7800 xt vs 7900 GRE, $500 vs $550, at "normal" environments, paying 10% more for 5-6% might be worth it, obviously when OC the latter will give a decent boost (10-15%) but at higher consumption (300W+), meanwhile the 7800 xt can be lowered to 195-210W while losing 1-3%. Unless there is another price error on the GRE (Powercolor Fighter for $500), is better to look out on a decent 7800 xt AIB model (mostly Hellhound, very well rounded, and can be at MSRP).
XFX has good cards
Reminds me of the 6600GT vs the 6800XT. Two different class cards, but very similar in performance out the box. The 6600GT actually won in lower resolutions, but the 6800XT had the legs at higher resolutions like 1024x768 and beyond. The 6800XT only cost 10% more. Was it worth it? Depends what you needed it for.
Not 480p vs 768p today. But more like 1440p vs 4K.
you deserve atleast 100k subscribers, man. thx for real testing, not fake as at many other channels
7900 GRE is so much ahead of anything you throw at it, especially differs at ray-tracing enabled titles when compared to 7800 XT. I'm so glad I switched to 7900 GRE from 6700 XT.
Lol now my dream is the rx 6700xt 😢
6700 XT is still a great card. Just not for anything above 1080p if you want high fps.
@@VanjaStojanovic I just upgraded from the RX 6700 XT and 1440p is all I played with it.
The Division 2 would eat 10gb VRAM at Max settings and still get a solid 110 FPS @1440p
4 FPS ahead wow
@@oswaldjh that's expected considering it's a 5 years old title...try games released in last 6 months.
good video, been debating on either getting the 7700 xt or 7800 xt.
also, why not test some games on the list on more fps heavy areas or with gameplay/progress. BG3 in act 3, Cyberpunk gameplay, Palworld with a full base with pals working, etc.
Just bought the RX 7600 XT and been quite happy with the card. Wish they added a few more core count to justify the price but it still is a solid card, and the 16gb already comes in handy for re4r and tlou.
7800xt the goat, it will be fondly remembered like the 1080ti
No rdna 3 card will ever be remembered. There is no reason for it to be.
@$$$ nicoyt9481
@@nicoyt9481 same count for the GTX 1000 series, everybody who say the GTX 1080ti is a good card is just a loser because the GTX 1080ti never mean to be a 1080p card and somebody who played in QHD back then who got the card will not go back to FHD and paly games like that, he will go and upgrade from a GTX 1080ti to a RTX 2080/ti.
Most AMD cards are better when it comes to Long time support and provide way better FPS then longer people have them, and all because the AMD cards have more Vram and better Driver support, on Nvidia you are out of the support already when there's a new generation, on AMD you can use ther newest Feautures even with older cards.
the RTX 3000 series is a failure over and over way too less vram on every card.
RTX 4000 is way to overpriced and the RTX 4060 is nothing more then a joke for it's price and performance.
RTX 4070 is a good card but when people come here and say "but it is better in raytracing" to be honest this card is shit in raytracing no matter what somebody want to say, get a Rx7800xt and use AFMF if you want to use RayTracing and you will be shocked how wounderfull games will run with that card even with raytracing and no FSR enabled.
But even a Rx7700xt is good for it's falue, the RTX 4000 cards had to be way cheaper to be good, everyone want a RTX 4090 but nobody can afford the power bills to run that card and if you have a Ryzen 5600 or a Intel 11/12 gen 12600/12700 then they are a bottleneck for 1080p for a RTX 4070ti / Rx7800xt already.
So people have to play in 1440p but this cost more because monitor cost more and you have to upgrade each generation if you want to hold the high fps in that area.
4k is something that is kinda stupid and useless because even the RTX 4090 cant display max out games in 4k with 60 fps without downscaling DLSS.
Shocked ? but it is the truth.
meh, it's a pretty weak upgrade over the rx 6800 xt
its definitely not bad though, especially for the price
rdna 3 in general is just meh, but it is still better than whatever nvidias 4000 series is
6600GT and HD4770 both destroy the 1080Ti for price vs performance.
