What I'd like to know is if it's worth it for me. Because I have an acer nitro i7 that uses a built-in Realtek ALC295 @ Intel Comet Lake PCH-LP - cAVS card. Will Creative Sound BlasterX G6 be far superior to Realtek ALC295? What do you think?
Would you recommend this over Sennheiser's GSX 1000? I started searching because I'm currently running my HyperX Cloud II's on a new computer build. I'm connecting my headset via analog directly to my motherboard's sound card (z390 Aorus Master from GIgabyte). What are your thoughts?
Overall the G6 is better than the GSX1000. Especially in stereo direct mode which i use exclusively. The only advantages of the GSX are the better surround sound emulation and that it works without the bloated software from Creative.
I have g6 and gsx 1000 and honestly I don’t see a significant difference in surround sound . Instead is very evident when I use the g6 compared to the gsx1000 a much richer and more gratifying sound detail .
Daniel Vasile the gsx 1000 is great for playing on PC with a very good surround sound but it comes in 16 bits in 7.1 and maximum 24 in stereo hd, while the G6 comes in 32 bits and you feel it above all when you listen to music because you hear a richer sound and detailed. In games instead it is more difficult to notice the differences and perhaps the gsx sourround is slightly better as sound placement, but the G6 seems to have a slightly more detailed sound having a 7.1 in 32 bit. Having both of them, for some games I use the Gsx while for others the G6 and in the end both are good, even if with the G6 you have much more power available because being able to drive headphones up to 600 ohms reaches incredible volume levels.
I've been using the Soundblaster Recon3D on consoles for 5 years. Is this a major improvement? I'm thinking of getting one bit its a bit expensive. Great video, by the way!
I have the Recon3D installed on my secondary computer. Now I don't have a G6 yet but I do have a G5. Based on that I'd say there is an improvement but not necessarily a 'major' one. It amounts to just a bit more punch and clarity. However I do suffer from a degree of hearing loss so you might notice things I do not.

Oh, well, I'm using it in a weird way, I guess: "I connected it to my mini-PC (Lenovo Tiny, i7, Windows 11) and hooked it to my Marantz amp with optical out. I enabled SPDIF Direct Out on SoundBlaster Command Center software. I already have Boom 3D installed on my computer. Since I like it so much, I use it to set my EQ there. My Marantz (PM7000N) is hooked up to Klipsch speakers (RF-82)." That's it. What was I saying? Oh, yes, I have an awesome sound! I suggest this setup to anyone with varied taste in music and who is only into music. Suggested first track: "To the Threshold of Silence, "World's Edge, Steve Roach"." Get a bottle of wine. Call your girlfriend over. It'll be the f**k of the century. 😁
I got some Sennheiser HD 6XX for Christmas and have just ordered one of these, I'm assuming now that they'll be powered properly by one of these things I'm going to notice a huge difference in sound quality? The headphones currently aren't being powered by anything special that could run 300 ohm headphones.
I just got the g6 and it sounds amazing on the dt 990pros. However my mod mic is not working on this dac amp. My mic works on my hyper x headset with the g6 just not a mod mic. Not sure if its the dac amp or just a bad mod mic I got.
are there times when the amp cuts out? and you have to disconnect the power cord from the g6 and connect it again? It happens at random times but mostly when I enter a program or any game. The audio cuts out and I have to disconnect and reconnect
Is there a way to mute the mic on the unit itself? The manual mentions some controls but I can't tell if its controlling mic output or the amount of loopback to hear yourself.
So, if you plug this directly into your optical audio out, and plug the USB into a wall adapter, will it work for stuff like satellite, or whatever else is hooked up to the TV?
@@PumpiPie The G6 includes and supports Dolby Digital Decoding, features the X-Amp amplifier which drives the left and right headphones separately, has a DAC that is 32 bit / 384khz capable, delivers a DNR up to 130 dB, is compatible with the Nintendo Switch, and has a low output impedance. The G6 can drive Headphones with an impedance as low as 1 ohm, all the way up to 600 ohms. The G5 on the other hand does not officially support the Nintendo Switch (as far as I know), has a 24 bit/ 192 kHz DAC, does NOT have Dolby Digital Decoding, doesn't have the X-Amp, has a DNR of up to 120 dB, and will support and drive headphones starting at 2.2 ohms and up to 600 ohms. The G5 also lacks RGB lighting on the X logo on the face of the unit, as well as RGB lighting around the ring surrounding the volume knob. The G6 has this added as an extra touch. The G5 also has one major difference in that it features both a USB micro and a full size USB-A input in the back of the unit, while the G6 gets rid of the USB-A input in favor of just the one USB Micro input. All in all, the G6 is the superior product, with improvements across the board. If you get the chance to buy one, I'd get it over the G5 any day.
@@PumpiPie As far as the G6 vs the X-Fi HD, I would say the two products are completely different in that they're aimed at and marketed towards different use cases. The G6 is first and foremost an external passively powered USB Gaming DAC/Amp. It has features that are made to enhance your gaming experience such as the Scout mode which equalizes the sound in a way that emphasizes gunshots, footsteps, explosions and more (changes depending on the game) giving you an edge over your opponents. You can customize your sound profile with the software it comes with (a separate download) to your preferences as well. The X-Fi HD amp, while cheaper, is an older product which is made to be used with Home Stereos, vinyl turntables, PC's and Laptops. While it does feature a USB Micro input on the back, I cannot guarantee it will work with gaming consoles. The X-Fi HD only supports and outputs Stereo Sound, can drive headphones up to 330 ohm, and can amplify up to 113 dB. It can be used for Gaming, but it won't be anywhere near as good as the G6. The G6 simply blows it out of the water with improvements in features, guaranteed support for most gaming consoles and full support for PC's and Laptops. Don't forget the G6/G5 can also be used for Smartphones, Home Theater systems (if you really want to I guess, using optical in/out), and TVs. It's not limited to gaming either, you can use it for music and movies as well. If I were you, I would be looking only at the G5 and G6 for gaming, that is, if you want to stick with Sound blaster. I hope this helps.
@@PumpiPie Of course! I forgot to mention the G5 also has the Scout Mode Feature, however I think going with a used G6 or a G6 on sale is a great option. Good luck and enjoy!
Hey, what's the big diff between g5 and g6? G5 is cheaper, it has a usb port (connect your mouse or keyboard there) and it won't save pc settings if disconnected, am I right?? I'm wondering about these 2.
If I'm exclusively into HQ music playback in the quality range of Asus STX or STX II and not into gaming, would the SBX G6 still be a reasonable choice?
Sound yes, but probably you'll suffer from software quality, I have AE-5 and G6 is a mobile version, so if you want stable and user-friendly software - use Asus.
I hope you do an extensive audio quality review on the axon 9 pro and it's usb-c crаp, and comparing it to the axon 7's still unbeaten audio jack capabilities.

