My husband had colon cancer, here in the U.S., in 1994. The Duke University oncologist gave him a 20% chance of living a year, but somehow, he lived to age 81, dying of age-related causes in 2022. It helped that he was overweight, because losing 60 pounds was not the disaster it would be in a smaller person. He did have long-lasting effects from chemo, but those eventually went away. The feeling I get is when odds are quoted they comes the numbers from the general population who typically follow the traditional route that is not personalised to each individual which lowers the chances of recovery and a longer life. So for anyone who wants to do a more individual approach or are more proactive the "odds" are and can be very different! Hence why there are so many miracle stories of Stage IV who have been in remission for decades.
Thank you for sharing this and offering some hope. I have terminal colon cancer also and I've actually been doing really well with the immunotherapy from a study at Duke. Here's hoping I might also live a longer life! They thought I'd have a few months only and I'm at 6 months now.

His work forms part of the foundation stones that Dr. Nasha Winters developed (with others) which takes a more comprehensive and metabolic approach to cancer approach, treatment and healing. It was so nice to see his name pop up as a recommendation 😁
I can hardly believe they would even consider palliative care without further addressing the new cancer first. Don't think I much like that particular health care decision.

Thanks Dawn, I'm taking a holistic approach this time round and I know the clinic I work with does a parasite cleanse as part of some personalised and individualised treatments based on each person's who assessment. I have some big priorities for me based on my own assessment but it's on my list to follow their cleanse later in the year once some of the more impact problems for me have been fixed. Will share later in the year how that's going and a bit more about it if that's helpful. Thank you!
My mom had her stoma reversed after 9 months, her cancer came back after that she live less then a year. I think of she left it alone she would have survived longer.

I'm working with a functional medicine team who take a really wide approach so I'll ask about it and see if it's a good fit for my cancer type, DNA mix and whether it can compliment my holistic treatment and healing plan.
