Bring back old characters and making better soundtracks
@26:34 @26:43 bless another Kuru laugh 🙏
As a fan of NFS, Forza, CoD, Halo and Assassin's Creed, I have no feelings about this. I'll be positive when I see the final version of the game being good.
Criterion should seriously bring Pendulum music in Unbound. Hold Your Colour was one of the best albums ever!
Can't wait to blame Kuru if the next NFS is bad
Lol 😂

Bruh what?

Realest comment.
Hearing reassuring words from developers honestly means nothing in 2024. We all know developers want what's best for the game, but they always end up rushed by greedy management that doesn't know anything about making a game
This gave me PTSD as a software dev
Touching on this, I hope one of the feedback points they gave was to take their time. Not holding my breath, but I genuinely hope they're given sufficient time to craft a solid triple-A NFS title.
Very true, like that for more than decade
@@BombiN0 How much time do they realistically need? Remember the last three NFS all took about 2 years to make, which is... a LOT. Now game development has of course changed drastically over the years but I would say they have a pretty solid timescale to work with, especially when you consider just how much stuff each game reuses from the previous titles. I don't want to wait almost three years for what's might be Unbound 2.5, or Heat 2.5, or whatever. It's a waste of everyone's time.
The problem isn't how much time they have. It's their TERRIBLE management of it. That's the one thing that actually needs to change, and no one seems to ever address it.
They don't want the best for the game... They only want their bank accounts to grow larger, nothing else
11:58 "you guys can get excited again" We will talk about this again when the next game will be officially revealed. I don't have high hopes
My feedback?
- dynamic day and night system
- no health bar
- better story. no more cringe
- better soundtrack but i understand everyone has a different taste
- map should be more city focused
@@tim0517 health bar is good, i don't want to crash endlessly without consequences
@@TheNicoxoxDimo health bar only worked in 2010 where the cops were players too, everywhere else it's more of a handicap that limits the skill ceiling and potential for the AI cops to be more of a threat
@@TheNicoxoxDI understand why ppl dont like the health bar system, but i want cars to get more... Beefy so i could pay back for all war crimes that has been commited on me in redview county)

NFS back again!?
This feels like deja-vu from 2014. Crazy that almost 10 years have passed since NFS got a reboot and now it's happening all over again.
You know, the good ol' "have you tried turning it off and on again?"
As much as I'd love them to listen properly, I HIGHLY doubt any significant change will ever happen nowadays.
It's the same old story since what, 2015? They invite some influencers/content creators over, they tell us "they're listening, guys, really", and in the end either they don't listen, or then implement the changes, but really poorly.
Prove me wrong Criterion, but we all know how lackluster the new NFS games are, as much as I still like them.
That's what we all want Criterion to proof they can do it!
@@KuruHS OMG Kuru! Hiii! :)
Yeah, I want that too, but like I said, I'm really sceptical just because they didn't deliver on the same promises we got in the past. Shame, really.
they really did listen in 2015, it's a perfect game community request vibe aesthethic visual wise,
gameplay, physics, handling wise, we don't talk about that
@@derpedfox That just sums up Unbound unironically. Shiny visuals with hollow to none actual gameplay features
If this can be mentioned at the next meeting. Bringing back EA trax, being able to set what song plays during when was nice. I hate having to skip songs mid race
Was mentioned ;)
Did you also mention about the need for rock music to return in NFS too?
@@Johnny-ux7yi it doesnt need to return lol
@@jugger17 i respectfully disagree.
the recent NFS games have been severely lacking in variety and have felt like glorified Top 40 playlists with Heat and Unbound focusing on Reggaeton and Trap.
@@Johnny-ux7yi My personal take is just looking into more under-the-radar artists and producers in general. Though if it were up to me, I'd definitely lean into DnB (ala Midnight Club) or trance (think Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune) a ton (lack of variety is also not necessarily a bad thing, though the music thing ultimately is subjective).
