I never even noticed they kept holding hands when Cloud had a panic attack and Aerith was comforting him. She managed to change Cloud so much by bringing out his soft side. And for him to be dreaming about his mom talking about the right girl for him while he was at Aerith’s house...it seems that Cloud x Aerith is the truth.
@@Radagon543 FF7 OG is There for clerith too, and if case of lifestream white is canon (which it is) then Zack x Aerith in Advent children isn't because COLW is a prequel to AC and it mentions Aerith as Cloud's lover, and Dirge of Cerberus which happens few years after AC only stated Tifa as Cloud's childhood friend, therefore Cloud x Tifa isnt canon in AC either. Besides Aerith moved on to Cloud, that is already obvious in the OG and stated by SE *a lot* of times.
Ya its a really good game dont think because there r so many with the same title but numbers they r not all the same game in a timeline btw, each game is diff story diff characters diff universe as well.
With aerith, cloud get to explore himself more. Her warmth and supportive manner just help him to open up, to be more of a reliable figure people just expect him to be. With cloud, aerith drops a little bit of her pretentious tendency to being optimistic and carefree all the time and actually shows her inner worry and fear. Together they are so natural without having to bother what others think of them. Many ppl don't see they are a good fit cause of their contrast behaviour, but It's okay, cause it's love.
What you said reminds me of tidus and yuna's relationship. Someone said "with yuna, tidus became more grounded and accepting of reality and with tidus questioning about Yevon in every way possible, yuna broadens her horizon and realized the dark side of what shes been believing in her whole life." He also said that people in the company argued for a very long time whether to add this line or not , some developers believed that people could perceive these words as if Aerith looked down on the Cloud, but in the end everyone came to the conclusion that this line would lead to very big emotions of people who are familiar with the original, so these words are still present in the game

I'm glad they decided to keep this line in there because it had a huge impact on me (also felt like it was the final piece of the puzzle for me on deciding that Aerith knew the goings on of OG). Can't believe they thought it could be interpreted as her looking down on Cloud, her facial expression and the tone of her voice (especially in Japanese because that's the one I always opt for) say the complete opposite, but that's my perspective I suppose.

I think Aerith really caught Cloud off guard. He had his walls built so high up - even towards someone like Tifa, who was a very dear childhood friend of his. In the beginning of the game you spend a lot of time together with Tifa as Cloud, and it just feels distant... like even in Seventh Heaven, they didn't sit directly next to each other, leaving a stool between them. That to me tells a lot about their relationship. Obviously Tifa means a lot to Cloud and he cares very much about her. But Aerith is different. He had a change of heart after meeting her and spending time with her, caring less about being a mercenary and looking out only for himself. He started to truly care about the wellbeing of others, and opened up a lot more. I always felt like Cloud showed much more emotion around Aerith compared to Tifa, who he seemed reluctant to open up to (maybe because they have so much history to their relationship). But for Cloud, Aerith is a fresh start. I love the childhood friends to lovers trope as much as anyone, but sometimes people need to let go of the past. I think that's true for Cloud. He and Aerith had so many sweet moments together in the game (thank you OP for compiling them into one awesome video :D), and to me it's pretty obvious they are both into each other... no disrespect to anyone who likes Cloud/Tifa though, as I could see that being a healthy ship too. But Cloud/Aerith is so romantic and the best choice for me.
Cloud and Tifa were never close friends , she never paid much attention to him because she was the queen of the village . Cloud mixed up memories because of the Jenova cells , and in the very first chapter he has a memory where Tifa calls him and he ignores her , but of course it was he who called her and she ignored him .So who are ship Cloud and Tifa, because they are childhood friends, then these people are strange. In fact , the real thing was the memory at the mill when he called her to say that he wanted to become a soldier . He was surprised that she came at all , and in the end , to prove to himself and her , he went to shinra , couldnt become a soldier , because he was weak . As a result , he became an experiment , Jenova mixed up his memories, Cloud created the illusory world of a tough soldier for his protection, his memory took Zack 's story as the basis , so he appropriated his actions . As a result, all his suffering is due to the fact that Tifa could not become a real friend for him. If she had noticed his loneliness , then everything would have been fine with Cloud . Now he doesn 't even know how to high - five people . And its Aerith who is his salvation and a ray of light . Its she who changes him, shows him that he is important to her. This is what Cloud needs. And it is absolutely logical that Cloud falls in love with her
@@НикитаСимонян-ж5е Although I prefer Cloud/Aeris, obviously, you shouldn't blame Tifa for the terrible things that happened to Cloud. He had his own reasons for trying to prove himself by becoming a hero and joining Shinra. He was an awkward, weak outcast in the village, who seemed to frequently get in trouble. Tifa also had a lot of problems, and in a way felt trapped and needing a hero, which is why she made him promise he'd be her hero if he became one. There definitely wasn't a childhood romance there, and people blow it way out of proportion to push the idea that they've been in love since childhood, but Tifa isn't a villain either. They were two struggling kids who became two adults with serious issues. Their primary conflict as a couple is that Tifa doesn't understand him and superimposes an image of Cloud that isn't real on top of him - which feeds into his delusions and false memories until it ultimately causes a complete identity collapse. As has been stated, she continues to not understand him even going into Advent Children, but she's not actively harming his mental state at that point.
Finally, someone who doesn’t turn shipping into arguing about liking or hating Tifa or Aerith. I’m a Clerith shipper, HEAVILY, but Tifa still has my heart in a way. She means well and she’s awesome just like Aerith. She may not be my favorite female character but I’ve loved her since I first saw her. I respect Cloti too ofc, they’re really cute too. ❤️
tbh between tifa and aerith. Tifa was so distant from him for his first 15 years that between cloud falling from the mako reactor to getting picked by don corneo. He had already spent more time 1 on 1 with aerith than 15 years with tifa. All cloud wanted his entire life was some one to want him around. And it really shows.
She's a Cetra. She's the steward of the planet. Cloud is one of the products of the Planet. So it's pretty easy for her to know how to look after him, like mother to son. At least, Cloud found the girl his mom hoped for.

She also resent the idea that he was not to her rescue when their town was razed by Sephiroth. She's been through too much loss. She's completely closed herself up. And she had reasons to do so. Moreover, Tifa is very soft in the inside but trying to act tough on the outside. Aerith, on the other hand, has just met Cloud. It was like a lonesome explorer just discovered a new land after years of wandering. She has no torn past in common with Cloud. Moreover, she's sentenced to certain death. All she wants is to spend the rest of her days in the best way possible. But as soon as Tifa and Cloud solve their torn past and get to the common ground, she'd become his best ally. Especially, Aerith will no longer be there anymore.
The interactions between Cloud & Aerith are, in my opinion, the best in the Remake. They're wonderfully written, superbly voice-acted, & meticulously animated. Props to the writers & animators for designing such believable chemistry between the two. It's not just the spoken dialogues---the nonverbal interactions are outstanding! As a longtime fan of the original FF7, I truly hope that in this Remake, Cloud will be given the second chance to do whatever it takes to redeem himself. Here's hoping for a happy ending---and for plenty of in-game romantic cutscenes (that could rival those of Tidus & Yuna)---for this adorable couple ~
Yea I really hope they let us have the choice, at the expense of the other. We, I mean, Cloud....cant have both, and as much as both are LITERAL perfection, I've got to choose, I mean Cloud damnit. But it would be really nice if there was a way to save Aerith, either through a collection of game choices, like who goes on the Gold Saucer date, or just out right saving her. What would really kill me is if Tifa sees Cloud's heart belongs to Aerith and she sacrifices herself. I would die.

