You can see it on Redman's face before he blows the horn on the first song. The amount of sincerity, thought, emotion and spirituality invoked, involved and summoned. Love is the answer 02:30
I caught Joshua at the Clearwater Jazz Holiday several years ago. Even then he was clearly a force to be reckoned with. I am so pleased to see him now collaborating with the Bad Plus. They are making music of the highest order! BRAVO gentlemen!!
seen 'em three times in Knoxville--first in 2011 They peeled the paint of the Bijou Theatre and were then surprised when the whole place jumped to it's feet and yelled above thunderous applause...they keep evolving and Redman is a stroke of genius
I'm old now and just smile when people say they hate jazz. I think to myself that they're the sort of people who travel to foreign countries and assume everyone's speaking jibberish. :-D
BPJR was my first time seeing the Bad Plus live (same set as this) and I was absolutely blown away! Now I just wish someone could find video or audio of the shows they did with Kurt Rosenwinkel.
Jeezus, that's actually spot on. I was thinking it was Ornette-like but let's face it, that K.J.A.Q. was a continuance of that "sound" . What's insane about this band's depth is the way they touch a ballad like "People Like You", after turning over tables in some of the other songs earlier.
With all the praise I have to say honestly the band strains to keep up with Joshua in the fast swing moments, I do love the group so much it hurts me to say it.
Probably THE post-jazz group... which still manages to be "jazz". A lot of people won't get it because they're expecting the typical language and cliches.
'People Like You' and 'Silence is the Question' are just so ridiculously good
Wish the collaboration had lasted longer. Superb.
People Like You is such a gorgeous song

14:03 I feel sorry for people that dislike jazz because they will never know what THAT feels like.
are you god or what ?
Slightly before that you could see Redman's fervent passion in his play. ❤️
Great time stamp. That lady is groooooovin'.
I'm old now and just smile when people say they hate jazz. I think to myself that they're the sort of people who travel to foreign countries and assume everyone's speaking jibberish. :-D
Honestly, I'd rather folks just say they Hate jazz, rather than Embracing Smooth Jazz like Spyro Gyra, Kenny G, etc, & attempting to call that "Jazz"
At last I found what I was looking for.

Feeling some very heavy Keith Jarrett American Quartet vibes during "2 P.M."

is that a flat ride Mr. King has?
Well it sound like his E and A are a bit off.
@@manolos95 🦊🤤🤣🙏🤣🤤🦊
All drummers now just play an extended similar version of jack dejhonet drum style
leaderless ? and we talk about music of the bad plus without redman? where are you...
The upright bass seems to have gone out of tune from being left on stage? It's all over the place! really flat!
In his defense, it was probably really humid out. I live near Detroit, been to the festival.
The saxophone ruined this lovely song.
