I totally agree. I've had mine for about a year now and it is a total game changer. I shoot a lot of high end stuff often with two cameras with my dslr as my second camera. Absolutely functional. And it allows nice movement that can simulate steady cam shots. And for the price, its a no brainer. Get it. Period!
I bought this monopod last week over Amazon and took it out for an evening casual shoot yesterday. Everything was great about this monopod until it refused the center collapsible column just refused to close. I tried whatever I could, but it just refused. I just placed an order for a return/replacement over Amazon. After my first experience with this product, I'm not too confident if I would use it on some important shoots.
That's too bad, I haven't had any issues with mine and still use it all the time. There is potential to over-tighten the column is possible so be careful with that.
It would have been great to see some test footage shot with the monopod :/ How is the stability compared to its competitors, I've always kind of avoided monopods because they didn't give me perfect sability during my shots, is this one (with its larger feet) any different ? Is it really stable and allow you to get as stable as a tripod ?
Charles S. all of my most recent videos have this monopod being used. I didn't see the purpose of including sample footage, as it is subjective to the individual using the monopod. I can tell you, this this is extremely stable and it allows for tripod like shots in on the go shooting.
I am a lucky owner of the P-204SR model :) I work mainly with a Sony PXW-Z280 video camera plus accessories and due to the fact that I travel a lot, the possibility of distributing the monopod and practically putting it in the hand luggage is invaluable. The quality is excellent and additional advantage is the weight of 1.3kg ... just great! I heartily recommend.
+Tomas Villegas Any opinions with a similar size camera such as the URSA MINI 4.6k. I do use this camera and ordered a Sirui already but I never saw a review with a larger camera mounted on it, just DSLRs. The manufacturer mentions the monopod can support up to 7kgs.
so i got excited and accidentally tightened the mounting screw into the top into the monopod without the adapter plate and now the screw is stuck. Any ideas on how i can get it out? please help
I just bought this, I was simply looking for a stand to use with my single handed gimbal (Zhiyun Crane) and here I am spending a bit more money and ending up with a Monopod I didn't originally want but this thing looks great, I got it mainly for the base but I bet I'll end up using the whole package as a tripod replacement when I don't want to lug that thing around. Nice review, seeing you take apart the base and showing it's locked position plus the fact that it can be switched to 1/4 screw totally sold me on it -- I wanted to get a Manfrotto to match everything else I have but that was the ticket.
"You did an EXCELLENT job on this video by explaining, in great detail, the versatility and build quality of this product, and It's one of the many reasons that I have considered this monopod as a purchase. Again, great job and thank You".
I just received mine yesterday and could not figure a few things out. The instructions are microscopically small and tell you very little. This video was GREAT and cleared everything up right away. Professionally done, this video should accompany the product which exceeded all of my expectations! Go Sirui! And thank you for the excellent video!
I would like to know the max height with the three little legs opened and the fluid head VH10 attached and the minimum height with no head and the lower part of the monopod detached. Thanks a lot!
Great video dude! Amazing looking monopod. I use monopods more than anything and I hate the Manfrotto one. Can't believe so many people have it when things like this and the Benro's are available.
I will definitely be picking one of these up at some point this year. I think this would be perfect to drag along to CES. I'll make sure to use you affiliate link when I do pick one up. Thanks for the video.
Well articulated Video giving complete details of the SIRUI P-204s. have been studying various monopods and after seeing your video am just going ahead getting one
Great video: I find using monopod with 5” monitor on top of camera standing back far enough to see image on screen very hard to hold stand. If I put camera up to my eye it’s very steady. Is there a way to hold monopod steady with it back far enough to see image on monitor? I am using a video head on top of monopod.. I need help. Thanks in advance. Bob
I hope you or someone else would help me figure out something about this monopod. Although I have a tripod (Genesis C5) and monopod (Velbon Sherpa Pro pod8), I am saving to buy both a steadycam (Genesis SteadyCam Pro Carbon) and one of the bigger Sirui P-___s. Perhaps I would just need the Sirui, it depends............ 1. Can you check where the center of gravity is along the pod if balancing it in collapsed mode? 2. Can you do the same with your biggest camera attached (pehaps a video head as well) (above a soft bed or something)? 3. Only help me with the next one if you feel it's risk free. Is there a way to part the pod in two near the center of gravity, hopefully at the top blue collar (where the handle above is designed to pan)?
