When should you begin to turn the trail hip then? If the idea is to keep the hips out of the way, even holding the hip turn until you are halfway down on the downswing seems too soon. What is the correct sequence of movements on downswing - arms, hips, shoulders?? Confused..

      Thanks for the comment!
It would all depend on how much you turn your hips in the backswing and how high vs deep your hands and arms work in the backswing. The more hip turn you have, and the deeper your hands are, the earlier you could theoretically start turning your hips in the downswing.
I’m generally not a fan of trying to restrict movement too much, so I’d encourage a golfer to create more backswing hip turn or deepen their hand path before I’d tell them to restrict their hip turn in the downswing.
Perhaps they could feel more lateral sway with the hips to start the downswing before then turning them, that could also serve to improve our sequence without “restricting” things too much.
      Hope this helps!

I just straight the right leg as I take the club back leaving some flex in the knee, then I turn. The turn isn't much because I've done most of it in my backswing, but it gives me a little more club head speed. Its amazing how just extending the right leg takes care of so many swing faults.

good to see a true athlete can make a move that involves 6 or 7 swing thoughts, that should work well. Thanks man.

These exact two movements changed my ball striking immensely! Really does improve contact immediately.👍

I'm new to golf and I've been consuming a ton of instructional content. Yours is great! This whole sequencing is super confusing and there's a lot of conflicting thoughts. Putting it all together I think this is how it should work:
    1) Right rear pocket turns towards Target as arms go up
    2) hands stay in front of chest
    3) weight starts to shift back towards front leg halfway through backswing
    4) arms start to come down while right rear pocket stays facing the target
    5) hip start to rotate (think: left rear pocket goes forward and back) in sync with arms halfway through downswing
    6) contact with ball
    7) hips try to turn even faster
    8) arms fully release
    9) arms, upper body and hips finish follow through
What do you think? Does that sound about right?

I would say this all sounds fairly spot on. These would be tremendous things to think about as you make your practice swings with no ball. I love the idea of trying to perfect our rehearsal swings. With that said, I wouldn’t want a golfer trying to think about all those things as they’re trying to hit good golf shots. The swing itself is only about one second, so again I like grinding the rehearsals and then testing your work as you hit shots, ideally just reacting athletically and not overly guiding your movement once the ball is involved. Hope this helps!

If you super slow down the video at 03:10 and let it run till impact, your butt line actually moves closer the ball (the green space to the left of your hips gets larger from set up to impact). My question is what adjustment are you making from there to get the inside out swing? Not hating, just asking.

Thanks for the comment. I think my backswing rotation vs downswing rotation combined with hand path lead to that club path. I definitely have a tendency to early extend, something I always work on. You can early extend and still swing way from inside out though , just about where the club is in relation to your body. Hope this helps!

I just happened to do that today hitting balls to my net by accident lol. My back was to the net my right leg pushing and my left leg bending under weight and my arms had all the room in the world that l had never experienced what a way to hit the bee gees out of the ball by just turning and letting go of the energy stored. Very powerful!
