Absolutely stunning work Scott - the editing, sound design and obviously the visuals! Super tight - it all gels. Also - the more I see of these lenses in capable hands the more I desire them!
@@EdProsser ah, man. Thank you so much, Ed. This means a lot to me coming from you. 🙏. You are going to love these lenses. I'm still blown away that we're spoiled enough in 2024 to have lenses like this for under 1k. It's absolutely wild
I pre ordered the original set when they were announced, and I may pick up this new 85mm eventually, but I am more excited for when the 33mm comes out. The 45mm is amazing, but I also have the Sirui Saturn 35mm, and the Remus 33mm would give about the same field of view (around 22mm) with it's 1.5x squeeze vs the 1.6x of the Sirui, while also going down to T1.6. I can wait for the 85mm since I have the 65mm and 100mm, plus for video, I rarely go tighter than a 50-55mm field of view equivalent, unless for specific shots, which the Remus 85mm is right at the edge of that. But, as always, amazing video!
@@v3blaxican totally! I'm typically a wider range guy too. I do like long lenses but they kind of require a bigger canvas/ more space. I've had the 45 backordered for ages. It's killing me.
Awesome job! It's fantastic to see Blazar are continuing to add focal lengths to the Remus line. With the 33 being developed plus now this 85mm, it's like Christmas came early ;-)
They used a lot of imperfect lens choices in the Obi-Wan series. That gave it that grungy look more inline with Star Wars: A new Hope. Great review btw. Subbed
@@baxslatton thanks so much, man! Haha yeah , I agree. I only make 1-2 big / expensive gear purchases a year so lenses are always so hard to justify... But these blazar ones are so hard to pass up 🤤😅
@@imdrecordings Thanks so much! Yeah, I used a PL to E adapter. They have emount, but I figured if I get an adapter, I can keep investing in PL lenses and use them on different cameras if I need to. Since it's not on a focus, I don't really need the e mount

Really a good idea to review something with a short movie 👏 we made a short movie with anamorphic lenses too 😅 coming soon 🎥 best cinematic greetings from germany
@@ScottJeschke In general, what is the footage being used for? It appears quite expensive to setup for it. I haven't ever seen anamorphic content except at a theatre. Why so much interest among TH-camrs whose content is mostly watched on a smartphone?
@@TexpatOTG it's used a ton in commercials these days, and narrative projects. For general creator content less so, but I'd say it's on the rise with more affordable options. A lot of people use them for "cinematic" travel videos now too
@@TexpatOTG yep. Absolutely. 5 years ago, the cheapest anamorphic was probably about $6,000. It's crazy how far they've come down in price. And you are so welcome! Thanks for watching :)

Side note, as for cleaner anamorphics, I actually use the Surui 35mm Saturn lens for photography now that I use the Blazar's for video