Yes plus, Tifa acts in a sway where I think her and cloud won’t make a good couple, I feel like Aerith and cloud would have worked out and actually be a pretty good couple, whenever I saw cutscenes of Tifa getting touchy with Cloud I just felt like punching her, it annoys me every time.
That's what I thought too until I played Crisis Core and realized that Aerith & Zack really belonged together. This playful and sassy Aerith wasn't developed until she had met Zack. And Cloud just belongs with Tifa given everything they both have been through. They literally have no one else but each other at the end of the day. No parents, family, etc.

@@bentucky4324 this simply isn't true, though. tifa helped raise marlene and deeply cares for her as part of her family. after the OG game, they've formed a family with their friends. they both aren't alone. also, no matter what crisis core wants you to think about aerith, it is a retcon of aerith's character. there is no reason the writers needed to attribute every single character trait she had in the OG game to zack, even down to the way she dresses. not to mention that crisis core was directed by someone who didn't work on the OG game, so ofc he didn't get the characters. he's also since resigned from SE. not to mention that, in aerith's novel that is officially liscensed as a canon work by SE, she admits that she loves cloud much more than she ever loved zack. cloud, too, would not answer tifa's question of whether or not he loved her in her novel (and then left after assuring her they'd get through their issues together), but in the remake when aerith tells cloud not to fall in love with her, he says he wants his own say in the matter. so... idk you tell me who "belongs" with who, or not.

@@midwestbambi Final Fantasy is a game series, but each Final Fantasy is a different story. So you can totally start with the one you want. Final Fantasy VII is a bit different, because the game was so successful they made multiple games out of it's universe, novels, movie, etc. You can play the Original Final Fantasy VII or you can directly start with Final Fantasy VII Remake. Just know that if you start with Remake there's bits of the plot that you'll probably don't understand completely or that are gonna be a little confusing, especially regarding Aerith. But I promise you that you don't need to be a gaming person to enjoy their story ^^
At the scene where Cloud asks Aerith if she'll be alright getting back home and she says "And if I said I didn't?" He immediately says, "I'll go with you" with no second thought. Even though he needed to get back to Tifa and Sector 7. Unlike with the rest, he'd most probably say, "For the right price." AND TAKE NOTE: He's only met Aerith for about a day and look how different and close their interactions are than the others, despite Cloud's enigmatic personality. Aerith was the only one who made Cloud open to his feelings. And yeah I know, Tifa too but then again, Cloud and Aerith have only met for one day, and they're bond is already pretty much progressed. You can only imagine if Aerith was Cloud's childhood friend. (Please I don't mean any hate on Tifa or any of the other characters. They're all amazing. Just stating some opinions and yep you guessed it, proud Clerith shipper here)
I'm a man, and IMO what you're saying is 100% true, the tears, the guilt, the loss in Advent Children, the sad Theme playing even after the Aerith Death Scene is over and Jenova Boss Appear, I think the message is crystal clear. Tifa is a very caring girl especially when Cloud get mako poisoning, but kindness can't really open someone's heart, because the end of the day, heart don't lie, and the most painful way to realize it is when your loved ones, gone 🥲

I love it too! Also notice how even though he's sitting right next to Tifa on the floor, he crosses the room to Aerith without even looking back to see if Tifa is getting up, let alone giving her a hand first. Aerith is already mostly up anyway by that time, but Cloud still holds her arm for support. It might seem like a minor detail but the game is full of these instances where Cloud's concern for Aerith far outstrips his concern for anyone else.

i find it kinda funny that people use Advent Children to claim they're "endgame" and that they're romantically together when in reality they sleep in different beds and he distances himself from her. i know he had his reasons but that movie is NOT proof of how they're supposedly a couple lmao, if anything it shows how incompatible they are. tifa doesn't understand him and cloud doesn't know how to communicate with her. he cares about her as a friend for sure, but there was 0 romantic chemistry between them and litteraly no indication whatsoever that they were together in that movie.

Aerith is the kind of woman a lot of guys need in this world .. one that makes you leave your comfort zone with no judgement, makes you laugh, smile when you haven’t allowed yourself to have one in years One thing that caught my attention but is really subtle is that we all know how Cloud blames himself for what he feels are his failures from his past …. When they were in the sewers and Aerith and Tifa were pulling cloud up (from falling), Cloud got up and immediately says “sorry about that” and Aerith replies “no need to be” … a lot of men need to hear and know how their failures do not define them
Oh my, the scene at the sewers is so subtle it could easily be missed. Thank you for mentioning it. Cloud really does put a facade of always being strong. I'm sure being told that he doesn't need to be sorry for falling means a lot.

People saying the “you can’t fall in love with me even if you think you have it’s not real” means aerith is rejecting cloud are in soooo much denial. 💀💀 Anyone can put two and two together and realize she’s trying to suppress her own growing feelings for cloud to save him from the pain he’ll feel when she’s gone.
Same with the Hollow lyrics- it’s so blatantly obvious it’s about Cloud’s feelings for Aerith and his regrets/guilt. Even if you didn’t see the romance between them, that moment ™ in the og is probably the most important scene in FF7 by far. It’s brought up in 7R, it’s brought up even after it happens in the og, it’s brought up by people who never played FF7. Aerith is literally the most pivotal character in the game.
Her feelings don't matter. What matters is how Cloud feels, and according to the original, he didn't fall in love with her. So her words don't mean much. And I don't think they're for the player at all. The important thing is that she added that it's just his imagination, in case that happens.

Ultimania clearly indicates that he sees her disappearing, and is trying to grasp her, so it's more his face of confusion. Secondly, he is not trying to speak out, because the English translation is wrong. He says that this Aerith "sounds one-sided." And if you look at the free camera, his face doesn't look romantic. And if that were true, he would have had a good chance of doing so, after an objection, but he is silent, which comes to the point where his objection says that she is clearly saying something inappropriate, and there is no point in going any further. And at a subsequent meeting in the Shinra building, he doesn't seem interested in her either, which confirms that he's not interested in her.

So maybe that's the reason why he doesn't want to look like he is that concerned when they met Aerith in the Shinra building again but you can see that he is clearly worried about her when they're on their way. Cloud always reminds the team that their number one priority is to get Aerith to safety. And Cloud saying "please" to Barret with a sincere look on his face while asking him to take Aerith away from the Shinra makes me think that he really cares so much.
That's why people denying the aerith/cloud scene happened seems ridiculous. Also the amazing thing is that it's Cloud's resolution scene, not Aerith's. So it's how Cloud feels, while the other two focus on how Barret and Tifa reasons for going to Shinra.

Aerith was this new girl that Cloud met that was vibrant and was also in danger at the time so it was natural to reach out to her, and there were hardly any problems between them in terms of interaction. When it comes to Tifa, the issue of Cloud’s past about Nibelheim become involved, and him expressing those feelings become difficult. Outside of saving her when danger is afoot, or other situations like where a guy might hit on her, Cloud is very apprehensive when it comes to Tifa, like he might screw up, again in his terms.

There wasn't any indication that he had Zack's feelings or memories. He only knew about the stories Zack told him and incorporated those stories into his own, making his SOLDIER persona. It doesn't make any sense, like if he had Zack's all this time, shouldn't he knows who Aerith is from the moment they met in that LOVELESS. He even being rude to her. About how easy Cloud opened up to Aerith so quickly, it can be anything actually. For me it's because they have similar childhood, lonely, lost the same important person, experimented, both wear a mask to hide their true feelings, and yet they can bring out the best in each other and be vulnerable to each other. It even stated that "Aerith's warm cheer begin to melt Cloud's frosty exterior." But it's not only Cloud though, Aerith's also opened up so quickly with him that she was to other people. And about "it's not real", in interview, Nojima said that line is related to Aerith's fate later in the story. So basically she's trying to separate Cloud from the heartbreak of her fate
@@elishasli The creator of the game said they aren’t going to play favourites with Aerith and Tifa in the remake and that it’s going to take a familiar route in what we decide for Cloud. It’s up to the players choice who he ends to with. It’s canon that he’s in a love triangle as well, which means he’s in love with both girls.