To realistically solve this issue would be just integrating custom playlists or Spotify. and on the topic of rock, why NFS never tried adding J-rock to their licensed tracks is still a little odd to me.
"They gonna take our criticism this time round" i feel like i heard that before. (not sure who i heard it from but it was need for speed related)
I love shitting on things that I'm not sure on for the sake of shitting on it

Most likely Blackpanthaa as he's the only other guy I can think of. Love Theo but yeah. Everything usually happens like this every other year

no more health bar, black box style handling, good cops
also, damage models like in High Stakes and Pro Street
God nfs the run had the best handling
Also, nfs 2015 graphics and atmosphere
@@niloyck2540It was interesting but nah
I disagree on the health bar, the health bar makes the pursuits more challenging and fun. Rivals and Hot Pursuit did it best imo. Taking the health bar away would make the pursuit easier even against harder cops. I think it would be fine if they properly balance the health/damage system in a way so that the player doesn't get damaged for hitting or ramming the cop. I hate how Heat did the health/damage system where if you even tap the police, you will get damaged.
"Some people say give the customers what they want, but that's not my approach. Our job is to figure out what they're going to want before they do. I think Henry Ford once said, 'If I'd ask customers what they wanted, they would've told me a faster horse.' People don't know what they want until you show it to them. That's why I never rely on market research. Our task is to read things that are not yet on the page." - Steave Jobs
Guess it's time for the NFS youtubers to perform this song and dance again.... See you when the next NFS2015 derivative drops
I mean it sucks they have to overhype it and then it turns out to be trash. But if they're paying Kuru for it, I'm good with it.
It is the same song and dance, they invite players out to get “feedback” but only for legal reasons. Yes they talked to Criterion but they’re still a part of EA. Sadly these content creators just become a scapegoat if the game is not the way the fans want it and despite if they pay him I feel bad for them because if it ends up being bad we’re going to look at Kuru and others like “dude what happened?”
@@crusader13 eh, as long as we know the drill it's alright, free money for him, low hopes for us...as always
tbf, a NFS2015 with good handling and some event variation wouldn't be all that bad
@@TheGhoulKhz bad? No. But we should stop encouraging them to keep bar so low for a change. I don't want a fixed 2015, modders have already done that to an extent. EA should be able to deliver much more than some blokes in their parents' homes. And part of the decay is because that's all we ever ask: "JUST MAKE MOST WANTED BUT WITH BETTER GRAPHICS THAT WOULD BE GOTY", "Make nfs 2015 but without the uncool" instead of, say "how about you release a game with development time, less guest characters that are worth a ton on money, throw the cash it into fleshing out the core gameplay instead, perhaps making a more compelling story than just "'cops bad bc they took my ricer car I caused property damage and ran over 4673 pedestrians with" . Throw some good brands, add some legacy cars other than just that fucking M3, the Golden Skyline and the Green Z for a change, but only after you are done with making the game feel right to play. Fuck putting good visuals over good gameplay, prioritize gameplay. Keep the things people praised about the game (customization, tuning, whatevs) keep improving the formula, but don't just stop there and call it a day until the next game arrives.
It's clearly not gonna change, but maybe if at least we looked like we weren't gonna buy their games if they keep reducing costs to make more profit and abandon it a few months later, they would be a bit more concerned about their fucking game.
For the music, they need to have range, they need variety to be honest, GTA Vs soundtrack has become timeless for this exact reason, there’s alot of music for everyone and thats what NFS needs soundtrack wise
The music thing is subjective and variety isn't necessarily a bad thing (Maximum Tune and Initial D do this well), but I think NFS historically played around with a mix of hip hop, rock, and EDM. Though frankly I'd be fine if we had a largely trance-focused NFS, something I've seen in other games yet not NFS.
GTA V🤓🤓 BLUD every single gta game had really good music .
