've determined. These pens are well worth it! I'm going to purchase some in a few days!!!! Thanks so much for your honest review!!!!
Beautiful artwork! Thank you for thorough review and usage guide! I got some of these as a present and had a hard time figuring how best to use them. Your video was super helpful!
What a great video. I love the fact that you are so thorough, and include all relevant info in the description. I'm interested in these pens as a base layer for coloured pencil work, so I'm really pleased that you discussed and demonstrated this. Really excellent.
Yeah awesome pens , I probably have all of them . Its very interesting how you blended the pigment with water , I always used those light grey colours to try and make gradual effect , though you sorted it out very well which i never thought about could be doable . it would be interesting to see more of that ,
You have to be really quick with dissolving these with water because they dry quickly and as soon as they're dry they're really permanent. That has its own advantages though! I like to experiment and see what weird ways I can use a product to try and make the most out of them :D I expanded my collection of these pens and bought a bunch of them open stock- I bought a load of pale colours so I could do more "dry" blending and subtle layering without having to rely on water to dilute.
Love your reviews, you're the Best to go over the entire product and include all relevant info in the description and i kind of like that very much! I'm interested in these pens and after i've watch your video i wan't them more because whe could use colored pencils over the layer of these Pitt Pens, Fantastic review Claudia!
As I became allergic to alcohool markers, I am switching to these pens and watercolor pens for my archtecture projects. So far, this ones are becoming my favorites
Super helpful and informative, I have just bought these pens and this has helped with some great ideas on how to get the most out of them. Thanks Claudia x
I have those pens in the 48 Studio Box and I really like them a lot. I got them last year as a birthday present from my mom and she paid a little less than 100€. I was really happy with the pens although I never tried another method like yours with the water. Back then I used them for everything. I sketched with them, I did line art with them and I coloured my drawings with them. But since I improved a little when it comes to the variety of the media I own so now I mostly use them for sketches or sometimes colouring (I'm now mostly using Prismacolor pencils for my drawings). There was one thing I noticed about those pens regarding the chart in the leaflet. When I did a colour chart myself I tried to always have a look at the leaflet just so I don't miss anything, but I actually found out that there were some of the colours I had missing in the leaflet. That had me a little confused, but I don't think that's too bad. xD After all those pens are what I started out with. And now that I know that there are more techniques than just simply drawing with them I might want to use them more often. Thank you for that.
I'm happy to hear that the video may have inspired you to use your materials in different ways! :D The colour chart problem is an odd one, but I noticed that Faber Castell use a couple of different charts for their "green box" items (Polychromos, Pitt Pastel Pencils, Albrecht Dürer Watercolour Pencils, Pitt Pens). The one they often use in their leaflets is based around the selection of 120 colours they offer in Albrecht Dürer and Polychromos- then they check off which of the colours are present in the other ranges in the next columns. However, the Pitt Pens come in colours that don't exist in the Polychromos and Albrecht Dürer range. Ice Blue and Light Indigo spring to mind but I'm sure there are others. So maybe this is the issue? :)
Thanks a lot Claudia. I like your reviews a lot. You always do them in a very fair, unbiased and decent way. After watching this video, I'd like to get myself such a set - they look like one can have lots of fun with them.
Thank you so much for this video! I recently got some of the 6-packs of these pens for my birthday, and as I tend to work more with pencils or digitally, I was looking around for videos that might show some techniques and yours has just been perfect! I love that you showed every technique separately but also demonstrated them in a complete picture, this has been so helpful. And the peacock is gorgeous! I feel like the tail could have done with more blue but the head and the way you did the feather transitions was very lovely. Also your voice is really nice and calming :)
I’ve always loved these pens! I first used the grey tone set for some comic book style illustrations in 2010 and fell in love. Many years later once I had the money, I bought the full set of these and the big brush set. I’ve found they blend well on bienfang marker paper and with yupo paper. If you use just a bit of water, you can get great watercolor effects on yupo.
I've been meaning to buy Yupo to try them on- and of course a bunch of other products too. :D Thanks for watching and commenting, and thanks very much for the recommendation!
Thank you so much for this video! I had been looking for review videos on pitt markers for a while and yours is the best one I've seen. Your art is so beautiful!