The villian Sephiroth has returned to the past to change his fate but the heroine Aerith also seems to be aware of the future and at the end of the game they basically destroyed fate, so anything can happen in the next parts, including Aerith's fate
I just dont get how ppl who play this game still doesnt love the relationship between clerith. Clearly dont need these vids to tell that they have feeling toward each other. It is so obvious that my 5 yo niece can tell which one is the couple when she watched me play, and i didnt even explain things to her.
Well,i tried looking at the communities for the other ships and made my judgement that most ships (mainly zack x aerith and cloud x tifa) only exist because the shippers -don't understand that cloud is an actual character and not just a flesh vessel to insert yourself into the world(i mainly see this with cloti's that only talk about tifa's feelings for cloud and not vice versa) -misunderstand the game's plot,refuse to do more research on the game,and by extension,the way romance actually works or blantantly ignore everything they're told in favor of their ship.(i mainly see this with zerith's that say that aerith "belongs" with zack because she had a non serious teenage crush on him,despite the fact that someone can love more than one person in their life,zack is already dead and she moved on from him,yet say that cloud should move on after aerith died and that he doesn't belong to her.) -they never get the chance to do their own independent research because of reasons like not having the money for the game and can thus easily be brainwashed into believing cloud and aerith were never a thing. While there's more reasons why these ships exist,they almost always boil down to these three reasons,like how each color known to man is technically just red,blue and yellow used in very specific ways.
As much as I love Aerith as a character, the facts just points to the other direction. The fact being, Aerith and Cloud' affections are only influenced by Zack. In CC, Aerith wrote letters to Zack for almost two straight years. In the original FFVII, Aerith actually distanced herself from Cloud during their visit to Gongaga, Zack's hometown. Going back, Cloud's words to Aerith during their first meeting in the church was heavily influenced by Zack's memories--or at least Cloud's locked memory of Zack. Because of the events of Crisis Core, it's highly possible that Aerith's affection to Cloud is only influenced by his eerie similarity to her ex-boyfriend. The same way goes for Cloud. His affection to Aerith is most likely influenced by Zack's memories. I'm pretty sure that if your niece grew older and found the real history of this game, she just might point Cloud to Tifa, or Barret or something.

Sure at first she's drawn to him because he kind of behave like Zack but she started to love Cloud more as the time goes. @@ul5645 @Ul Cloud never had Zack's memories per se, simply influenced by it. Zack's memories were being imprinted onto Cloud and is therefore conflicting with Cloud's. This is why we see the instant flashes whenever Cloud is asked about his past, whether they are his or not. That being said, Cloud's rudeness to Aerith at LOVELESS avenue is simply his usual behavior. Perhaps SE didn't want those white flashes being repeated over and over, so much so that the big plot twist wouldn't be so much of a plot twist in the end. If so, then a white flash upon meeting Aerith would signal the players to immediately think that something is weird, and after the flashback scene in Kalm, players would've already got the gist of it. That big reveal wouldn't be as appealing if the players understood that something was messed up in Cloud's brain, immediately in Disc One. Though, I do believe that Aerith's love for Cloud progressed, unlike Tifa who always had been. However, Aerith's early demeanor towards Cloud is still influenced by Cloud's similarity to Zack--especially with Cloud carrying that big ass sword.

I remembered that it's already explained in the remake ultimania that it happened when Cloud tried hard to remember something, when Cloud gets snippet of the future (Aerith's future mostly), and as way to save himself from the truth (when Aerith said Zack name, but Cloud can't hear that). But I don't save the translation so sorry. But I'm sure almost every new player already aware that something was messed up in Cloud's brain lol.
I literally know nothing about final fantasy. But this is one of the best things i've ever seen. Both the editing and the relationship dynamic is an absolute goldmine.
when Cloud hangs with Avalanche he is normally more of an ass, serious, doesnt really care for anyone and has a cold blooded nature from being a Soldier too long. when he meets Aerith he slowly becomes more humane and opens up without even realizing it
Cloud was never a SOLDIER he only got Mako and Jenova Cells injected in him by Professor Hojo because he has Mako in his veins he believed he was a SOLDIER when he never made it into the process. I think he got his SOLDIER persona mainly from his own interpretation and idea of what SOLDIERs are like

Cloud and Aerith were the best part about this game! Aerith has always been my favourite character but I love that I started to like Cloud more too when he was with her. She brought out such a nice side of him that we didn't see with any of the other characters. They're the cutest.🥺💗
Honestly I feel if Aerith hadn't died, her and Cloud would've ended up together. It's sad to see some fans claim Cloud's feelings for her weren't real.
It's crazy how some cloti are already like, see we're endgame we got so many moments of Cloud and Tifa in the first part and they're gonna have sex under the highwind in HD. Like sex is what makes a relationship and they seem to forget that this is only the first part and Cloud and Aerith will have more moments. I don't care what they say, Cloud's feelings were real for Aerith. You don't constantly think about someone like Cloud did after their passing if you didn't feel something for them.
The dynamic between Cloud and each of the gals is contingent on choices you make… so scenes like these with Aerith are more abundant when you favor her, and Tifa if you choose to favor her. That said… I watched the video for each, and the difference in chemistry is unmistakable. I’ve always been team Clerith, and this video about makes me cry for how powerful the bond is between them… so much more organic, so much deeper… There are undeniably scenes that are Cloti if you play that way… but they don’t resonate like the Cloud and Aerith scenes do! He is softer with Aerith, tries harder, is more playful, is happier (so much of the Cloti scenes seems driven by guilt and/or duty)… Cloud wants to be around Aerith. Chooses it, and finds joy in being around her. It’s so much more awesome.