NFS Mw,Carbon and both ug games had goated music
@@rono7964 UG2 had a mid soundtrack tbh
I swear we go through this with every release, and the same thing happens…time will tell if history repeats itself.
I’m not going to lie, Kuru this is one of those moments where I can’t help but feel ominous about it all. Regardless of the devs doing what players want - publisher is going to want to monetise the shit out of it. Along with the other people in this comment section, if this new NFS doesn’t end up improving upon Unbound then this’ll a curse for you and other content creators.
I think one good idea would be if Criterion made a full remake/remaster of MW05/Underground 2 to basically "learn" what worked for these games, to then build on that. Starting with Unbound and going "how do we make this good" might not be the way to go.
There isn't really much to learn imo, a lot of what worked back then worked only back then, like more closed tracks that allowed cops to be more pushy, piss filter cuz that was to go-to identity in MW, the soundtrack followed what was popular back then, newer games just follow a modernized version of that formula. Also, a lot of other stuff are much more leaned towards personal preference rather than facts, like the handling, customization, artsyle and music
theres a huge diff between a remaster and a remake
That’s not their problem
the next NFS is either gonna be super good and everyone loves it
OR it will be the last NFS...
Picture this,
A game that has the prostreet story that follows a grassroots style racing series that has the heat and unbound night racing aspect would be awesome. Carry over the kings of each displine where you have to beat them both in day and night in order to take their spot
Would be fun if you got to progress from the ProStreet grassroots races to the Shift/Shift 2 professional leagues, something like Grid Legends maybe? Bonus points if there's a mission with the police chasing you on a racetrack because you stole a prototype race car or something of the sort
Personally, I'd like if we had something akin to PS but with a team management system. Maybe something like Grid 2008, perchance.
So basically two worse NFS Games combined? What a nightmare...
@@niksobil "we made the game wrong on purpose, as a joke"
I hope they keep pushing the envelope of experimental art styles in some form, it would be a shame if they chalked up Unbound's failure to mostly the art and go back to being safe/generic
I think they do it different, Unbound was too drastic in few areas but I think driving effects will be in next nfs, just in another form
@@Zakon_bypretty much the only thing I actively didn't like was the jump wings being too big and/or opaque, everything else I enjoy... Considering the whiney outcry and them adding a "normal" Driving Effect last update, this stylism might be removed in the next game entirely :/

congratulations on the 200k!!!!!!!
We need custom designed bodykits like Underground 1 and Underground 2 introduced, heck even porting them would make the customization much better also the spoilers, roof scoops, hood scoops, the vinyls, the whole customization and dialed up to 11
For some vehicles, it could work, namely with MW05/Carbon's exotics where there weren't that many options for them IRL. UG2 had a lot of parts, but most of them looked terrible compared to the ones seen in UG2.
For others, I'd rather we just get more brands like RE Amemiya, Abflug, Bomex, Do-Luck, and RMagic on board. (Yeah I'm specifically skewed towards Japanese ones because they're probably the ones more people want, or perhaps I'm speaking for myself).
@@ArbitraryOutcome you do you, I like the custom designed bodykits and spoilers from Underground 1 & 2, Most Wanted and Carbon, I don't like the branded ones cus most of the cars will look the same, yeah Armageddon and Apocalypse those look most of the time horrible but we need more custom designed bodykits by the devs all the bumpers, fenders and side skirts should be interchangeable between them, now that would be a in-depth customization, also I despise the customization in the newer nfs titles and I love the drag racing from Underground 1 (especially with rx7)
@@realspeedghxst I like fictional kits if they don't look like dogshit (UG1 and Carbon did this well).
@@ArbitraryOutcome to each their own, those who don't know to customize sounds like a Major Skill Issue to me
@@realspeedghxst Sounds more like you're just white knighting ugly parts that few would use unironically tbh.
Kuru as an advisor is the best thing that any racing game developer can have.