I had this for a few months and the volume knob hasn't even worked, idk if it's something to do with firmware, so I just hook it up to a speaker with scout mode and that's the only way I've been playing, I don't regret it but I would like to use my headphones I just don't wanna damage my ears cause there's no volume control
Biggest issue I’ve had so far, is the Xbox One X will not work with my Behringer Xenyx Q802USB or Allen & Heath ZEDI 10, even though both of them work fine on the PS4 Pro, Nvidia Switch and PC, all via a USB style “KVM” switch. In this instance, Microsoft reminds me of Apple. Locking out popular hardware, that legitimately would only give their product more appeal. Because hell, I continue to favour buying games on the PS4 Pro over the Xbox One X, simply because I like my own headphones and mic combo, on whichever USB interface I choose to use. They work with everything else I have.
JuanBagnell that too, but, even when there is a choice. We know Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be great fun. It’s coming to the 2 big ones straight up, just like GTA V did. And the choice of console becomes a choice between the likely slightly better graphics on the XBoneX, or being able to use my existing audio setup that allows me to switch between whichever device I want to use the interface, mic and headphones with, along with whatever else I’ve got patched into the interface.

If you need good input/output, you might want to shop an inexpensive audio interface instead? Otherwise, for just audio out, there are some KILLER mini dacs now that weren't around when this original came out. The main reason I would look at shopping Creative now isn't just "good audio hardware", it would be if you really want to try the game directional audio features.

It amounts to just a bit more punch and clarity. However I do suffer from a degree of hearing loss so you might notice things I do not.
Will the Sound BlasterX G6 run the Logitech G Pro X well?
I am asking because Logitech uses their own audio card and I wonder if that might mess with the G6
Atmixx I am using it to run my G933 in wired mode and it’s noticeable what a difference it made.
@@Damageinc84 Allright, sweet! Thanks for the answer, man

Hello Mate,
I am have plans to buy
this one-Sound BlasterX H7 Tournament Edition HD 7.1 Gaming Headset to have a right match.
I am planning to use it with the USB and then uninstall the software and install the G6 software for using it in Analog with DAC.-Creative Soundblasterx G6
Can buy this headset for using G6 DAC for improvized sound for my movies and music including occasional FPS?
Kind regards,
Pradeep Rajkumar.