I just have to say that I had never played a Final Fantasy game in my life, but last year this video got recommended to me by TH-cam and I watched it out of curiosity and I literally got FFVIIR because I was so intrigued by Cloud and Aerith’s relationship. Now I’m thoroughly obsessed with the game but mostly Clerith❤️ I also played Crisis Core Reunion since I wanted more FFVII content😄 Now I come back and watch this video occasionally. I'm so glad someone else mentioned that pose change when he and Aerith are talking at the playground! The body language says so much, especially about Cloud because he's so defensive and closed off most of the time. So seeing him open up to Aerith is so gosh darn beautiful!
this is awesome, funny and much love to both Aerith and Cloud. yeah the dream sequence is more obvious in Japanese. if a man says mukae-ni-iku to a woman in this situation it is practically a phrase to whom he is seriously in love with, like someone he would marry with. if Cloud was just going to get Aerith out of trouble it would be more suitable to say tasuke-ni-iku.
@@flowergirlff7505 it is mukae-ni-iku(迎えに行く) in Cloud's resolution, where he says "i'm coming for you" in English. it literally means "i will go pick you up", but has romantic subtext behind it(in Japan it was once a pure and sincere way to say "i will make you my bride"). it implies he is in love with Aerith and how much he cares for her. if she was just a member of the team it would be other words like tasuke-ni-iku(助けに行く), which could be said to anybody to be rescued. mukae-ni-ku is a calm yet emotional sentence when used in a romantic context, plus Cloud is a blunt man and does not normally speak this kind of stuff, so it is very sweet for those words coming out of his mouth.
I always come back to this video whenever I start thinking about ff7, this video genuinely makes me feel like a middle schooler having a crush with my toes curling, smile widening, face blushing and everything. I really hope we get to save her this time around 😭😭😭
lol you also notice how upset Cloud was when Aerith was taken from him. That was kinda a highlight for me cause you see him ignoring every ill-intention from others towards him or he is obvious to bad stuff Shinra has done and has never show any anger. But he was super pissed when the whispers took Aerith right before his eyes. Even with the camera's angle just slightly from above to make it feels more menacing, staff really put lots of thoughts in expressing Cloud's emotions cause he is bad with words.
You can't be more right about this. Cloud isn't a man of many words that's why you can see how he truly feels from his expressions. I especially love his eyes and how he conveys his feelings through themT^T. Cloud is so precious and Aerith made him feel that❤.
Aerith x Cloud has always been canon since the original game. The remake only made it more obvious. I copied a post from another person in another video something that confirms that : "I mean...it's not like Square in their publishing campaign back in 1997, tell us during the trailer, while showing the scene of Cloud laying Aerith's body on the water at the city of the ancients, " The story of a LOVE that can never be." That too obvious to you guys? The company and the author told us about it even in the marketing campaign and made it SO obvious both in the OG and the Remake that I don't understand this whole shipping war. Kazushige Nojima himself, the writer, has confirmed this several times in interviews since the OG game. He called them "star-crossed lovers" in one of his interviews for the OG game. I will put the links below if you want. Cloud is haunted by Aerith's death in the OG until the end and wants to meet her again - except of the OG game ending - Cloud: "An answer from the planet, the promised land. I think I can meet her there". Even years latter, in Advent children we see this to be true, and Kazushige Nojima in an interview confirmed that Cloud and Tifa aren't in a relationship nor have they ever been in a relationship until advent children. According to him, they couldn't have anything more than friendship because Cloud is still in love with Aerith and blames himself for her death. The only thing that is keeping them simply living in the same place are Marlene and Denzel. Tifa even berates him in the AD because he disappears and doesn't pay attention to her, and that's because she can't understand him. She had this idealized version of him in her head of the knight in shining armor (the promise, that's what heroes do, they save people) and what she got was this shell of a man that is almost broken from his "perceived" sins. I really don't know how anyone can say that this song is for anyone else BUT Aerith. It's so obvious that to claim otherwise is simply projecting their expectations and not listening to the song and not really following the story."
Even in the AC original end credits show Cloud on his motorcycle on a road by fields of yellow flowers and Aerith waiting for him. It's implied that he finds his promised land. They got rid of it in later editions because of rabid cloti fans but you can find it on TH-cam
@@rodanandme Agreed. I understand open endings with games where you yourself can make the character. But Cloud is himself and I think this is a chance to make it clear where his feelings are as well as just enjoy his journey overall. I know Aerith will inevitably die, I'm sure SE will absolutely play with that fact so much since we're expecting it. But this time we can truly see his interactions and emotions this time around.
Yeah. I remember playing the original fully on PS1 at least 3 times and having Cloud lean toward Aerith or Tifa each playthrough. I think I like each relationship equally but Tifa edged out slightly because the childhood friend sentiment (can relate with my wife). I haven't played the Remake yet but watching these scenes (especially that vision with the tear drop) - Square did a really good job with Cloud and Aerith here. The subtly of them bonding is a pleasure to watch.

You're NOT wrong. Tifa definitely tip toes around those walls, but Aerith? Her bubbly, playful, assertiveness is just what the doctor ordered! Getting Cloud to talk is like pulling teeth, but with Aerith, he's quite the chatterbox. 💞
Tifa loved cloud for a long time,that’s why she is trying hard to impress him and can not be herself because of nervousness when she is close to her crush. Meanwhile Aerith loved another man and she being herself around cloud made him feel relaxed. I love your description though!
Not only is this accurate and underrated asf but I LOVE the inclusion of Jessie. She literally had as much potentional as Aerith but the writers just fucked that relationship up the ass. And for what?!
Is it just me, or was Remake!Jessie kind of a foreshadowing for the kind of woman that Cloud likes or feels more willing to open up to? Someone chatty, a little funny/silly, older (I think she's 2 years Cloud's senior) and some real confidence in her self worth? Even she was capable of noticing that Cloud's front was kind of a facade pretty early. Don't want to sound like I'm diminishing Jessie's character, though. She's easily one of my highlights in the Remake. And if she doesn't make it back in subsequent games, I'm going to be really sad.

This just explains why NA SE needs to hire a new translator. Because the 3rd line of Aerith was not like that in Japanese. She noticed that Cloud was nervous, and she said this - You're worked up. And he answers her - It's not like that! So he's trying to hide what Tifa means to him, and he says he can't explain it. If nothing had happened, or if they were just friends, it would have been easy to explain. It's the same thing in the sewers. Tifa asks if we can trust her. She has gotten into their company, which is a terrorist cell, and Tifa doesn't understand the reasons why she is taking such an initiative. Nothing with jealousy is anywhere near here.

Love and cherish every moment I have with Aerith in this stupid little game, it feels like I have a friend really, she's a comfort character that you'll never forget having, she's the character that brings people back up in life, honestly I never thought a game I got 6 months ago would mean something alot more than any other game.

I think she really is in love with Zach. I mean after all these years she still waited for him. And even told cloud not to fall in love with her. Plus in death she is reunited with Zach.

Cloud was SO ME in that "never a dull moment with you" scene. I was like HOW IS SHE SO MUCH FUN WHILE- I was bored as all hell in every scene Tifa was present!!! Also Cloud acted SO MUCH MORE HUMAN around Aerith, the effect she had on him was like a cure for his traumatized emo self, while Tifa never had an effect on him other than making him miserable and confused
I wouldn’t say I was bored with Tifa, I would say that she didn’t have enough impact in the scenes she was in, with the only highlight (in my opinion) was mixing drinks. Meanwhile there were so many good moments with Aerith that had her shining personality, playfulness and Kindness steals the scenes and you can actually FEEL the impact with her and cloud
As a 7 year old when I first watched my brother play this game, and me no concept of character development or romantic pairings, just watching my big brother play I ALWAYS thought Cloud and Aerith were the couple of the game. No questions asked or doubts. And that it was so devastating at the scene of her death that that was how someone looked when their LOVED one died. Aerith and Cloud gave me my first concept and impression of what Love truly looked like and that’s what I wanted when I grew up. Crazy how much these characters and this game influenced me as a person. Love Cloud and Aerith. ♥️

If you were 7 years old when you first saw your big brother play FFVII and FFVII was first released in 1997, then the earliest year you were born was late, 1989 or early 1990. Which would make you closer to 34 in the year 2024. But besides that. Aerith always seemed like Cloud's soulmate.

I have never played a single final fantasy game but I have watched this video at least two dozen times and it is a huge motivator behind my desire to play the next installment so I can see where their love story goes. I really wanted the multiple scenes where Cloud has to keep reminding Barret and Tifa that they need to save Aerith to be included here, he's laser-focused and visibly annoyed that the others are getting distracted lol Also that scene where Cloud proudly claims to be a SOLDIER, when he's spent the whole game correcting everyone... Just because he heard that Hojo was planning to have Aerith breed with a SOLDIER. He even corrects others again after that, so it was 100% intentional.
Omg you are so right, it was intentional wasn't it? Someone else had pointed this out in a comment on another video, and I found it amusing but chalked it up to mostly coincidence. After all, never in a million years would Cloud actually want to take part in such a twisted experiment under Hojo. That being said, Hojo's plans definitely put some thoughts into Cloud's head, didn't they? I can't say what those thoughts were exactly, but they resulted in Cloud not being able to say "ex-SOLDIER" to Hojo in this context. The idea of him being a good match for Aerith was too strong. And yeah, he definitely corrects Rufus later on, he never misses a correction in the entire game except for this one. It's not a coincidence! Thanks for this.
Tifa is very different from Aerith as well as her relationship with Cloud, they don't have the same chemistry and I'm sure it's to show that they are not really close, they can barely have a good conversation without understanding each other and an awkward moment.It's funny because Cloud gets closer to Aerith in a short time thanks to her understanding, patient and brilliant personality, she knows how to bring out the best sides she sees in him.
I just finished the game a few days ago and can I just say, this video is now officially one of my favorite videos on youtube overall! Adding this to my library to watch whenever I feel down!! That "I'm coming for you" of Remake reminds of "You came for me, that's all that matters" from AC. They could've made him say "I'm going to rescue you" but they used that specific parallel from AC. I find that detail really sad but beautiful. Anyways, #clerith 😭❤️
By the Gods, it is only part 1 of this remake and yet this is the greatest love story i ever saw. May they live long enough to properly declare their love for one another this time. May she live in the end, to see the steel sky again.
@@zest167 If this was the original game, i would agree, however the point of this remake was to defy destiny. So if they is no significant change from here on now, then that subplot would be superfluous and pointless. Not to mention, Cloud receive 5 visions predicting her death. While not clear, he will connect the dots and i'm sure he will do anything in his power to prevent it.
the chemistry between cloud and aerith is something i love SO MUCH!! they just seem to bring out so much in each other and it’s so natural, they really are my favorite ship :)