For music I would just love to just see radio stations each with different genres. And to bring NfS back into the mainstream I would love to see them collab with other games
I hope that you mentioned atmosphere. I find that I really loved the atmosphere of the older titles the most. It's why heat kinda worked and why prostreet is one of my favourites despite the many flaws that the game had, It really felt like I was at a car event with the music choices and the overall presentation. Having the menu's be a camera next to your car in a crowd really sold that idea for me.
That sounds really promising. I am excited what the future will bring!
I'm saving this video for later...
I hope it will be A WHOLE makeover: New graphics/physics engine, new gameplay concept, new ambience theme (forza/motorfest taking heavy inffluence, Prostreet?) and for once at all ONLY focusing pn true racing/franchise fans, not anymore "popular" stuff to make everyone to play it/buy it, that needs to be for a full arcade title like a new Burnout. Anyway i hope the can rescue the saga with your help and we will be on your side in every moment, because you are the reason why we still play.
That must be amazing being invited to something like that. I would feel so much proud of myself on your place. Thank you for representing our community!
Progression is my biggest complaint for most of the recent racing games, like it doesn't feel satisfying when you get to the fastest cars within the first 3-4 days and then there's no insentive to continue playing with no end game content. Something that i've seen and liked in CSR2 is the constant crew championships every 2-3 months where you have to compete to get new cars and rewards, also the car tier system should be like in NfSC where certain cars are Tier1, Tier2 and Tier3 and you just have to fully max their upgrades to get the most out of a car in its specific tier unlike how you have to look up tunes for every car online for Forza Horizon. One thing to add is that if they want to bring back the engine swapping they can make it so it changes the tier for the car depending on the potential for the engine, lets say you want a Tier1 Miata to be raceable in Tier2 you would have to put an I6 engine from a BMW. Or they can just add faster versions of slower cars in higher tiers for the people that would like to keep the car's stock engine but race it in different Tiers.
To be fair. progression has always been an issue. hell you can beat Carbon in a day. Car tiers would be nice. or maybe something like class races, kinda like in Midnight Club, Sports Car or Convertible Championships, bikes, Ext. Bikes would be super cool ngl. Engine swaps would be neat. but its a rabbit hole of just making every car handle, and accelerate exactly the same. like Forza Horizons is.
Not a fan of Carbon's tier system compared to previous games where you could realistically use a single vehicle for the entire game.
Though, I personally think beating the single-player game should give the player far easier opportunities for customizing vehicles to their liking, like proper post-game only events with big cash pools to make it significantly easier to theoretically buy any vehicle just to build (I actually liked doing this with Heat).
@@chloedegurechaff1941I agree, was just pointing out how i really hope it's not like Forza where on the first day you get bombarded with like 30 cars in your garage either for free or little to no work. Class races do sound good but then you would have a majority of the people only wanting to play with Sports or Supers like in GTA Online and the rest of the classes get barely raced. Also Bikes and Superbikes sound hella fun as well but if there's no different classes they might overshadow 90% of the vehicle list. Personally for Engine swaps i would like it so they have a weight balance as well as power potention. So you don't have 1 meta engine for a lot of the cars, make it so lighter and smaller engines have less maximum potential and lets say ones with more cyllinders and cubature make the car itself heavy, so you have a decision between making your car have a better top end or better handling.
@@ArbitraryOutcomeI'm not the biggest fan of it either, i just find it more casual friendly than the system in Unbound and Forza where if you don't watch a video online you don't know which upgrades to put if you want to have a car for a specific class. Also yes beating the Campaign should be rewarding but also not completely eliminate all of the grind, hopefully they find a good middle ground so it's not too fast to get a ton of cars nor make it completely tedious where you would have to spend many hours irl to get 1 car.
@@oldbastard1761 Ah, so your idea is to streamline upgrades so people aren't screwed over because they didn't copy meta tunes from YT vids.
