    I ordered this monopod last week and it came in yesterday. It's awesome! Thanks for the video .This is about the 6th video I've watched on this model and none of the other videos actually show the thing in action.

    After watching this/your video, I went on the web to B&H Photo and ordered the Sirui L-20S. It is to be delivered tomorrow 5/13/2020. I already had the Sirui P-204S. Thank you for a great video, Jim, Charlotte, NC.

    Excellent review of the monopod and I appreciate that you added in the review of the L-20S head. Your video helped me finalize my decision to purchase this combo.

    Hi. Very good review.
    I have a question:
    Is it possible to use the L-20S-2 ball joint mounted on a tripod as if it were a gimbal ball?

  • @editor0range
    @editor0range 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    very nice video! could you please tell me though, how long the monopod still is, when the table tripod legs on the bottom and the fluid head are removed? I want to fit the whole thing into my backpack, so every inch counts!

    • @cecilsphotos
      @cecilsphotos  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +editor0range The folded length is about 27" without the head. The bottom legs fold upwards so they don't really add any extra length when they are folded up. Removing them all together might save you a couple of inches.

    • @editor0range
      @editor0range 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Cecil Holmes Could you detach the legs for me and meassure the monopod? Cause I can´t find it anywhere on the web, how long just the monopod is. It should fit inside a Lowepro Trekker 400 AW.

    • @cecilsphotos
      @cecilsphotos  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +editor0range MIne is right at 21" without the bottom 'tripod' adapter legs without the head.

      +Cecil Holmes Thanks for checking! and damn it, it won´t fit inside the backpack. That means, I would have to go for the more expensive 326S, which sucks. Well, it´s all about the airline I guess. Did you ever try to take this monopod with you as hand luggage?

    Thank you for this very informative review Cecil! First I ordered the monopod to make sure I liked it, then I ordered the same head a few days later. What an amazing combo for photographing birds! I went with the tilt and pan Sirui L 20 S so that I could use it on another tripod if I wanted, and have the panning feature. Also, it just seems easier to have everything adjustable on top of the tripod, rather than dealing with the other features on the monopod it's self. Thanks again for making my decision easier! (The price on the L 20 head was only $10 more than the L 10)

    I watched a few reviews of the monopod, and it's exactly what I want... I didn't know the pan head existed. I'll have to get one, too! Thanks for showing it.

    I bought a Sirui L Series L-20S head, partially based in this review.
    The description on Amazon says "Both models feature and Arca-style quick release plate, making them compatible with a wide range of plates and easy to integrate into your system. "
    It is not compatible with a 60mm, or smaller, Arca Swiss plate or my Arca Swiss L bracket.
    The description is clearly false. They should have a disclaimer indicating that it is not Arca Swiss compatible.
    All they needed to do was machine an Arca Swiss compatible grooves into the plate.
    I managed to make it usable by attaching an Arca Swiss clamp to their plate.

      Hi,
      Could you please confirm the width of your L-bracket for me? Mine is a standard 38mm wide L-bracket and I've read elsewhere that this will be fine on the Sirui L-20s head. Just wanted to confirm before buying as your comment is the first I've read which mentions issues with L-bracket compatibility. Thanks in advance.

    • @jacdale
      @jacdale 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@samstone91 The width is not the issue, it is the length. The vertical part of the L bracket is 50mm. The safety pins on the L bracket prevent the Sirui head from seating properly. Sirui heads do not accommodate Arca Swiss safety pins.

    Hey Cecil great video, I have the Sirui P-424S and A Promaster GH10 Gimbal Head. I will be looking at Sirui Aluminium Tilt Head L-20S wonder how it stacks against a Gimbal Head like a Induro or Promaster, when used with a Telephoto Zoom lens like the Sigma 150-600mm Sport - Looks like the L-20S could replace the need for a Gimbal Head.

    • @cecilsphotos
      @cecilsphotos  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mí Acosta You honestly do not need the L-20S Head. Since you already have the P-424S Monopod you would be better off with the L-10 Monopod Head. The main advantage of the L-20S over the L-10 is that it swivels, since your tripod already has the swivel feature it might be overkill. I use the L-10 and P-324S combo with the Tamron 150-600 all the time with no issues.

    Cecil, that was an excellent and informative review of the Sirui P-204S and the L-20S pan/tilt head!! I M interested in purchasing both of them. I wasn't sure whether to get the L-10 or the L-20S head? I've been reading that the L10 works fine on long telephoto lenses with a with tripod collar, but if you are going to mount the head to a camera body, than you are better off with the L20S. Is this fiction or is it a real concern? Thanks!!!

    • @cecilsphotos
      @cecilsphotos  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ian Platt If you get the P-204S monopod you do not need the L-20S head. The monopod swivels already, so the added advantage of the L-20S over the L-10 is that it swivels. In my opinion you do not need a swiveling head if you already have a swiveling monopod.

    • @ianplatt6635
      @ianplatt6635 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cecil, will the L10 head work if you use another lens without a tripod collar, in portrait mode? Would it allow you to do a proper tilt up and down or will the tilt be only right to left. I am not sure and confused because I haven't been to a photo store yet to play and visualize what the L10 is capable of doing.

    • @cecilsphotos
      @cecilsphotos  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ian Platt The L-10 is simply a tilt head that has an arca swiss compatible mount. So any camera/lens with an acra swiss style plate will work. If you want to use the L-10 in portrait mode you would need an l-plate on your camera, or a lens collar that rotates. The L-10 simply tilts up and down. The monopod handles the panning left and right part. Hope that helps!