@@Radagon543 FF7 OG is There for clerith too, and if case of lifestream white is canon (which it is) then Zack x Aerith in Advent children isn't because COLW is a prequel to AC and it mentions Aerith as Cloud's lover, and Dirge of Cerberus which happens few years after AC only stated Tifa as Cloud's childhood friend, therefore Cloud x Tifa isnt canon in AC either.
Besides Aerith moved on to Cloud, that is already obvious in the OG and stated by SE *a lot* of times.

With aerith, cloud get to explore himself more. Her warmth and supportive manner just help him to open up, to be more of a reliable figure people just expect him to be. With cloud, aerith drops a little bit of her pretentious tendency to being optimistic and carefree all the time and actually shows her inner worry and fear. Together they are so natural without having to bother what others think of them. Many ppl don't see they are a good fit cause of their contrast behaviour, but It's okay, cause it's love.
What you said reminds me of tidus and yuna's relationship. Someone said "with yuna, tidus became more grounded and accepting of reality and with tidus questioning about Yevon in every way possible, yuna broadens her horizon and realized the dark side of what shes been believing in her whole life." He also said that people in the company argued for a very long time whether to add this line or not , some developers believed that people could perceive these words as if Aerith looked down on the Cloud, but in the end everyone came to the conclusion that this line would lead to very big emotions of people who are familiar with the original, so these words are still present in the game

I'm glad they decided to keep this line in there because it had a huge impact on me (also felt like it was the final piece of the puzzle for me on deciding that Aerith knew the goings on of OG). Can't believe they thought it could be interpreted as her looking down on Cloud, her facial expression and the tone of her voice (especially in Japanese because that's the one I always opt for) say the complete opposite, but that's my perspective I suppose.

I think Aerith really caught Cloud off guard. He had his walls built so high up - even towards someone like Tifa, who was a very dear childhood friend of his. In the beginning of the game you spend a lot of time together with Tifa as Cloud, and it just feels distant... like even in Seventh Heaven, they didn't sit directly next to each other, leaving a stool between them. That to me tells a lot about their relationship. Obviously Tifa means a lot to Cloud and he cares very much about her. But Aerith is different.
He had a change of heart after meeting her and spending time with her, caring less about being a mercenary and looking out only for himself. He started to truly care about the wellbeing of others, and opened up a lot more. I always felt like Cloud showed much more emotion around Aerith compared to Tifa, who he seemed reluctant to open up to (maybe because they have so much history to their relationship). But for Cloud, Aerith is a fresh start. I love the childhood friends to lovers trope as much as anyone, but sometimes people need to let go of the past. I think that's true for Cloud.
He and Aerith had so many sweet moments together in the game (thank you OP for compiling them into one awesome video :D), and to me it's pretty obvious they are both into each other... no disrespect to anyone who likes Cloud/Tifa though, as I could see that being a healthy ship too. But Cloud/Aerith is so romantic and the best choice for me.
Cloud and Tifa were never close friends , she never paid much attention to him because she was the queen of the village . Cloud mixed up memories because of the Jenova cells , and in the very first chapter he has a memory where Tifa calls him and he ignores her , but of course it was he who called her and she ignored him .So who are ship Cloud and Tifa, because they are childhood friends, then these people are strange. In fact , the real thing was the memory at the mill when he called her to say that he wanted to become a soldier . He was surprised that she came at all , and in the end , to prove to himself and her , he went to shinra , couldnt become a soldier , because he was weak . As a result , he became an experiment , Jenova mixed up his memories, Cloud created the illusory world of a tough soldier for his protection, his memory took Zack 's story as the basis , so he appropriated his actions . As a result, all his suffering is due to the fact that Tifa could not become a real friend for him. If she had noticed his loneliness , then everything would have been fine with Cloud . Now he doesn 't even know how to high - five people . And its Aerith who is his salvation and a ray of light . Its she who changes him, shows him that he is important to her. This is what Cloud needs. And it is absolutely logical that Cloud falls in love with her

@@НикитаСимонян-ж5е Although I prefer Cloud/Aeris, obviously, you shouldn't blame Tifa for the terrible things that happened to Cloud. He had his own reasons for trying to prove himself by becoming a hero and joining Shinra. He was an awkward, weak outcast in the village, who seemed to frequently get in trouble. Tifa also had a lot of problems, and in a way felt trapped and needing a hero, which is why she made him promise he'd be her hero if he became one. There definitely wasn't a childhood romance there, and people blow it way out of proportion to push the idea that they've been in love since childhood, but Tifa isn't a villain either. They were two struggling kids who became two adults with serious issues. Their primary conflict as a couple is that Tifa doesn't understand him and superimposes an image of Cloud that isn't real on top of him - which feeds into his delusions and false memories until it ultimately causes a complete identity collapse. As has been stated, she continues to not understand him even going into Advent Children, but she's not actively harming his mental state at that point.

Finally, someone who doesn’t turn shipping into arguing about liking or hating Tifa or Aerith. I’m a Clerith shipper, HEAVILY, but Tifa still has my heart in a way. tbh between tifa and aerith. Tifa was so distant from him for his first 15 years that between cloud falling from the mako reactor to getting picked by don corneo. He had already spent more time 1 on 1 with aerith than 15 years with tifa. All cloud wanted his entire life was some one to want him around. And it really shows.
She's a Cetra. She's the steward of the planet. Cloud is one of the products of the Planet. So it's pretty easy for her to know how to look after him, like mother to son.
At least, Cloud found the girl his mom hoped for.
@@az_3kgt714 Tifa was in doubt of Cloud's identity because he didn't behave like the same Cloud she used to know. She also resent the idea that he was not to her rescue when their town was razed by Sephiroth.
She's been through too much loss. She's completely closed herself up. And she had reasons to do so. Moreover, Tifa is very soft in the inside but trying to act tough on the outside.
Aerith, on the other hand, has just met Cloud. It was like a lonesome explorer just discovered a new land after years of wandering. She has no torn past in common with Cloud. Moreover, she's sentenced to certain death. All she wants is to spend the rest of her days in the best way possible.
But as soon as Tifa and Cloud solve their torn past and get to the common ground, she'd become his best ally. Especially, Aerith will no longer be there anymore.
The interactions between Cloud & Aerith are, in my opinion, the best in the Remake. They're wonderfully written, superbly voice-acted, & meticulously animated. Props to the writers & animators for designing such believable chemistry between the two. It's not just the spoken dialogues---the nonverbal interactions are outstanding! As a longtime fan of the original FF7, I truly hope that in this Remake, Cloud will be given the second chance to do whatever it takes to redeem himself. Here's hoping for a happy ending---and for plenty of in-game romantic cutscenes (that could rival those of Tidus & Yuna)---for this adorable couple ~
Yea I really hope they let us have the choice, at the expense of the other. We, I mean, Cloud....cant have both, and as much as both are LITERAL perfection, I've got to choose, I mean Cloud damnit.
But it would be really nice if there was a way to save Aerith, either through a collection of game choices, like who goes on the Gold Saucer date, or just out right saving her. What would really kill me is if Tifa sees Cloud's heart belongs to Aerith and she sacrifices herself. I would die.