If the next NFS has the “Game Moments” camera, please have it be like the MW05 ones. The camera’s in Carbon suck because of the weird quick zoom in on the car and sometimes the camera zooms out too far if the cops are taking jumps with you and we don’t talk about Undercover.
I'm starting to have hope in NFS again, now I really hope they don't mess this up
I definitely want some more car options like Plymouth Pontiac and Saturn Oldsmobile all different ones that have been discontinued but still I'd love to see those old cars in new games basically more variety options
This is a really exciting development. Of all people out there, I would really trust Kuru the most to know the best things to say to a developer. Even outside of Need for Speed, games like blur and the other greats...there's a lot of overlap between us. I look forward to hearing what comes next
Imma be real it's never gonna happen but I just want another Underground-type game with either no cop presence or easy cops cuz I'm really just there for the night street racing vibe lmao
TUFU might give you a somewhat fresh experience when it comes out
I think just having the option to turn off cops entirely would be the best choice but I've never seen a game that does something like that. Imagine being able to turn off the cops in a GTA game, basically turning off one of the major features of the game. Still, one can dream.
That was literally NFS 2015
i like cops , but nfs most wanted type of cops, you know that have an actual purpose in the game progression
, not like carbon, where they are just an annoyance and you can pass the entire game without needing to do a single pursuit, i like underground 1/2 because it's more about the tuner scene , more focused on the tight races and ricing the f outta cars, so if they add police they better make em just like mw, and add some spice to them ,that's it
oh and handling , remove brake-to-drift for good
@@fizzisoda7113 NFS 2015 THEORETICALLY had what I wanted HOWEVER:
Limited customization, not ENOUGH parts for cars either
DOGWATER handling
Crash cams
No going into the downtown area

If those things were fixed it woulda been my favorite of the "modern" NFS titles but sadly that's no simple fix lmao
Glad that you and Theo (BlackPanthaa) were able to go there and voice out your pieces regarding Need For Speed since the franchise is on the verge of going downhill.
Although we can’t be certain with the franchise’s future, I hope that through the talks and all, the developers will finally come to their understanding that the community’s voice needs to be heard, and so it has.
It’s all down to them now. I (and I imagine the community) have hope that the franchise can be capable of still being considered one of the best racing games.

Gz to 200k
I'm going to stay pessisimistic about it. Cool to see how they are reaching out though.
Just hope they get rid of the damage bar and improve on the handling would be cool if they could do something similar to underground 1 and 2 also 2005 most wanted as those are the 3 best need for speeds with the best handling. Would also be pretty cool if we could go back to 2000s era racing game music to as I discovered so many new bands and musicians who are still my favorites to listen to today. Love the need for speed series and have been playing since the 90s. Hope they can start making them better again.
they did a similar thing with the F1 games back in 2016 and 2017 and it basically did nothing much to game apart from adding their faces to the game which made it more obvius how often they re-used character modesl since their faces were just so familiar
Confiamos que Kuru traerá el lanzamiento del NFS most wanted remake y tomará el papel de Rog en el inicio. 😎
Hopefully no more health bar for the player, i prefer the mw 2005 approach of being boxed in etc
They can start by releasing a bundle composed of NFSU, NFSU2 and Most Wanted, all remastered. I'm afraid that if they didn't release those since the fame of remastered games and the free money brought with them, it's because of data lost, legal rights... I mean, I still don't understand why they don't do it, there must be a reason. I dream about playing these games on ps5 with trophies. seems like a good direction this is going. But why didn´t this happen earlier? In my studies at the university we get to hear it again and again how important stakeholder analysis are and hear what the target group wants.
Now some questions, from which side came this the developers? the management or from your side? because it´s always good to have the management behind you especially because they are making the financial decisions at the end.
How was the constellation on the meet up? was it an complete package with persons from all areas of development or where they limited with only game physics or graphics or sounddesign or whatever? also here again maybe also someone who makes decisions at the end. could help, because firstly you could put them honey around the mouth how great this will be if this and that happens and also they get more involved with the whole process and seeing that this gets a passionate treatment from the inside and outside might affect the view a bit. and you could also discuss again the priorities like mentioned and try to do such decisions early. that the most important things get all the needed resources from the getgo.