Can somebody help me out with this? i've had this thing for a while but i just find it far to shaky for video, even when completely still, racking focus I get shake with it, panning is a no go (siriu fluid head)... I really want to like this monopod.. what's the deal? am i missing something?
Good review, I'm looking for a solution to get hand-held high shots. I'm assuming yes, but can you confirm that I can use the dual screw adapter to attach to the bottom of the P204S, then screw in a light camera, and fully extend the monopod? Thanks.
The Worlds Best? .... I also have every confidence in keeping the camera and lens still attached while moving to another area of the field, something I've found a bit nervy with cheaper built mono pods. The fact that it has those feet to is great, as long as there's no wind or anyone to bump into it's perfectly fine to have a break without leaning it against you or a wall etc When I bought mine in July 2020 it was £145 from Amazon now it is £139 so steady price and what a buy. Thanks for uploading because I wasnt aware that the feet would not sit properly with the centre spike or bung attached. Cheers Quinny
nice video overall... only came up short because you didn't actually attach any equipment to the head so we can see how it handles weight on it's head...namely how stable it will be when equipment is on it. (as an aside, this product is from china, so the pronunciation will be "si - rui" versus 'su-ray") thanks for posting. i'll go check it out at B&H :)
+mikewinburn I show it with a Manfrotto 502 fluid head, it is a monopod meaning you shouldn't count on this as a full blown tripod replacement. Keep is light. As far as how to pronounce the manufacture's name, you're wrong it's pronounced "Sue-Ray."
thanks, Tomas! looking to use it with a film camera...we all know camera slap on these adds enough vibration on its own, so, saw this product and thought it might work to be "hands off" the monopod w/ cable release. In this way i'm standing right next to it. But, if not stable enough to be "hands off" w equipment on it even at arms length, then i'm better off with an inexpensive tripod. Hence, trying to find a video w someone actually using it with equipment on it. :) Dont get me wrong, this video was superb, partner. Getting a bit curious. I've heard multiple americans pronounce this "Sue Ray" when it's spelled "Si-Ru-i". Is this something that just spread from reviewer to reviewer or do the chinese somehow pronounce their name really funky?
Hi: Do you know if Sirui VA-5 Ultra-Compact Video Head is a good choice for the Monopod to add the smooth panning and tension adjustment if this head has that?
Manjunath G after using this monopod I say no. Sirui is my go to manufacture. I've used the Benro monopod and it doesn't come close to the Sirui. I recommend the P-204S over any monopod on the market.
Hey Tomas, thanks for the helpful vid. I just got one myself and Im loving how sturdy and portable it is. Ive watched you're more recent video and I know you've paired it with a matching Sirui fluid head. I was wondering how you liked the old setup (in this video) of the P-204S & the Manfrotto 502 HD Pro. Did you find it uneven or unbalanced? Since I already have some 055PROBX Stix I thought Id get the Manfrotto head and share it between tripod and monopod. But if you think I should get something smaller for the monopod, let me know.
+Kaizen2013v in my opinion the 502 is a bit too big for the P204S, if possible I'd go for the Sirui fluid head if I were only using it on the monopod. Since you're going share the head between a tripod, I'd go with the 502. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
Hi thanks - 2 questions - what size does it breakdown to and I notice from one of your other videos that you have the Sirui fluid head, do you prefer that to the manfrotto one.
Posted a new video today! Check out the world's best #monopod by #Sirui : The #SiruiP204S is a fine piece of engineering! If you make videos, it's a must have.
Hi Tomas, I just saw a new version of this monopod but with flip lock and different feet (looks like a mogopod feet) in the website en.zssirui.com (maybe chinese/asian) not available anywhere else yet.. the model is EP-204S and EP-224S, I believe they have the same price as the twist lock model, I always thought flip lock is better because it's quicker just flip on and off, I wonder which one is better.. what do you prefer? Do you think I should wait until it's available?
I think that flip lock is faster than twist lock, it's the only thing holding me back from buying this monopod which do you prefer? but the new flip lock version have different feet, I wonder why... maybe for standing in an uneven terrain..
I was waiting for this video from you, and then ended up accidentally skipping it. I liked you explanation and details, I'm 110% positive I'll end up buying this in the future but just don't have the budget for it currently. Anyways keep up the good videos, I recommend maybe background music not sure if your into that. Oh yeah quick question, how long have you been making TH-cam videos?