Yes he is. I understand and respect those who prefer Tifa, but Aerith and Cloud would be so much more interesting as a love story.
Yes plus, Tifa acts in a sway where I think her and cloud won’t make a good couple, I feel like Aerith and cloud would have worked out and actually be a pretty good couple, whenever I saw cutscenes of Tifa getting touchy with Cloud I just felt like punching her, it annoys me every time.
That's what I thought too until I played Crisis Core and realized that Aerith & Zack really belonged together. This playful and sassy Aerith wasn't developed until she had met Zack.
And Cloud just belongs with Tifa given everything they both have been through. They literally have no one else but each other at the end of the day. No parents, family, etc.

also, no matter what crisis core wants you to think about aerith, it is a retcon of aerith's character. there is no reason the writers needed to attribute every single character trait she had in the OG game to zack, even down to the way she dresses. not to mention that crisis core was directed by someone who didn't work on the OG game, so ofc he didn't get the characters. he's also since resigned from SE.
not to mention that, in aerith's novel that is officially liscensed as a canon work by SE, she admits that she loves cloud much more than she ever loved zack. cloud, too, would not answer tifa's question of whether or not he loved her in her novel (and then left after assuring her they'd get through their issues together), but in the remake when aerith tells cloud not to fall in love with her, he says he wants his own say in the matter.

He was depressed for 2 years and only "moved on" because he didn't move on! @@midwestbambi Final Fantasy is a game series, but each Final Fantasy is a different story. So you can totally start with the one you want.
Final Fantasy VII is a bit different, because the game was so successful they made multiple games out of it's universe, novels, movie, etc.
You can play the Original Final Fantasy VII or you can directly start with Final Fantasy VII Remake. Just know that if you start with Remake there's bits of the plot that you'll probably don't understand completely or that are gonna be a little confusing, especially regarding Aerith.
But I promise you that you don't need to be a gaming person to enjoy their story ^^

At the scene where Cloud asks Aerith if she'll be alright getting back home and she says "And if I said I didn't?" He immediately says, "I'll go with you" with no second thought. Even though he needed to get back to Tifa and Sector 7. Unlike with the rest, he'd most probably say, "For the right price." AND TAKE NOTE: He's only met Aerith for about a day and look how different and close their interactions are than the others, despite Cloud's enigmatic personality. Aerith was the only one who made Cloud open to his feelings. And yeah I know, Tifa too but then again, Cloud and Aerith have only met for one day, and they're bond is already pretty much progressed. You can only imagine if Aerith was Cloud's childhood friend.
(Please I don't mean any hate on Tifa or any of the other characters. They're all amazing. Just stating some opinions and yep you guessed it, proud Clerith shipper here)
I'm a man, and IMO what you're saying is 100% true, the tears, the guilt, the loss in Advent Children, the sad Theme playing even after the Aerith Death Scene is over and Jenova Boss Appear, I think the message is crystal clear. Tifa is a very caring girl especially when Cloud get mako poisoning, but kindness can't really open someone's heart, because the end of the day, heart don't lie, and the most painful way to realize it is when your loved ones, gone 🥲

I love it too! Also notice how even though he's sitting right next to Tifa on the floor, he crosses the room to Aerith without even looking back to see if Tifa is getting up, let alone giving her a hand first. Aerith is already mostly up anyway by that time, but Cloud still holds her arm for support. It might seem like a minor detail but the game is full of these instances where Cloud's concern for Aerith far outstrips his concern for anyone else.

What I love about the relationship between Cloud and Aerith is how she can really open him up. She makes Cloud a different person. I also think it's interesting how much Cloud changed in Advent Children. It got to the point where he ignored and distanced himself from Tifa, his childhood friend.
i find it kinda funny that people use Advent Children to claim they're "endgame" and that they're romantically together when in reality they sleep in different beds and he distances himself from her. i know he had his reasons but that movie is NOT proof of how they're supposedly a couple lmao, if anything it shows how incompatible they are. tifa doesn't understand him and cloud doesn't know how to communicate with her. he cares about her as a friend for sure, but there was 0 romantic chemistry between them and litteraly no indication whatsoever that they were together in that movie.

One thing that caught my attention but is really subtle is that we all know how Cloud blames himself for what he feels are his failures from his past …. When they were in the sewers and Aerith and Tifa were pulling cloud up (from falling), Cloud got up and immediately says “sorry about that” and Aerith replies “no need to be” … a lot of men need to hear and know how their failures do not define them
Oh my, the scene at the sewers is so subtle it could easily be missed. Thank you for mentioning it. Cloud really does put a facade of always being strong. I'm sure being told that he doesn't need to be sorry for falling means a lot.

It’s part of the story of FF 7, Cloud changed after meeting Aerith, no matter who player choose to get affection with.
People saying the “you can’t fall in love with me even if you think you have it’s not real” means aerith is rejecting cloud are in soooo much denial. 💀💀 Anyone can put two and two together and realize she’s trying to suppress her own growing feelings for cloud to save him from the pain he’ll feel when she’s gone.
Same with the Hollow lyrics- it’s so blatantly obvious it’s about Cloud’s feelings for Aerith and his regrets/guilt. Even if you didn’t see the romance between them, that moment ™ in the og is probably the most important scene in FF7 by far. It’s brought up in 7R, it’s brought up even after it happens in the og, it’s brought up by people who never played FF7. Aerith is literally the most pivotal character in the game.
Her feelings don't matter. What matters is how Cloud feels, and according to the original, he didn't fall in love with her. So her words don't mean much. And I don't think they're for the player at all. The important thing is that she added that it's just his imagination, in case that happens.

Secondly, he is not trying to speak out, because the English translation is wrong. He says that this Aerith "sounds one-sided." And if you look at the free camera, his face doesn't look romantic. And if that were true, he would have had a good chance of doing so, after an objection, but he is silent, which comes to the point where his objection says that she is clearly saying something inappropriate, and there is no point in going any further. And at a subsequent meeting in the Shinra building, he doesn't seem interested in her either, which confirms that he's not interested in her.

So maybe that's the reason why he doesn't want to look like he is that concerned when they met Aerith in the Shinra building again but you can see that he is clearly worried about her when they're on their way. Cloud always reminds the team that their number one priority is to get Aerith to safety. And Cloud saying "please" to Barret with a sincere look on his face while asking him to take Aerith away from the Shinra makes me think that he really cares so much.

Also the amazing thing is that it's Cloud's resolution scene, not Aerith's. So it's how Cloud feels, while the other two focus on how Barret and Tifa reasons for going to Shinra.

Aerith was this new girl that Cloud met that was vibrant and was also in danger at the time so it was natural to reach out to her, and there were hardly any problems between them in terms of interaction. When it comes to Tifa, the issue of Cloud’s past about Nibelheim become involved, and him expressing those feelings become difficult. Outside of saving her when danger is afoot, or other situations like where a guy might hit on her, Cloud is very apprehensive when it comes to Tifa, like he might screw up, again in his terms.