1080Ti was a GREAT card, but certainly not the GOAT.
Good Video as always Jegs, I just got the ASRock RX 7700 XT Challenger OC 12GB, and I want to ask if the performance differ from model to model. Also, I want to ask you if a 2 fans model good or not specially the Challenger series.
Thank You.
Marginal difference in terms of fps performance between models. Thermals however are a different question. Top tier models usually have better thermals.
You should understand that this is the 2nd echelon of video card manufacturers, but it's still a brand, it's better than any nouname from China anyway. In some cases, only such cards can be installed.
@@Lorkran Asrock is 2nd echelon? I didn't know tbh. I hope it turnes good finally.
@clomixgaming8748 i run a A770 Challenger, works great imo. The 7900 GRE is however a Steel Legend, but it also draws more power.
much appreciated
the GRE supposedly have very high OC headroom compared to all GPUs. i hear that extra %13-%15 performance should be easy compared to typical %5-%8. would love to see this in the future. Also wold you pls consider putting average FPS of all games in the end.
already made a video on this. check the channel :)
I have a similar system; i7 12700F instead of R5 7600 (they have very similar performance in benchmarks), and an ASUS TUF 7900GRE. It only manages 2380mhz on the memory, but it runs maxed out on the core, 2803mhz. I averaged 107 fps in the Cyberpunk benchmark with the same settings.
Can you add Resident Evil 4 remake in your tests?
why not anno 1800?
Mate, you need to raise the armrests 😁
i'm sad that there is no more Helldivers 2 tests in your recent videos
Same, but unfortunately it's just not a good game for benchmarking because there is no way to get consistent results.
Finally, someone gets it. The game is way too random to do a comparison benchmark
@@JegsTV @gravirict7108 im not demanding for a benchmark. it would just be really cool if this channel could help me with my purchase decision since i am planning for an upgrade and the only game i play is helldivers 2. this channel has been really in depth and tested the widest varieties of gpus on youtube so far.
Bro can u recommend a gpu fro gta 6 in 1080p? Im so confused right now because i think the 4060 will be enough😒
We can only speculate at the moment. But my best bet on a relatively budget gpu for it would be the rx 6700 xt.
Problem is gta 6 will only release on consoles first, then pc probably a year or so later... that sucks
4060? You're actually considering PAYING NVIDIA YOUR MONEY for that DOGSHIT card? THIS is the problem with GPU's.
Nvidia releases a media centre class card, that cannot even do 60fps at 1080p in modern titles on day one, and charges $300 for it .... AND IT SELLS LIKE HOTCAKES!!!! To morons the world over.
Have some self respect, as a gamer. And vote with your wallet. Unless you want us all to suffer a $500 media centre card in the RTX5060.
So: the very bottom of the market was already 6600-4060, now the middle has come out and a little earlier above the average (4070-7900GRE). Now it would be necessary to make the very top (4070ti - 4080S). And wait for AMD R5-9600 :-)
thank you for keep posting your gpus test with AMD 7600... a cpu that I will buy this year...
Get the newer 9600X instead, it will release this month.
@@_TrueDesire_ no if the price would be higher than 7600.. my budget stick to 7600 price..
@@oktofio9690 we will soon see the pricing of the new generation 👍🏻
Grab a 6750XT if you can. Or make the bump to 7700XT. Then you're golden for 3-4 years.
@TheVanillatech but he said cpu :>
The 7700XT won't make it past 2 years is the vram demands will continue to rise, but on the other hand by then it would be good for an upgrade.
I switched from an OCd 7800xt to a 7900gre OCd and i can tell you its worth the bump. Way more OC ability with the 7900gre, It's way more consistent and runs cooler.
What silly side grade.....?
Yeah I'll lose 30-40% value on my current new card to buy almost the same card again.
@TheVanillatech Silly comment. You don't even know how the 7900gre works do you. All you see are benchmarks from a stock perspective versus the OC potential on the gre. Also, using the 7800xt for a friend's build. So no, no money lost.
