This was early early days in his stand up career.
I think the most interesting part is how much of his voice is an "act". This is much more of his natural voice. But he's played up the "old timey white guy" voice to aid his "character".

That's one of my favorite jokes of his, because it's so accurate. "Guy who while being questioned by homicide detectives, won't stop unloading crates."

He mentioned it in The Top Part along with some others. The only other one I remember though is, "New York Bartender who remembers everyone. Homicide detectives walk in and are like do you know this girl. He says yea came in last week. They ask if she was alright. He says yea but guy she was with was weird." Then he jokes about how that must be a shit bar in New York if he remembers everyone.
Why does he progressively look younger and younger as he gets older
Because he learned how to dress himself and presumably his wife let him know about the wonders of face lotion.

John Mulaney is definitely one of my favorite, if not my absolute favorite, Comedian.

Matt Goodwin Thats really an opinion I don't have anything against any of those comedians but the only person you listed that I enjoy watching is Louis C.K. and even so I don't think he's in my top five.
I prefer Eddie Izzard, Patton Oswalt and several others Including Mulaney. Its just a matter of preference comedy is personal like music you have your rankings and I have mine.

Yeah, Bill hader described him as the funniest person on earth and even funnier to other comedy writers. Dude is brilliant in the opposite way that Kevin heart is funny. Funny to look at vs funny to listen to
+microbe mcman Kevin Heart does is an attitude comic. His cadence is hilarious and he's a good ball. He has punchlines, but he doesn't necessarily need them to be funny. It's a different kind of funny than old school stand ups line Mulaney or Senfield. Both work for me. Just depends on what mood I'm in that day

I've watched this clip so many times. And now I must go watch some Law and Order!
The sheer joy of everyone at this show at 1:41 was overwhelming.
This dude actually makes me laugh out loud.Such a rare thing in comedy.
It wasn't the crowd, it was his situation. A lot of this material is from his Comedy Central Presents special and his comedy album "The Top Part". If you listen to those, you'll notice that he really takes his time on these jokes and speaks a lot slower. In Just For Laughs they only give you 5 minutes for your set, so they simply had to work with the time they were given as best they could, and timing is EVERYTHING in comedy. With all that said, it just made for a really average performance.

What is stranger to me about two people getting the eyes, is that it means that either two people with one functioning eye each got a new eye so they could have two functioning eyes, OR two people with no functioning eyes could only afford one eye each, in both cases instead of one person with no eyes getting a complete set.
My first thoughts too. Was waiting for him to say something about that. At the very least was expecting him to say they each have Jerry Orbach's eye, rather than eyes.
freudulant To be fair, I now realize it's also possible that the hospital system might not have a lot of donors and would rather give people the option to allow people to take only one eye for a discount, to keep their stok up.
Err. More likely for people to damage a single eye than require/be suitable for both.

Fun (for me) and loosely related story.....in 3rd grade, my one class out of the whole grade was so crazy good with spelling (idk, fuckin' nerds) that we didn't just have a "special" group for the "Advanced" spellers, we had a separate "Super Advanced" group of spellers that had so often gotten 100% on all our spelling tests since ever...our spelling lists every week were all comprised of words with 15 or more letters, AND we had to know the definition too. This 3rd grade group got split up for the rest of primary schooling, but the FOUR of us still had crazy complex spelling tests until we outgrew them being a thing. This seemed normal to me, and even the other "non-super" spellers...and then I moved to a "normal" school where it was iNcReDiBlE that AnY 3rd grader would have had antidisestablishmentarianism (with the definition) on their spelling list and I was just like......"no? smart people get harder assignments. that's normal."
......but as I type this up, 20+ years later, I now wonder if it's too late to sue my primary schooling over, obviously and intentionally, decreasing some of our scores for our grade levels with harder topics with no official "AP" or whatever designation that our assignments where meant to be harder than our peers.