It doesn't make any sense, like if he had Zack's all this time, shouldn't he knows who Aerith is from the moment they met in that LOVELESS. He even being rude to her.
About how easy Cloud opened up to Aerith so quickly, it can be anything actually. For me it's because they have similar childhood, lonely, lost the same important person, experimented, both wear a mask to hide their true feelings, and yet they can bring out the best in each other and be vulnerable to each other. It even stated that "Aerith's warm cheer begin to melt Cloud's frosty exterior." But it's not only Cloud though, Aerith's also opened up so quickly with him that she was to other people.
And about "it's not real", in interview, Nojima said that line is related to Aerith's fate later in the story. So basically she's trying to separate Cloud from the heartbreak of her fate

The villian Sephiroth has returned to the past to change his fate but the heroine Aerith also seems to be aware of the future and at the end of the game they basically destroyed fate, so anything can happen in the next parts, including Aerith's fate

I just dont get how ppl who play this game still doesnt love the relationship between clerith. Clearly dont need these vids to tell that they have feeling toward each other. Well,i tried looking at the communities for the other ships and made my judgement that most ships (mainly zack x aerith and cloud x tifa) only exist because the shippers
-don't understand that cloud is an actual character and not just a flesh vessel to insert yourself into the world(i mainly see this with cloti's that only talk about tifa's feelings for cloud and not vice versa)
-misunderstand the game's plot,refuse to do more research on the game,and by extension,the way romance actually works or blantantly ignore everything they're told in favor of their ship.(i mainly see this with zerith's that say that aerith "belongs" with zack because she had a non serious teenage crush on him,despite the fact that someone can love more than one person in their life,zack is already dead and she moved on from him,yet say that cloud should move on after aerith died and that he doesn't belong to her.)
-they never get the chance to do their own independent research because of reasons like not having the money for the game and can thus easily be brainwashed into believing cloud and aerith were never a thing.
While there's more reasons why these ships exist,they almost always boil down to these three reasons,like how each color known to man is technically just red,blue and yellow used in very specific ways.
As much as I love Aerith as a character, the facts just points to the other direction. The fact being, Aerith and Cloud' affections are only influenced by Zack.
In CC, Aerith wrote letters to Zack for almost two straight years. In the original FFVII, Aerith actually distanced herself from Cloud during their visit to Gongaga, Zack's hometown. Going back, Cloud's words to Aerith during their first meeting in the church was heavily influenced by Zack's memories--or at least Cloud's locked memory of Zack. Because of the events of Crisis Core, it's highly possible that Aerith's affection to Cloud is only influenced by his eerie similarity to her ex-boyfriend. The same way goes for Cloud. His affection to Aerith is most likely influenced by Zack's memories.
I'm pretty sure that if your niece grew older and found the real history of this game, she just might point Cloud to Tifa, or Barret or something.

@@ul5645 @Ul Cloud never had Zack's memories per se, simply influenced by it. Zack's memories were being imprinted onto Cloud and is therefore conflicting with Cloud's. This is why we see the instant flashes whenever Cloud is asked about his past, whether they are his or not. That being said, Cloud's rudeness to Aerith at LOVELESS avenue is simply his usual behavior. Perhaps SE didn't want those white flashes being repeated over and over, so much so that the big plot twist wouldn't be so much of a plot twist in the end. If so, then a white flash upon meeting Aerith would signal the players to immediately think that something is weird, and after the flashback scene in Kalm, players would've already got the gist of it. That big reveal wouldn't be as appealing if the players understood that something was messed up in Cloud's brain, immediately in Disc One.
Though, I do believe that Aerith's love for Cloud progressed, unlike Tifa who always had been. However, Aerith's early demeanor towards Cloud is still influenced by Cloud's similarity to Zack--especially with Cloud carrying that big ass sword.

About the white flash, it can be anything actually. I remembered that it's already explained in the remake ultimania that it happened when Cloud tried hard to remember something, when Cloud gets snippet of the future (Aerith's future mostly), and as way to save himself from the truth (when Aerith said Zack name, but Cloud can't hear that). But I don't save the translation so sorry. But I'm sure almost every new player already aware that something was messed up in Cloud's brain lol.

when Cloud hangs with Avalanche he is normally more of an ass, serious, doesnt really care for anyone and has a cold blooded nature from being a Soldier too long. when he meets Aerith he slowly becomes more humane and opens up without even realizing it
Cloud was never a SOLDIER he only got Mako and Jenova Cells injected in him by Professor Hojo because he has Mako in his veins he believed he was a SOLDIER when he never made it into the process. I think he got his SOLDIER persona mainly from his own interpretation and idea of what SOLDIERs are like

The dynamic between Cloud and each of the gals is contingent on choices you make… so scenes like these with Aerith are more abundant when you favor her, and Tifa if you choose to favor her. That said… I watched the video for each, and the difference in chemistry is unmistakable. I’ve always been team Clerith, and this video about makes me cry for how powerful the bond is between them… so much more organic, so much deeper… There are undeniably scenes that are Cloti if you play that way… but they don’t resonate like the Cloud and Aerith scenes do! He is softer with Aerith, tries harder, is more playful, is happier (so much of the Cloti scenes seems driven by guilt and/or duty)… Cloud wants to be around Aerith. Chooses it, and finds joy in being around her. It’s so much more awesome.

I just have to say that I had never played a Final Fantasy game in my life, but last year this video got recommended to me by TH-cam and I watched it out of curiosity and I literally got FFVIIR because I was so intrigued by Cloud and Aerith’s relationship. I like Clerith but, Clifa is my favorite backstory-wise and goal-wise. I even watched the original and crisis core.
I'm so glad someone else mentioned that pose change when he and Aerith are talking at the playground! The body language says so much, especially about Cloud because he's so defensive and closed off most of the time. So seeing him open up to Aerith is so gosh darn beautiful!

this is awesome, funny and much love to both Aerith and Cloud. yeah the dream sequence is more obvious in Japanese. if a man says mukae-ni-iku to a woman in this situation it is practically a phrase to whom he is seriously in love with, like someone he would marry with. if Cloud was just going to get Aerith out of trouble it would be more suitable to say tasuke-ni-iku.
Which one does he say in Japanese? I'm assuming the one that's closer but I don't know the words.
@@flowergirlff7505 it is mukae-ni-iku(迎えに行く) in Cloud's resolution, where he says "i'm coming for you" in English. it literally means "i will go pick you up", but has romantic subtext behind it(in Japan it was once a pure and sincere way to say "i will make you my bride"). it implies he is in love with Aerith and how much he cares for her. if she was just a member of the team it would be other words like tasuke-ni-iku(助けに行く), which could be said to anybody to be rescued. mukae-ni-ku is a calm yet emotional sentence when used in a romantic context, plus Cloud is a blunt man and does not normally speak this kind of stuff, so it is very sweet for those words coming out of his mouth.