@@JC-nn7hp No mate. Nothing I said was *silly* based on the information I had at hand. AND yes, I do know how the 7900GRE "works". Cos I've been buying PC GPU's since the mid to late 90's. I've bought ... SCORES of them. I've benchmarked HUNDREDS of them. And I've sold THOUSANDS of them.
Cheers.
@TheVanillatech Then you should know you don't lose "30-40% value" on a slightly used gpu to begin with. Nor do I believe you know how the gre works. Unless, of course, you have one yourself. Then you would know it's a better value. If you're one for overclocking.
@@JC-nn7hp so you just like throwing money away?
Vs. Rx 6950 xt, Rx 6950xt Wins!!👍Paired with a 7800x3d and youve been plenty good for a while and still winning!
Hoping they release a 8900GRE which is more efficient for similar money, I will jump on it
Please bring the TLOU tests. TLOU, the game that challenges the main systems
no.. a game that can challenge any systema is Alan wake 2.. TLOU is still unoptimized.. you still can see some stutters in some scene in TLOU...
In morocco the rx 7700xt is arround 500 dollars and the rx 7800 xt is arround 700 dollars
Hellblade 2 ?????
It looks you don't anything more than a 7600 for gaming or an i5 13600k. I think the i5 13600kf is a bit overpriced where i am from. Its about a hundred dollars more than the 7600.
Kinda odd how the 7900GRE had lesser utilization and frames than the 7800XT at times.
bottleneck on 1080p on games like black desert, tarkov. check the GPU usage.
In 1080p the Ryzen 7600 will bottleneck both cards
@thesimpleway1998 not by much, well relatively. In 1080p with a 4090, there's around 16-20% difference between 7600 and 7800x3D. Or in frames measured ~230 vs 191 fps. Averaged across 25 games, found on TPU. But who buys a 4090 to play at 1080p in the first place? 😅
Isn't 7600 a bottleneck for the 7800 and 7900 GPUs ?
It is on some games in 1080p
All AMD systems?
Automatic Like!
The RX 7600 XT would be good if it was under 270 €.
Get the GRE and skip coming generation in peace ✌️😊
Boss goods ba yung amd r7 5700x sa rx 7700 xt?
@@princejohndalit6553 yes goods naman yan.
@@JegsTV or should i go sa r5 7600?
@@princejohndalit6553 mas mahal mag build sa am5 platform pero kung may budget naman why not. mas mabilis ipc performance nyang r5 7600 compared sa r7 5700x which translates to better fps especially on 1080p.
Yo HD 2. I am a daily player too. For democracy
CPU limited for 7800 and 7900!!
bottlenecks and all are all part of the test mate.
I just bought a 7900 gre and the small performance bump from the 7800 XT to the 7900 GRE doesn’t seem like it’s worth it lol. Especially since you get two games with the 7700 and 7800 right now…. I’ll have to work on overclocking my card.
Wait wdym you get 2 games? Like 2 games your choice or random?
@@dahood429 so I’ve only done it once and I think what they do is they give you vouchers? So AMD does this game thing a lot and I don’t know if there’s a time limit on when you can use the voucher but you basically login you create an account and you get two vouchers and you get to choose the game based on what the promotion is. I’m not sure if you can save them and wait for a game you like to come out? I don’t think I’m explaining this very well. Right now I believe one of the games is avatar frontiers of pandora and I can’t remember what the other one is. But in like a month, the new Star Wars game is coming out and I am wondering if you could save it until then or if they will have that as an option? Like when I purchased my 6750 xt it was the Calista protocol and a zombie game I never played and then a few months later they had Jedi Survivor.
@@dahood429 update so the games you get to choose from right now or avatar, lies of P, Starfield and company of heroes 3
I agree if you find the card for 499 it's worth it tho
@@JesManVP oh I agree if it’s $500 but its not. Maybe on Black Friday or during prime days.