We need Pro street 2
Prostreet with some elements of Race Driver Grid (team management aspect, hiring and firing teammates, handling model, different categories of motorsports like Formula Drift, Rallycross etc).
@@CyanRooper i think motorsports categories are over the top for a nfs game but i like the idea, just not in nfs, i feel like the old pro street "make your car and go to an event" vibe would be better
Pro Street is great but I don't think something like that could ever come out of the NFS franchise again when considering modern game standards
@@Zippy_Zolton that just not true, we have forza horizon, the crew, carx drift for example and those are "new" games
@@Zippy_Zolton Blackbox (the developers behind all of the 2000s NFS games like Underground, Prostreet etc) initially wanted the Need for Speed series to have an Underground style game one year and a Hot Pursuit style game another year similar to what Forza used to do with Horizon and Motorsports back during the early 2010s (I mean they still do but the gaps between releases are longer now).
I think in an ideal world that is what the Need for Speed series should do: hire different developers to make different styles of Need for Speed games for different groups of racing game fans. I think EA should have one studio make a 90s era inspired Need for Speed with some elements of Driveclub/Project Gotham Racing/Test Drive Unlimited called Need for Speed Classic for fans of the Hot Pursuit/High Stakes/Rivals fans and another studio to make a sequel to Prostreet with elements of Race Driver Grid mixed in for the simcade audience and another studio for the Most Wanted/Carbon audience.
Obviously EA would never spend the money to fund something like that but it's fun to think about.
honestly the biggest thing i want is a change to the handling model. i don't think tap to drift of that sort is bad but my god do i miss the blackbox era of handling. cars felt very weighty, tuning in pro street for example made setting up suspension pretty useful, and taking racing lines just felt more natural. nowadays i notice that understeer seems to be a big problem in heat and unbound especially, and some cars are worse than others with little way to alleviate it.
I want to be able to increase the rpm of upgraded engines (10000rpm civic) in nfs and i want to be able to see the engine upgrades, also want cars like the the 2002-2006 celica 1zz-2zz and vr6 golfs and similar cars.
Kuru one of my favorite athletes!!! 🎮
I'm living in the good timeline
Did you guys tell them to try to pitch some classic nfs remakes?
Like Underground or Mw?
I just want a new Burnout😢
I want a new Burnout too but Burnout to be Burnout and Nfs to be Nfs.
same
Yeah. I want a new burnout instead of a new nfs. In my opinion, they have butchered nfs FOR WAY TOO LONG and I just feel like it needs to be put on hold
Its great that they allowed some real world feedback and the points shut be on their whiteboard at all times. However there are so many moving parts to a new game and I believe in a good next NfS when I see it, the management and shareholders like to mess things up. Stuff like always online even for single player will be hard to " correct" in future titles. Atleast you can say that you gave your suggestions, now its on them how tgood they deal with it. Keep giving feedback, do some actual playtesting where obvious stuff gets flagged and corrected.
Honestly I liked shift for the drama in the cars, speed, everything
If they did good on how shift plays I would grab that
If Kuru's optimistic then I'm bit excited for next NFS
I still regret getting unbound to. This day i hope the new is better
9:00 and booting unbound makes me want to throw my headphones away
Imagine if they had been this open for the fan feedback like 10 years ago...
It should be a new norm in gaming, every big developer should do this atleast once
I'm still bummed that people were quick to dunk on Unbound's art style. I thought it was great design choice, messing around with different color combos and matching the car was very fun. It may be a bit too much to keep in a main installment but I would love to see a spin-off that goes all in with the stylized effects.
True even where we hated the game we used to love doesn’t mean we can get updates what happens to it because at the end its our childhood’s games
