  • The Mazda MPS, is one of the cars I never got the chance to drive, despite being a motoring journalist, so when Philipe, who owns onw asked me if I would like to check out his 2011 model, I of course jumped at the chance, and here we are with the video.
    Being 11 years old, it is is fair shape, but needs a bit of attention on some small items, but it was still fun to drive.
    We made it up without any issues, and I found it to be a lovely car to have.
    Do watch the video, and let us have your comments.
    Thanks for watching, and don't forget to subscribe.

    Expected you to be more surprised about the torquesteer! Your footwork is impressive. The car has nice tires, it dosen't squeal and the car seems flat while cornering.

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I am quite used to torque steer, so have learnt how to adjust to it. The main issue is how to put the power down - maybe a bit lower tune could have made the car a little faster.

    Thank Mr Phillip and thank ys Kong for that awesome drive.. 😍Well after watching this video I think I'm fall in love with mazda mps! With that huge torque climbing genting is like driving in a flat road! No stress at all for the engine to handle.. By the way how much the market price nowadays? 👍👍👍

    • @chaikianhee841
      @chaikianhee841 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Prices range between 60k to 100k depending on the condition and the mods. I just sold mine a couple months back and is now feeling the regret after watching this video.

    Nice drive uncle!!. Between this and vw gti which one more fun to drive, more power and hold the value?

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The GTi is not as powerful, and is more refined whilst the MPS is raw ppwer, and the fact that it is manual males it more appealing. Car makers should consider more manuals for sporty models.

    • @princesssolace4337
      @princesssolace4337 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If u want attention, recognition, status symbol ... u better get a Golf GTi.
      Everyone wud think u are in a 1.6 Mazda3 GL and you'll get bully by poverty spec Mercedes/VW/BMW/Audi and Civic1.5T owners
      Mazda3 MPS gives u none of the above but smiles for miles and 99% you'll get a pass at JPJ/PDRM roadblock.

    I wish they designed turbo cars to have their own separate oil reservoir, cooler and pumps. The turbo heats up the oil and destroys it and the engine gets this heated up oil.

  • @fuzagi

    why blip the throttle when the car jerks so much letting off the clutch?

    • @lsx646
      @lsx646 ปีที่แล้ว

      with these turbo cars the throttle response isn't as good which is why he has to blip it even after rev matching.

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Blipping the throttle is rev matching. The clutch is a competition clutch.

    • @princesssolace4337
      @princesssolace4337 ปีที่แล้ว

      High torque 2008 direct injection turbo engine have a high risk of premature gasoline detonation when spirited driving if u don't blip when down shift.
      Might as well do it even when u are using RON100 fuel.

    why are your shoes on the wrong feet?

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOL - it's the optical illusion caused by the wide angle lens. I had to switch to wide angle because of the tight confines in tbe footwell.

    • @YSKhongDriving

      This is an older Mazda engine

    • @lsx646
      @lsx646 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YSKhongDriving its actually a Ford engine that Mazda worked together to produce but the 2.3 was already in use with older gen mazda 3's so the engineers thought a turbo would be the solution for its new hot hatch sport car lol

      Mazda6 MPS gets u a 4wd 6MT