Hi Claudia, congratulations for the very well done video, the perfectly balanced comments and, of course, your wonderful drawing, I own a few of the 6 pens sets (basic, terra, landscape, manga and shades of grey) plus a couple of different sized pens in sets of 4 (black and sepia) also by Faber-Castell so I think I’m pretty well equipped as far as these pens go, the only and major problem seems to be how to put them to good use!...that is why I went looking for some instructions and examples and came across your channel. I’ll make sure to follow whenever I can and on a future opportunity I’d like to show you some of my very modest work😃 cheers
Thank you very much for watching and your kind words! I hope you have fun with your pens, find something exciting to create with them and some techniques you enjoy! :)
Hi there. I saw this tutorial, because I wanted to see what else I can do with my artist pens. I really really love the result! Very beautiful! Though I stuck a little with your comment about "finest artists quality" :) Faber Castell is a really big brand in germany tbh. They've got different lines, including school supplies, which are the cheapest ones. Their highest quality is the "finest artists quality" line, like polychromos, pitt artist pens and several other art supplies. So it's not exactly a lie. Just another line in their portfolio 😉 that said, I loved how you showed off the ways to blend them and apply with water (which is what I was researching) and how you explained the way it works. :)
Wonderful video. I have the 60 set and use it in my Sketchbook. There are so less videos about the pencils and their possibilities. I think your video catches it the best. I love your endresult drawing.
I am considering buying these as i love Faber Castell an have lots of their products and as i want to start useing such pens they seem interesting, probably if i can get a 48 box for not so much i am booked
I also love FC products! Hope you manage to find a bargain :) Saw that they just came out with Albrecht Dürer pens, probably similar to these but truly watersoluble. I'm very curious about those too.
Well done review as always, however I'm a little bit unclear on whether or not the brush nibs were flexible or stiff. I think you mentioned they were somewhat flexible but I'm still a little unclear on ir firmness. Thank you so much I really want to get some of these ☺️
Hello! I just stumbled across your channel. What a wonderful arts resource it is! Fantastic informative and enjoyable. I'm subscribing and I'll share links to your channel with my art group. Cheers to you!
Here I am checking out how much better my art could be with my set of markers and you're fricking incorporating watercolour to make it super realistic too.
There are no rules in art! I added water because it works for me. I found that it makes creating realism easier, because I have a better control over my values (especially the lightest ones). Research different techniques, experiment and adapt, and see what works best for you ^_^
Great to see colored pencils can be added over them. Being Indian Ink, are they look shiny? I mean since Indian inks are usually shellac or acrylic based so they might have a thick and shiny finish to it compared to dye-based inks.
Thanks for watching and commenting! I found that on this paper they had generally a very matte finish. The exception is that when dark colours are layered up, you'll get a little of that inky iridescent sheen if it catches the light. For example, the shadows between the feathers on the blue area on the back have this property- in the light they give off a faint green reflection. I suppose this is very much dependent on the paper used though- Yupo gives a glossier appearance and perhaps the inky iridescence would be more obvious there. On my peacock piece, the paper surface doesn't feel any glossier or thick- the paper feels the same (albeit the surface texture is naturally changed because of the moisture and abrasion from the pen nibs). From what I've found online, the binder is a "plastic dispersion resin" (so I imagine like an acrylic) rather than shellac. Hope this helps! :)
your quality and in depth review is very appreciated. There are enough 30 second cookie-cutter reviews. You put a lot of thought and work into this, hope you keep that up. :)
shaddixamigo Thank you very much! I continue to make reviews based on this format. I'm really glad you appreciate it! I know what it's like to try to research a product you're considering purchasing, and not having your questions answered.
Thank you very much! These aren't the Touch markers- they're not alcohol based at all. These are different to copics (and touch markers) in that they're waterbased, single-ended and contain pigment based ink- so they're lightfast- which pleases me greatly :D But you've inspired me, I'm now thinking that perhaps these would pair well with alcohol based markers. Alcohol based markers are excellent for laying down large areas of colour, but these are great at creating bright details and textures. I'll write it down, sounds like something fun to give a go. :)
Hi Claudia, Love you drawing and the video. I have just bought the Faber Castell 24 set Pitt Artist Pens. I love them for getting into places you can't normally with some of the other pens on the market. The colours are quite dark in this set so I was wondering whether to get one of larger sets Do you think this would be a good idea. They are very expensive here $NZ96.00 so I wondered whether to try Amazon. Your comments would be very welcome.
