I wish I’d given Baby Pac-Man more of a chance when it was still in arcades. As much as I love pinball now, it was totally lost on me prior to 10 years of age. I’d also never seen a dedicated Jr Pac-Man cabinet. Every time I played it, it was in a converted Super Pac-Man cabinet with stickers covering “super” with “Jr Pac-Man.”

Nick Falkner I saw Baby Pac-Man one time at a local arcade and am happy now that I played it back then. I have seen only one dedicated Jr. Pac-Man at a laundromat in the town where I grew up. These days the laundromat is a pharmacy.

"Stop talkin and start chalkin" I remember hearing that eightball pinball machine saying that phrase in an arcade that also happen to have baby Pac-Man as well when I was a kid. Haven't seen either of those since 89. I was actually telling someone about the baby Pac-Man pinball game about a month and had no idea how it worked since I have never played it.

I have a Baby Pac, it took quite a bit to get it working again after I bought it. You were NOT kidding about the ghost AI being BRUTALLY hard. My Pinball Friends flock to it - but don't end up liking it because the arcade part is too hard. My arcade friends don't like it because the arcade part is hard and because 'ewe pinball'. LOL

In reality, it appears Namco just stole the idea from Tomy, and Tomy for some reason didn't sue them.
The toy company Tomy had a line of "Pac-Man" coin banks that predates Namco's video game by several years. Later, Tomy made a spin-off board game based on these banks called "Pac-Man Game". This game was released in America under the name "Mr. Mouth" in the 1970s. (Commercial for Mr. Mouth: th-cam.com/video/yS8mntd8fwo/w-d-xo.html)
As a kid in the 80's, not knowing any of this, I always wondered why the Pac-Man bank I had looked exactly like Mr. Mouth. Decades later, it all makes sense.

We had one in our Aladdin’s Castle for a very short time. I played it several times before they pulled it - I only ever saw it played once by someone besides me. It frustrated me due to the higher difficulty level over the original, so I would never spend more than one or two tokens on it per trip. I was kind of bummed when the game disappeared from Aladdin’s and I remember looking all over town to find one again. I don’t know why it fascinated me so much, especially since I sucked so bad at it, I guess it was just the constant Pac-Man hype that was in the air during that short but intense period of time.

ive played this thing in person at Galloping Ghost Arcade and I can say for sure that having to earn the power pellets heavily unballances the game, if everything there wasn't on free play I would have felt ripped off to lose at Pacman in under a minute, it also doesn't help that the ghost get started right away leaving you a moment having to scramble to the joystick to control the video game portion.

They have one of these at our local nickel arcade. We always try to play it because it is so unique. It is a lot of fun, but it is way too hard. The ghosts can change directions on you, and there are not many escape routes. It is very difficult to complete mazes without power pellets. Unfortunately, getting power pellets in the pinball game is also too difficult. The problem is that when you hit the targets to spell out PACMAN, the ball will often rebound right down the middle of the playfield and right between the flippers. Then you are back on the video game without enough power pellets to complete it. It looks like the MAME version has better rebounding logic for the targets. That version could be more fun.

I never knew this game existed. What a great idea, a shame more arcade/pinball hybrid machines weren't made.

Back in the early 90s, the first school I went to had a small arcade, and they had one of these machines. The game was hard for five year old me, but it left me wanting more. I was wondering why Bandai Namco never ported the game to any of the dual screen handhelds, or even the Wii U, but then again, they probably wouldn't want to touch this one with a ten foot pole.

I saw one once and only once a very long time ago at a mall down in Orlando. I wasn't very good at it, but thought it was a neat idea. Too bad they couldn't make any home video game ports of it.