You should check out the iFootage Cobra 2 Strike. Better than this in every aspect except for the the beveled screw lock to keep the monopod straight up and down. And yes you sound like Kevin Costner HAHA
+Albert Arriola the carbon fiber is only like 0.3 oz less so save the money and go aluminium. I'm currently using the BeFree fluid head from Manfrotto on it.
Sirui is not pronounced "sue ray". I had Siri pronounce it for me and she said Sirui this way "See ru ee" Who knows. You might be right. Could be from a different country's way of saying it
George Torres sorry man, the company cleared this up before I did this video. "Sue-ray" is what they told me: twitter.com/SIRUI_USA/status/592682566806872064
@@TomasVillegas I just pronounced the English letters, that did differs thats y I told you, it's ok, I think I can pronounce Apple as 'App' 'ill' if Apple Inc says.
its not the best, I bought same monopod bottom leg won't extend called customer service they said they only talk with there dealers no help what so ever. Looks elsewhere for a monopod.
Great video Tomas! Out of all of the monopods I've seen, this one just looks to be the most solid and customizable.

How about using it for timelapse shooting, leaving it unattended with camera in open and normal wind. Stable enough or will there be shakes?
That's tough to sell for that use. I would recommend a light tripod for timelapse shooting.

A great video & review!😀👍 Well done.
Thanks for watching 👍
Fantastic review.
Thank you!
Thanks for posting the review very good review ... Is it sturdy enough to accommodate a monitor with a DSLR ?
+T Black yes it is, but I wouldn't recommend it. This monopod is really strong.
The correct pronunciation is See Roo E not Soo Ray
Sorry you're wrong. I verified the pronunciation with the manufacture before making this video.
Thanks: ordered.
I still use this monopod to this day. You'll love it.
great review. thank you sir
Thanks for the comment!
Good review, Thanks.
Nice review, thank you.
Roel Mata throw on some headphones, there is some background music ;)
Thanks for the awesome comment, been doing this for about 2 years.
Tomas Villegas lol now I can hear it
does this monopod fits on sony fdr ax53?
Yes.
thank you!!
You should check out the iFootage Cobra 2 Strike. Better than this in every aspect except for the the beveled screw lock to keep the monopod straight up and down. And yes you sound like Kevin Costner HAHA
hey bro any tripod you recommend?
Yeah bro, all the stuff I use in my work is listed on my website: www.tomasvillegas.com/gear
I stand by all the stuff listed there and recommend it.
Tomas Villegas thanks!
All day long?
All day!
Is it Kevin Costner narrating!?! 🙏
😉
finally I got a monopod Benro S4
+Jarhead6 return that crap and get this one. You'll thank me later :D
Tomas Villegas lol got you!
2 questions
1. Do you recommend the aluminum or carbon fiber for wedding work using the GH5?
2. What fluid head are you using?
+Albert Arriola the carbon fiber is only like 0.3 oz less so save the money and go aluminium. I'm currently using the BeFree fluid head from Manfrotto on it.
You sound like Kevin Costner lol, cool review btw.. getting this badboy for sure! Thanks!
Omg, he sure does!
Ok I'm getting one
How did you add all those changing colors in the intro? What is that effect called?

si-ru-i!
Make sure you pronounce the product name correctly. It's see-roo-wee not soo-rei. FYI
Sorry the way it's pronounced in the video is correct way.
Sirui is not pronounced "sue ray". I had Siri pronounce it for me and she said Sirui this way "See ru ee"
Who knows. You might be right. Could be from a different country's way of saying it
George Torres sorry man, the company cleared this up before I did this video. "Sue-ray" is what they told me: twitter.com/SIRUI_USA/status/592682566806872064
Sweet
I agree with you !
You should hear how Siri pronounces half the names in my contacts
I agree👍
its not SU RE, its SI RUI (C RUI)
Anush prounced per what the manufacturer told me.
Cool.....
What's cooking Gilbert Grapes, hehehe
En version Française ce serait mieux !
mais non
Name is pronounced See-Roux-Ee
SOO-REY = SEE-ROO-EEE
Takes the place of a tripod?? That is impossible. Your credibility suffers when you make statements like that.
How? It's an effective monopod.
SIRUI is pronounced SHEE-ROY.