It really depends on your technique and subject matter. If you're finding them too dark/saturated, you could try diluting the pigment whilst it's still wet after application, or before applying it to the paper. If you have a set type of subject matter you normally draw, you could also buy the colours you're most likely to use open-stock- sometimes that're more cost effective. :)
Thank you for the great Video! I‘ve searched nearly everywhere for a helpful review of this pens. They‘re doing their Job quite well. By the way, the peacock is beautiful!
The only thing I'm not crazy about with these sets is that they are only offered in the brush nibs. The brush nib isn't my favorite in the PITT pens. I have the black 8 set and the brush nib is a little harder to get fine details than the other round/bullet type nibs.
They are permanent when dry when worked with on standard paper- 2 hours should be more than plenty of time but it will depend on the type of paper you're using. The only time I've found them to not be permanent is if they're used on a non-absorbent paper (e.g. Yupo). As usual, I would recommend that you try the technique out with the materials you intend on using before applying them to an important piece :)
Another wonderful vid 😀 U should totally be sponsored in some way by any of the companies mentioned. Ur reviews are fantastic. Detailed, informative, interesting and honest. Beautiful peacock, love all the different shades of blue 👍 Peace and paint 🖌️ 🏵️ 💙 🏵️ 🖌️
Thank you for this video! I have a question though. You tested the blue brush pen on lines from fineliner/ballpoint. Did you have the chance to test the yellow brush pen? Yellow markers are mostly the problem. At least in my case it is 😂
I own a 6 pack of these in the light range...black, grey, and peach, skintone ,light indigo. I love them..but the light indigo is practically unseeable...lol. I still use mine combined with my colour pencil :))
I really like the light indigo as a bit of a blender, or layered over the top of other pale colours. Takes a few layers to get it to be visibly saturated though, I agree :)
Sharing a love of all things shiny (in reply to the metallic markers) ❤️ 😍 Great review, I'd been eyeing these up for a while but I'm not so good with marker type products so it was nice to see how you used them in a drawing too, which by the way turned out beautiful!! Glad you commented on my video cause now I've found another great youtube channel to sub to!
Thank you so much, Squeesh! :D Markers are a little intimidating to me too- it's the pale colours I like working with most for layering and shading, and most sets only come with bright, saturated colours. I've found using a palette and brush with them to water them out has opened up so many more opportunities and made me a little more confident.
I wouldn't have thought you felt intimidated even a little bit by markers in this video, you handled them like a pro! I remember seeing another artist a year or so back doing something similar using a palette and brush with markers, so now whenever I see a water-based product I'm like "OO THE POSSIBILITIES!" 😂Although I'm yet to try it... markers are a fear I need to conquer for sure :)
Thank you so much! I'm used to working in very light layer with coloured pencil- and being able to blend and cover over previous layers with lighter ones if need be. Allowing myself to use other mediums with these pens makes the process a bit easier and is why I love mixed media so much- using the strengths of each medium to the fullest effect :)
Yes I totally agree! Mixing media to get the most out of each is the best, and so much fun! ... and it totally justifies how much I spend on art supplies 😂
Nice video Claudia!! I have been using these pens but I am having trouble blending them with a brush.. what medium are you using to blend them in the video?
Thank you! Hmm... well, I can't remember exactly because I've done a lot of pieces since, but if I was to hazard a guess... 5 hours? But... to be honest, if you're asking because you want to know how long things might take you, this number won't really mean anything. I know of people who can create similar work twice as fast, and others who would take twice as long. The best way to estimate your own working speed is to make lots of work and note down the time you spend on them. :)
Hi Claudia. I just received some Pitt Artists Brush Pens. You said in the video that they are water based. Mine are indian ink based and waterproof. I know that the Albrecht Durer are water soluble but did not knew about Pitt artists pen. They are an older version or there are two different products? By the way, Thanks for what you're doing.
Indian ink is waterbased, as opposed to alcohol based :) Something can be waterbased and still permanent once dried too. Your pens are the same as the pens that I reviewed here.
they are only water soluble for a very short space of time whilst they are wet- as soon as they dry they become permanent. They need to be used on a substrate that doesn't just soak the pigment into the fibres immediately- i.e. something with watercolour sizing (a watercolour paper) or YUPO.
