Miss Jeanne in her prime... but she was always in her prime right up to her passing. No one does comedy like her, male or female. She still is wonderful!

How did she manage to get more and more beautiful and stunning the older she got? I so wish she was still with us.

My god one black winner?????? South Carolina has crowned multiple women of color. North Carolina, 1.

Well, I would think that the skin color shouldn’t be a judging metric. They measure by a lot more than just a woman’s physical looks. It’s quite possible that the black American women in North Carolina don’t often enter this competition due to feeling alienated but the predominantly white audience and contestants 🤷‍♀️
Also, it’s worth realizing that a lot of the winners you’re seeing here come from a time when it wouldn’t have been socially acceptable for black women to compete. Luckily, we now live in a day and age where people aren’t so ridiculous and brainwashed.

@@AK-jt7kh Actually Miss NC lost Miss America 1991 (Marjorie Vincent) to Illinois, and Miss America 2019 (Nia Franklin) to NY. Both were very accomplished BIPOC women. So yes, there might be an issue there.

Why does color matter. Is there a problem? If they were all black would you prefer the blackest one to win. Ignorant people just cook my goose.

Terpmaniac, please. Can you just appreciate the beauty of this list and not try to impose racism where it may not exist? My goodness! (And news flash: White people were an even greater majority in the USA in 1963 than they are now, while we Blacks were a small percentage of the population. Why would you expect us to be in a beauty contest designed to appeal to the aesthetic preferences of the MAJORITY? That's unrealistic and self-centered. We don't belong everywhere.)

@@TheWriterWalker Black women did not win in North Carolina because Black women were not WELCOME. Good grief people figure it out.
