I lost my shit when Rude sabotaged Reno from shooting Tifa. They kept his crush on her from the original, I'm so happy.
That's not all, when Rude is fighting Cloud and Aerith, he only trips her, while he actually goes all out on Cloud.
@@herofromthedark right! Or puts her to sleep. I absolutely love how they handled him in this iteration, the attention to small details makes me crave for more. I'm hoping we'll get to see more sides to Tseng and Elena as well. (I'll be all shades of happy if we can get bits of Veld and Cissnei, too)

@@herofromthedark Well he wasn't technically allowed to hurt Aerith so that's not necessarily him being kind or liking her.
SapphireShield The creators of the game said they made it so he doesn’t harm women. It stems from the original and him not attacking Tifa. They decided it should be all female characters (although there’s only two so it may not apply later with others) and that he would use disabling moves instead of really fighting them.

They are neutral characters.
This made it believable the Reno is second in command of the turks, you can even see it when he talks to Rude, compared to how they were in advent children. among other things. but they definetely changed him from a joke to a threat.
I know! That was one of the things that really bothered me about Reno in Advent Children, he was just comic relief even though in the OG game he just had a lot of sass. I'm so happy they kept him closer to his true identity in the remake.
Reno's personality in AC is a complete U-turn of his original personality in FF7. That's just bad writing. Glad he's back to himself in the Remake.

I was disappointed at first but I feel like this new English VA suits Reno more, now that I’ve played the game through. It would have been weird hearing Axel say bitch and asshole anyway.

When I first heard the trailer with the new English VA in it, I was a little disappointed that they didn't bring Quinton Flynn back, but this new guy really grew on me and he sounds great! I love how he brings Reno to life. My biggest exposure to Reno was in Advent Children (where he and Rude were absolute jokes) and Quinton suited THAT version of Reno perfectly imo. FF7R Reno is much more serious and threatening, so the new VA is an excellent choice. He had big shoes to fill.
And Guess what, He plays the idiot Kazuma from Konosuba.
Given what happened with Flynn, be glad he didn't come back.
Read the novel's and also Reno in Crisis core. He was a really dark character in the book and highly skill there was a reason he was the Turks 2nd in command and highly ranked even under Vled

His unbuttoned shirt and jacket started as a way of showing how lazy and careless/laid back he could be, now have turned into a tailor made, form fitting ensemble because pretty boy has become a top model. Wouldn't Reno recognize Cloud because Tseng sent him out to look for Cloud and Zack in the desert during Crisis Core? Reno would at least have seen his picture or at least heard of Cloud due to the Hojo experimentation.
Maybe they were just told to look for Zack and a foot soldier, there may not have been a need for pictures because Zack’s recognisable as is both their uniforms. Besides, it’s the desert, there’s hardly going to be anyone else there.

I love that the Turks and Cloud's party don't even seem to hate each other. Like when Cloud and Aerith paused to let Rude take his phone call. Reno does seem to have a bit of a grudge on Cloud, but it doesn't really seem like genuine hatred.