Thank you very much for your kind words :) I don't think I used white pen at all in this piece, aside from signing my name at the bottom. I used polychromos pencils for the detail- the white isn't particularly opaque in this set though so I ordinarily wouldn't recommend it for this purpose. (Derwent Lightfast, Derwent Drawing Chinese White or Caran d'Ache Luminance are more opaque options). I know that Faber-Castell also have a white Pitt pen that's archival and lightfast, but I haven't personally tried it.
Hi Claudia First, Thank you for your excellent art channel, I truly enjoyed it. I know you uploaded this video last year but I have a few questions for you, did your set come with a white brush pen? and if so, was it opaque and stark white or muted? Did it layer well? Thank you for your answer beforehand. I wish you well and a wonderful weekend.
I still get notifications for comments on old videos, so I'll still see your comments :D No, this set didn't come with a white pen. I haven't bought the white pen separately so I'm afraid I can't answer your questions. Thank you very much, and you too :)
Hi, I've bought them for Bible journaling as they don't bleed and are permanent. However... I'm a bit concerned about the darkness of them. All blues for example look like different shades of navy, leaf green is very dark. I wonder if I'm doing anything wrong by using them just as they are or there's something wrong with the set I got. Any thoughts?
Can you tell me which archival ink pen to use underneath these pitt brush pens. I have now bought them, but I found my micron and Faber-Castell pitt artist pen smudged when I used these pens directly over it.... Could you please take time and help me out? I will be awaiting your reply. Thanks ♥️
Aishwarya Karthik Darbha I've heard that for micron pens to be waterproof, line work needs to be left overnight or for a day to properly dry. From my experiences with other pens this seems to be true for other archival fine liners.
I have this set, and a couple of my pens look starkly different to your swatches, and maybe that's the paper, but the Light Flesh color looks nothing like the barrel or your swatch, it's a weird kind of gross mix of pinks, greys and browns. Might you know any way that I could try to get it back to its original color?
I own these for 2 or 3 years but ı never used them because ı am too scared that ı'll ruin them ı dont know what kind of paper ı should use these pens on ı have a skechtbook it says you can use ink can ı use them
Bag 0 Bones Gam!ng No, it's just a case of putting down some ink and working over the area with a wet brush before the ink has opportunity to dry. If you put water down first you'll find that you'll not get much ink onto the paper before the ink on the pen tip gets completely diluted with water.
overboardjulia that's going depend absolutely on the paper- I can't really say one way or the other although I think they bleed through just as much as any other water based marker. I've only used them on 224gsm mixed media paper and 300gsm watercolour paper. I've found that the thicker/better quality the more layers and abrasion the paper can take, but have had no bleed through from these papers owing to their thickness.
khyati shekhar At 6:33 in the video I show a page of the leaflet that shows their range of calligraphy Pitt Pens. As for the brush pens, I'm not a hand letterer myself so I don't feel that I comment on this aspect personally. They have a flexible brush tip though, a little on the firmer side that softens up a little with use. I find that the firmness makes the pen easy to control for fine and medium lines, but I'm not sure how this translates to calligraphy.
I haven't tried it. My hunch is that over watercolour would be just fine, but you might have adhesion issues over acrylic (e.g. the pigment might bead or be easily scratched/wiped off).
They are waterbased! It says so in numerous places on Faber-Castell's website. An example, under "Mixing": www.faber-castell.eu/tutorials/Artists/basic-technique-pitt-artist-pen Another example: www.faber-castell.com/pitt-artist-pen-white Inks can be waterbased, yet still be permanent once dry.

Wonderful pens in wonderful hands

I'm so glad you found the video helpful! Thank you very much for watching and commenting :)
good work and very helpful how you test the Pens for the viewers. i know now more about the pens.
I’ve been wanting to get my hands on these markers for a while but didn’t know if they were really good. Lovely review and drawing
Arty Ari Thank you so much, hope that the video was helpful! :)
I like your review and it is very honest . I am thinking about getting some in the future ...I only color not an artist ...
I've had this set of FC pitt brush pens for ages, thanks for the inspiration of different ways I can use them! ps love the peacock :)
You are so welcome!
Wonderful video. I have the 60 set and use it in my Sketchbook. There are so less videos about the pencils and their possibilities. I think your video catches it the best. I love your endresult drawing.
wow such a wonderful artist, you got great piece of art there *u*
great video... useful info... and excellent work on the peacock
Sayanti Fine Arts Thank you very much! I'm pleased you enjoyed the video :)
These pencils are Amazing and i've plan to buy the same set as yours, i love your Design it's Gorgeous and thank you so much for this great video xx
Sylvie Dufour Thank you so much! You must let me know how you like them and what you create!
