Gravel ROCKS….literally. Great job covering for Erin. What a great friend. About the only road I do is the transition from gravel segment to gravel segment.
Great video and fantastic to see what an event in the US is like. I also have the same bike (SL6 etap) and i use it regularly with the gravel tyres and also on Zipp 303s wheels with 30 mm tyres and it works really well. Although the 1x is not ideal for fast road riding. Our roads here in the UK can be pretty scary with mad drivers but it's great to have the flexibility with just just one bike. I hope your cycling sister is back with you soon. 😘
Thank You so much! I have Zipp 303's on my 2021 Checkpoint SL7 (this is Erin btw the injured one responding). I LOVE those wheels...Lindsay doesn't usually race road, as this race was supposed to be a gravel race but they changed it last minute...It is our dream to come ride in the UK one day!!!
Hello Erin I hope you’re doing well. Injuries are tough but all part of life’s experience. After more than half a century of athletics and construction work I’ve had my share of injuries. In my opinion athletics is about the mind/ body connection. That’s something I learned the hard way. Follow the path of your heart and savor each twist and turn. You have a wonderful companion in Lindsay to journey with. Best wishes and get well soon! 😎🍀
Thank you Tim.. such a good reminder, indeed. The mental aspect of being laid up is almost harder than the physical pain (that and I am unable to work and support myself). But I know that I will get through and I am surrounded by a loving and supportive group of friends and family (and my sister bike🤍🤍🤍)
I really enjoyed watching you to, I can tell you miss your riding partner Erin you two are fun to watch😊 keep up the good work you killed it on your own.
Awww. “Sister bike and 1/2” soldiering on although Erin is on the sidelines. Good job Tornader! Here’s hoping that after recovery, you and Erin will be trekking to even greater heights. Get well Erin. We’re all pulling for you. 🚴🏾 ❤️🩹
Gravel is great but I like feeling fast way too much to give up road. Plus, as a parent, I can ride road from my garage door in Portland, OR so it's way more efficient. "Real" gravel rides involve riding/driving a minimum of 2 hours to get there. That's a whole road ride for me most days. Speaking of Oregon, I enjoyed watching you ride in the weather we "enjoy" for about 1/3 of every year.
I still love the road as well, and I certainly agree with you about having to drive far from your home in order to access the best trails 🤍 Cycling is wonderful no matter what terrain… Lindsay and I have just been enjoying training for our endurance gravel events ;) Thank you so much for leaving a comment! I did travel to Portland a few years ago, and ended up having one of the coldest, rainiest rides of my life (but I have to say it was certainly beautiful)
Would love to host you (when you're recovered) and Lyndsay for a return to King Ridge and more spectacular mixed terrain riding. It's even more enjoyable when you're not racing!
I hope you get back in the saddle soon, Yo, that music, the Zamfir Pan Flute with the baseline @ 05:15. That's on some Cafe Delmar vibe. Artist and title please; I need that in my life.
Such a great Jam right!!! The song is by OOYY and the title is "Ganja". I love all of their music...they have a vibe for sure! I hope I can ride soon too!!!
OMG ERIN! What happened? I just saw your video at the chiropractor and now this! =( And what happened with the Suarez gear, failed? I was thinking of buying a couple of things for winter, and I would like your opinion. Hugs Erin, I hope better soon
I’m going to edit together my injury video today so I will explain it all… but basically I severely dislocated my knee, fracturing my kneecap and tearing my MPFL ligament. It’s been really hard!!! As far as Lindsay’s Suarez gear, it didn’t fail at all. They had no idea it was gonna pour down rain during the race, and she wasn’t wearing rain specific gear (or rain proof gear.) Only A one piece skinsuit by Suárez, and then a long sleeve and a vest that she happen to have with her from Ostroy, and then a long sleeve windbreaker from Suárez. It’s still awesome apparel! Thank you so much Romina for your well wishes… I will definitely keep you posted on everything 🤍🤍🤍
Gravel makes being on the bike way more fun. Road gets you so caught up in the numbers and stats because there’s not much to pay attention to on a road ride. Gravel keeps things interesting with changes in terrain, and the scenery and lack of cars is amazing. Only time I have fun on the road now is on my fixed gear, nothing spices you a ride like not having brakes 😂
Agreed! I started out with track bikes and then progressed later to road/gravel and MTB. I personally love bikes in all forms, as each riding experience is so different depending on what terrain you want to ride that day...it never gets old and there's always room for growth!! Thank You so much for your comment and I'm stoked you are here!
I agree! That area is so beautiful! I really struggle riding in the rain (mostly because I cannot stand being cold) but I was so proud of Lindsay for getting out there and crushing it
yuuup, gravel riding ruins the love for road. The only time I ride road is when I don't want to drive out to the hills, or when I want to do a mixed ride -- start on the road to warm up, then end with gravel. Also, the thrill of almost dying -- when you get too close to the edge of a cliff, or when your tire goes in a rut and it throws you off balance and you have to jump off your bike or else eat it real hard --- makes the ride that much more fun.
Yeah, I still very much enjoy riding both terrains but Gravel does give you that feeling of escaping the city… so happy to have a fellow enthusiast on here 🤍🤍🤍
My parents used to live in monte rio before I was born. Seriously gorgeous out in those woods!
Gravel ROCKS….literally. Great job covering for Erin. What a great friend. About the only road I do is the transition from gravel segment to gravel segment.
@7:10 so how long are these time segments? Hah..12m. Lovely vid! And yes..definitely prefer a backroads hilly ride over a flat road! Get well Erin!
To “Tornader”, bravo! Nice commentary and footage. Erin was with you in spirit. 🌧 🚴🏾 👏🏽 ❤️
Hopefully I can be there in real time shortly...lets get this knee patched up!
Great ride coverage of the grasshopper… Get better Erin!!! I’m sending you healing vibes.. ✨🙏✨
Thank You babe. The community on my socials has been amazing and it means everything right now xoxox

Hope you get better soon I look forward to your videos about recovery. I have wanted someone to document that but few people do it for some reason.
I really enjoyed watching you to, I can tell you miss your riding partner Erin you two are fun to watch😊 keep up the good work you killed it on your own.
Nice video Tornader. Not easy to film while fighting hills and rain.
Well done Tornader/Lyndsey good racing. Sorry to hear of your injury Erin, get well soon.
Thanks David! We both appreciate your support!

Ouch! that sounds painful Erin :( thanks for all the Suárez explanation. All the love for your recovery
Nice, great ride. What 32's did you use?
She ran the Bontrager R3 Hard Case Lites TLR 700 x 32mm tires

Get well soon Erin. Sorry to see you miss the race. In the mean time perhaps we should try the ATV.
How did you come up with the name Tornader?
gravel all the way!
Did you injury yourself on the bike? Good luck with your recovery.
No actually, I was working and I fell while carrying a chair and the leg on the chair dislocated my knee...such a freak accident
😒😒😒 Recuperate, y rapido, cuidese mucho!!
Damn riding in the mist seems dope.