lol you also notice how upset Cloud was when Aerith was taken from him. That was kinda a highlight for me cause you see him ignoring every ill-intention from others towards him or he is obvious to bad stuff Shinra has done and has never show any anger. But he was super pissed when the whispers took Aerith right before his eyes. Even with the camera's angle just slightly from above to make it feels more menacing, staff really put lots of thoughts in expressing Cloud's emotions cause he is bad with words.
You can't be more right about this. Cloud isn't a man of many words that's why you can see how he truly feels from his expressions. I especially love his eyes and how he conveys his feelings through themT^T. Cloud is so precious and Aerith made him feel that❤.
Aerith x Cloud has always been canon since the original game. The remake only made it more obvious. I copied a post from another person in another video something that confirms that :
"I mean...it's not like Square in their publishing campaign back in 1997, tell us during the trailer, while showing the scene of Cloud laying Aerith's body on the water at the city of the ancients, " The story of a LOVE that can never be."
That too obvious to you guys? The company and the author told us about it even in the marketing campaign and made it SO obvious both in the OG and the Remake that I don't understand this whole shipping war.
Kazushige Nojima himself, the writer, has confirmed this several times in interviews since the OG game. He called them "star-crossed lovers" in one of his interviews for the OG game. I will put the links below if you want.
Cloud is haunted by Aerith's death in the OG until the end and wants to meet her again - except of the OG game ending - Cloud: "An answer from the planet, the promised land. I think I can meet her there". Even years latter, in Advent children we see this to be true, and Kazushige Nojima in an interview confirmed that Cloud and Tifa aren't in a relationship nor have they ever been in a relationship until advent children. According to him, they couldn't have anything more than friendship because Cloud is still in love with Aerith and blames himself for her death. The only thing that is keeping them simply living in the same place are Marlene and Denzel. Tifa even berates him in the AD because he disappears and doesn't pay attention to her, and that's because she can't understand him. She had this idealized version of him in her head of the knight in shining armor (the promise, that's what heroes do, they save people) and what she got was this shell of a man that is almost broken from his "perceived" sins.
I really don't know how anyone can say that this song is for anyone else BUT Aerith. It's so obvious that to claim otherwise is simply projecting their expectations and not listening to the song and not really following the story."
Even in the AC original end credits show Cloud on his motorcycle on a road by fields of yellow flowers and Aerith waiting for him. It's implied that he finds his promised land.
They got rid of it in later editions because of rabid cloti fans but you can find it on TH-cam
I think both of them are supposed to be "canon" and that's why they give us an option, unlike in FF8, FF9, FF10 and FF15.
@@rodanandme Agreed. I understand open endings with games where you yourself can make the character. But Cloud is himself and I think this is a chance to make it clear where his feelings are as well as just enjoy his journey overall. I know Aerith will inevitably die, I'm sure SE will absolutely play with that fact so much since we're expecting it. But this time we can truly see his interactions and emotions this time around.

Yeah. I remember playing the original fully on PS1 at least 3 times and having Cloud lean toward Aerith or Tifa each playthrough. I think I like each relationship equally but Tifa edged out slightly because the childhood friend sentiment (can relate with my wife). I haven't played the Remake yet but watching these scenes (especially that vision with the tear drop) - Square did a really good job with Cloud and Aerith here. The subtly of them bonding is a pleasure to watch.

You're NOT wrong. Tifa definitely tip toes around those walls, but Aerith? Her bubbly, playful, assertiveness is just what the doctor ordered! Getting Cloud to talk is like pulling teeth, but with Aerith, he's quite the chatterbox. 💞
Tifa loved cloud for a long time,that’s why she is trying hard to impress him and can not be herself because of nervousness when she is close to her crush. Meanwhile Aerith loved another man and she being herself around cloud made him feel relaxed. I love your description though!

Is it just me, or was Remake!Jessie kind of a foreshadowing for the kind of woman that Cloud likes or feels more willing to open up to? Someone chatty, a little funny/silly, older (I think she's 2 years Cloud's senior) and some real confidence in her self worth? Even she was capable of noticing that Cloud's front was kind of a facade pretty early.
Don't want to sound like I'm diminishing Jessie's character, though. She's easily one of my highlights in the Remake. And if she doesn't make it back in subsequent games, I'm going to be really sad.

This just explains why NA SE needs to hire a new translator. Because the 3rd line of Aerith was not like that in Japanese. She noticed that Cloud was nervous, and she said this - You're worked up. And he answers her - It's not like that! So he's trying to hide what Tifa means to him, and he says he can't explain it. If nothing had happened, or if they were just friends, it would have been easy to explain.
It's the same thing in the sewers. Tifa asks if we can trust her. She has gotten into their company, which is a terrorist cell, and Tifa doesn't understand the reasons why she is taking such an initiative. Nothing with jealousy is anywhere near here.

I just noticed that when Cloud first met Aerith, why would Cloud even tell Aerith keep her distance to him like what? You don't even know her? You don't even know if you'll meet again or sumn to tell that. 😂 That's not necessary to tell to a total stranger like would you even tell to a total stranger who would hand you a flyer around the streets to keep your distance to them? 🤣 He's totally interested about her the moment he landed his eyes on her. 💞

Cloud was SO ME in that "never a dull moment with you" scene. I was like HOW IS SHE SO MUCH FUN WHILE- I was bored as all hell in every scene Tifa was present!!!
Also Cloud acted SO MUCH MORE HUMAN around Aerith, the effect she had on him was like a cure for his traumatized emo self, while Tifa never had an effect on him other than making him miserable and confused
I wouldn’t say I was bored with Tifa, I would say that she didn’t have enough impact in the scenes she was in, with the only highlight (in my opinion) was mixing drinks. Meanwhile there were so many good moments with Aerith that had her shining personality, playfulness and Kindness steals the scenes and you can actually FEEL the impact with her and cloud
As a 7 year old when I first watched my brother play this game, and me no concept of character development or romantic pairings, just watching my big brother play I ALWAYS thought Cloud and Aerith were the couple of the game. No questions asked or doubts. And that it was so devastating at the scene of her death that that was how someone looked when their LOVED one died. Aerith and Cloud gave me my first concept and impression of what Love truly looked like and that’s what I wanted when I grew up. Crazy how much these characters and this game influenced me as a person. Love Cloud and Aerith. ♥️

But your math seems a bit off. If you were 7 years old when you first saw your big brother play FFVII and FFVII was first released in 1997, then the earliest year you were born was late, 1989 or early 1990. Which would make you closer to 34 in the year 2024.
But besides that. Aerith always seemed like Cloud's soulmate.

I have never played a single final fantasy game but I have watched this video at least two dozen times and it is a huge motivator behind my desire to play the next installment so I can see where their love story goes. I really wanted the multiple scenes where Cloud has to keep reminding Barret and Tifa that they need to save Aerith to be included here, he's laser-focused and visibly annoyed that the others are getting distracted lol Also that scene where Cloud proudly claims to be a SOLDIER, when he's spent the whole game correcting everyone... Just because he heard that Hojo was planning to have Aerith breed with a SOLDIER. He even corrects others again after that, so it was 100% intentional.
Omg you are so right, it was intentional wasn't it? Someone else had pointed this out in a comment on another video, and I found it amusing but chalked it up to mostly coincidence. After all, never in a million years would Cloud actually want to take part in such a twisted experiment under Hojo. That being said, Hojo's plans definitely put some thoughts into Cloud's head, didn't they? I can't say what those thoughts were exactly, but they resulted in Cloud not being able to say "ex-SOLDIER" to Hojo in this context. The idea of him being a good match for Aerith was too strong. And yeah, he definitely corrects Rufus later on, he never misses a correction in the entire game except for this one. It's not a coincidence! Thanks for this.

Tifa is very different from Aerith as well as her relationship with Cloud, they don't have the same chemistry and I'm sure it's to show that they are not really close, they can barely have a good conversation without understanding each other and an awkward moment.It's funny because Cloud gets closer to Aerith in a short time thanks to her understanding, patient and brilliant personality, she knows how to bring out the best sides she sees in him.

That "I'm coming for you" of Remake reminds of "You came for me, that's all that matters" from AC. They could've made him say "I'm going to rescue you" but they used that specific parallel from AC. I find that detail really sad but beautiful. Anyways, #clerith 😭❤️
By the Gods, it is only part 1 of this remake and yet this is the greatest love story i ever saw. May they live long enough to properly declare their love for one another this time. May she live in the end, to see the steel sky again.

@@zest167 If this was the original game, i would agree, however the point of this remake was to defy destiny. So if they is no significant change from here on now, then that subplot would be superfluous and pointless. Not to mention, Cloud receive 5 visions predicting her death. While not clear, he will connect the dots and i'm sure he will do anything in his power to prevent it.