I am considering buying these as i love Faber Castell an have lots of their products and as i want to start useing such pens they seem interesting, probably if i can get a 48 box for not so much i am booked
I also love FC products! Hope you manage to find a bargain :)
Saw that they just came out with Albrecht Dürer pens, probably similar to these but truly watersoluble. I'm very curious about those too.
Very well done review. It has helped me a lot.
MK Buike Thank you very much for watching and commenting! Glad you like it :)
Such a beautiful drawing/painting!
Thank you so much! :)
So beautiful 😍 i been really wanting to try these. Not just sure are they worth the money. Maybe gonna buy little set first.
Well done review as always, however I'm a little bit unclear on whether or not the brush nibs were flexible or stiff. I think you mentioned they were somewhat flexible but I'm still a little unclear on ir firmness. Thank you so much I really want to get some of these ☺️
The brush is flexible, but they're not as soft as e.g. Sakura Koi or Caran d'Ache Fibralo brush pens.
Research different techniques, experiment and adapt, and see what works best for you ^_^
You're growing better and better ^^
Thank you so much, Lavinia! :D
always the same problem... that's my other account T.T ... well, it's always me ^^
Haha, it's ok Lavinia- I recognise both names :D
awwww ^w^
That is an amazing art piece❤❤❤
Thank you so much! :)
The arrtx marker pad is really good for water based markers, no peeling until the 10th layer.
Wow that bird is amazing! You are so good at drawing animals!!! 😍
Thank you very much :D You're so kind! ^_^
Claudia Sketches just telling the truth :)
Good review! Thanks for that.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Glad you found the review helpful :)
your quality and in depth review is very appreciated.
WOW. Forget the pens, you're amazing!!!!
Thank you :D
Wow I didn't know you could achieve this level of quality with touch markers. Im a copic guy but I might have to give these a try. Beautiful work!
Thank you very much!
These aren't the Touch markers- they're not alcohol based at all. These are different to copics (and touch markers) in that they're waterbased, single-ended and contain pigment based ink- so they're lightfast- which pleases me greatly :D
But you've inspired me, I'm now thinking that perhaps these would pair well with alcohol based markers. Alcohol based markers are excellent for laying down large areas of colour, but these are great at creating bright details and textures. I'll write it down, sounds like something fun to give a go. :)
the fact that these aren't alcohol markers makes it all the more impressive really
I couldn't work out what the thing in front of the peacock was, it looked like feathers but didn't look connected
Hi are these lightfast are they good for drawing are they refillable
Thank you for the great Video! I‘ve searched nearly everywhere for a helpful review of this pens. They‘re doing their Job quite well.
By the way, the peacock is beautiful!
Thank you very much for watching and commenting! Makes me happy to know you found it useful and that you like my drawing too! :D
The only thing I'm not crazy about with these sets is that they are only offered in the brush nibs. The brush nib isn't my favorite in the PITT pens. I have the black 8 set and the brush nib is a little harder to get fine details than the other round/bullet type nibs.
Lovely work
Thank you very much :)
Fantastic video. Thank you 😃
Glad you enjoyed it!
What if I want to use these to line my watercolor art? If I let them dry for 2hrs will they still dissolve with water?
They are permanent when dry when worked with on standard paper- 2 hours should be more than plenty of time but it will depend on the type of paper you're using. The only time I've found them to not be permanent is if they're used on a non-absorbent paper (e.g. Yupo).
As usual, I would recommend that you try the technique out with the materials you intend on using before applying them to an important piece :)
Another wonderful vid 😀
U should totally be sponsored in some way by any of the companies mentioned. Ur reviews are fantastic. Detailed, informative, interesting and honest.
Beautiful peacock, love all the different shades of blue 👍
Peace and paint
🖌️ 🏵️ 💙 🏵️ 🖌️
Maybe one day! :) Thank you very much!
Thank you for this video! I have a question though. You tested the blue brush pen on lines from fineliner/ballpoint. Did you have the chance to test the yellow brush pen?
Yellow markers are mostly the problem. At least in my case it is 😂
Great review and demo, thanks :)
Thank you very much for watching and commenting! Glad you liked it :D
Hi, what type if paper did you use for the peacock? Thanks!
Good day Claudia. Do these pens last long and are they refillable? I'm trying to cut back on landfill.
