愛称　【チャマガニ】　勝山市を「かっちゃま」と発音します。昔は忍者が木登りに使用していた。道の両側の木に登り、縄を引っ張り武者を落馬させたり、石垣を登る道具とした。現在は山林道具としてチェンソーやナタで下枝を落し、杉、檜に節ができないようにしたり、造園用に使っている。