I gave my omnisound 5.1 to my brother and using the epos 300.. and the omnisound is way better.. today tinkered with it and watched some documentaries and it was another experience on the omnisound.. and am planning to get this next month
I have the Astros A50 wireless headset for my Xbox One X, would this product enhance the sound even better?
Yes i have the a 50
@@marek3236 is the gained audio experience maintained through the wireless A50? Or does it lose quality through the base station?
I got some Sennheiser HD 6XX for Christmas and have just ordered one of these, I'm assuming now that they'll be powered properly by one of these things I'm going to notice a huge difference in sound quality? The headphones currently aren't being powered by anything special that could run 300 ohm headphones.
Did you get the boost your were hoping for? I have this dac/amp and just bought the HD6XX
@@AffableGuacamole Yes I did. You need to turn the gain switch to H but it worked out perfectly!
Can you theoretically connect this to a tv or bluray player? And will the settings you set on your pc carry over things like 7.1 surround?
I just got the g6 and it sounds amazing on the dt 990pros. However my mod mic is not working on this dac amp. My mic works on my hyper x headset with the g6 just not a mod mic. Not sure if its the dac amp or just a bad mod mic I got.
are there times when the amp cuts out? and you have to disconnect the power cord from the g6 and connect it again? It happens at random times but mostly when I enter a program or any game. The audio cuts out and I have to disconnect and reconnect
I have not seen anyone else have this problem!
Schönes, sehr interessantes Video! Danke!
🙂👍
Is there a way to mute the mic on the unit itself? The manual mentions some controls but I can't tell if its controlling mic output or the amount of loopback to hear yourself.
Should I get this or the g5? And also what is the difference between them.
G5 cheap only has 24 bit sound but most site never stream higher then 24 bits.
Can you connect speakers to this sound card ?
So, if you plug this directly into your optical audio out, and plug the USB into a wall adapter, will it work for stuff like satellite, or whatever else is hooked up to the TV?
Chris Boire Yes.
Sound BlasterX G6 vs Sound Blaster X-Fi HD?
Sound Blaster X-Fi HD is like half of the price of the Sound BlasterX G6 :/
And whats the different from G5 and G6?
Thank you for the answer :D
Where impressive and in detail
@@PumpiPie Of course! I forgot to mention the G5 also has the Scout Mode Feature, however I think going with a used G6 or a G6 on sale is a great option. Good luck and enjoy!
... It doesn't have 5.1 dts or dolby digital ? does it ? ... where are the drivers then ?
Too late for me. Worked in manufacturing for 30 years hearing is gone.... At least I cannot hear my wife yelling at me now. xD
LOL
Hey, what's the big diff between g5 and g6? G5 is cheaper, it has a usb port (connect your mouse or keyboard there) and it won't save pc settings if disconnected, am I right?? I'm wondering about these 2.
Can you connect studio monitors to this DAC?
So true. Coming from a guy with Advent Prodigy Towers connected to noisy buzzy on board Realtek sound :( I know..... For shame!

How would this work alongside the DT990 pro headphones and a usb mic?!
Hello, I have a sound card G1 and headset hyperx cloud alpha... Upgrade on G6 ? yes or no? ... will there be a big difference in sound? .. THX :)
I'm reaching out but ZTE doesn't seem much interested in USA reviewers my size.
is this a 7.1 virtual audio? cause i can only see a single jack out on it (usually stereo output)
xfdccd sr2dctd only optical out
But can you save settings to the device like the Recon3D USB? Not sure if this is an upgrade as Creative said 7.1 is PC only.

IS this device charging from pc/Phone while using or not?
Well that and Spider-Man... and God of War...
@SomeOldFatDude Man you should switch over to PC gaming. If you switch over you will never look back at lame consoles again.

When you turn the volume wheel, you mention it' smooth, but it looks wobbly, was it like this out of the box ? Thx.
its means that u cant turn the wheel too easily, and even if you do make a large turn, the volume wont go up too much and BLOW YOUR EARS. You need to turn the wheel a lot to get the highest volume
have it broken? I read some reviews, they said creatives products break easily. I'm using DT990 Premium 250 ohm right now. But i don't know which AMP/DAC should i buy? I have 150-160$ budget.

Does the astro a40 work with this or its going to be a problems since Astro a40 is headset with mic?
Would a home theatre receiver do the same is the sound blaster?
I have a circa 2016 MSI SLI plus motherboard, and after a Windows update a couple years ago completely lost audio. I get the dreaded "Failed to play Test Tone" message. What I need is a way to get audio back on this PC. (Yes I tried every possible driver update and even downgrades nothing helps).
I was thinking pcie sound card but this G6 is certainly enticing! Anyone care to chime in if they think it will work?
If you need good input/output, you might want to shop an inexpensive audio interface instead? Otherwise, for just audio out, there are some KILLER mini dacs now that weren't around when this original came out.
The main reason I would look at shopping Creative now isn't just "good audio hardware", it would be if you really want to try the game directional audio features.
Also, I believe PS4 only outputs stereo over USB, so using optical is the only way to get 5.1 Dolby into the device.
Interesting. I'm going to have to take a second listen. I think I was overly wow'ed by the Scout mode.
@@SomeGadgetGuy I have the older Recon3D USB and since it uses the same chip as the G6, I would think the decoding would be similar although the amp obviously has been improved. You do have to make sure the PS4 is set to output optical Dolby and not USB audio though.
Thanks for the heads up! I have more gaming gear to test, so it'll be fun revisiting this!