Thank you.
Sharing a love of all things shiny (in reply to the metallic markers) ❤️ 😍
Great review, I'd been eyeing these up for a while but I'm not so good with marker type products so it was nice to see how you used them in a drawing too, which by the way turned out beautiful!!
Can u explain how are u blending these, like what goes first water or the ink?
Nice video Claudia!! I have been using these pens but I am having trouble blending them with a brush.. what medium are you using to blend them in the video?
Thank you very much! Just water! I explain this technique at 8:40 ;)
what is really close to these pens but is more like a student or hobby grade?
It's beautiful. Could you tell me how long it too you in real time please?
Thank you! Hmm... well, I can't remember exactly because I've done a lot of pieces since, but if I was to hazard a guess... 5 hours?
But... to be honest, if you're asking because you want to know how long things might take you, this number won't really mean anything.
@@ClaudiaSketches Thanks for the answer. I'm learning something new. But still don't get it why yours are soluble and mine aren't. :)
they are only water soluble for a very short space of time whilst they are wet- as soon as they dry they become permanent. They need to be used on a substrate that doesn't just soak the pigment into the fibres immediately- i.e. something with watercolour sizing (a watercolour paper) or YUPO.
Hello! May I know what is the white pen that you used to put highlights on your work? It was beautiful btw! Thanks for sharing!
@@ClaudiaSketches thank you so much!♡
Wow 😮 very amazing picture I really love it 😍 I was just wondering if you could use them as calligraphy pens? As in the brush tip?
Yep! Any brush pen works well for hand lettering. Faber-Castell also sell calligraphy sets with the same ink, but different shaped nibs.
I still get notifications for comments on old videos, so I'll still see your comments :D
No, this set didn't come with a white pen. I haven't bought the white pen separately so I'm afraid I can't answer your questions.
Thank you very much, and you too :)
Thank you for your quick reply. I have decided to buy it anyway and give it a test run. hugs
Well done review
Thank you, glad you think so :)
Thank you for review
Thank you. It’s beautiful
Thanks you very much, glad you think so :)
Hi,
I've bought them for Bible journaling as they don't bleed and are permanent.
Thank you very much Claudia! I will try to lay the micron pen for a day or overnight and try again. Thanks very much for your reply.
I own these for 2 or 3 years but ı never used them because ı am too scared that ı'll ruin them ı dont know what kind of paper ı should use these pens on ı have a skechtbook it says you can use ink can ı use them
Hello. I have the 12 pen set pastel colors
what pen did you use to sign your name?
Honestly can't remember, but it's either the a white Posca marker with the Ultra-Fine nib, or a Sakura Gelly Roll. Both of these are quite opaque.
Great and very helpful video. Thank you so much. :D
Thanks for watching and commenting! So glad you liked it :)
Tusen hjertelig takk for de snille ord :)
Are u just using water as a base to make them bend well?
Bag 0 Bones Gam!ng No, it's just a case of putting down some ink and working over the area with a wet brush before the ink has opportunity to dry. If you put water down first you'll find that you'll not get much ink onto the paper before the ink on the pen tip gets completely diluted with water.
how is the bleed through on notebook paper? I was thinking of buying these for small sketches in my moleskine
overboardjulia that's going depend absolutely on the paper- I can't really say one way or the other although I think they bleed through just as much as any other water based marker. I've only used them on 224gsm mixed media paper and 300gsm watercolour paper. I've found that the thicker/better quality the more layers and abrasion the paper can take, but have had no bleed through from these papers owing to their thickness.
Are these pens good for handlettering and calligraphy?
khyati shekhar At 6:33 in the video I show a page of the leaflet that shows their range of calligraphy Pitt Pens.
Claudia Sketches ...
THANKS A TON!
can one use these brush pens over a layer of water colour/ acrylic colour as a background of the painting?
Have you tried it?
I haven't tried it. My hunch is that over watercolour would be just fine, but you might have adhesion issues over acrylic (e.g. the pigment might bead or be easily scratched/wiped off).
I have these pens - they aren't water based?
They are waterbased! It says so in numerous places on Faber-Castell's website.
An example, under "Mixing": www.faber-castell.eu/tutorials/Artists/basic-technique-pitt-artist-pen
Another example: www.faber-castell.com/pitt-artist-pen-white
Inks can be waterbased, yet still be permanent once dry.
