    Tim, you really do make me want to retire from my industrial electrician job and spend me days working from me tractor. I hope you know how well the Lord has Blessed you. There’s a ton of aggravations getting equipment to and from jobs and all the maintenance on the equipment (I was self-employed as an electrician for years so I have some experience with all that) but, in the end it is something I long for again. I live the life vicariously through your videos! Thanks for all you and Ms. Christy do to bring these videos to us!

    That episode reminded me of the camp I attended as a child. Camp Elim up by Woodland Park Colorado. It is amazing how much impact these types of camps have on kids as they begin and even continue their journey with the Lord. It has been 30 years since I attended my church camp an yet every trip I take to Colorado, I find an excuse to run by the camp and see what has changed and what is the same.

    On a more serious note, I recently regraded some of our front yard (the driveway culvert was lower than the dirt on the outlet side so it always sat full of water and I realized our garden expansion likely went right through where the water drains) and completely forgot to use the project to justify this box blade setup. It wouldn't have worked anyway, but it would have been an amusing conversation with the finance committee.

    Don't.know the layout but consider making a pond or primitive swimming pool near the end of the swale. Can be a place to teach swimming, water supply for fire fighting, nature area, or recreation. As a pond a few picnic tables with big trees for shade ( tarps and until they get big) would give a pool of Betheda ambience to it.

    Wow, 0.4% slope is very low! “Best Practices“ suggest 2% minimum slope for positive drainage. The water will move very slow and it’s exceedingly difficult to be that precise even with concrete! That’s less than 1/16” drop per foot! But you’ve optimized the conditions with the best available technology.
    I have the same challenge on my property and I still don’t have any ideal or obvious solutions. It rains 75” a year here. I’m pondering a collection pond to intercept the drainage from beyond my property and using the spoils to create mounds for orchard trees to keep their roots drier… I’m trying to avoid a drainage system to sumps with sump pumps.

      Take a look at the thumbnail. Moving a much larger amount of dirt with the box blade than I could with loader.
      Also, very hard to stay ‘smooth’ with loader. It wants to ‘dig in’, or ‘slide over’.
      Pull type box blade works wonderfully!

    Why didn't you make a small Swale and entrant and put in a 8 to 12 in smooth plastic pipe with manholes every so often to catch the water and it would look so bad it wouldn't have the heart place to mow and then when not have to wash down the side even on to win the ground and out of pipe over where it looks like he was running out over the hillside he also could make the standpipe from the pipe up perforated within the steel manhole covers on top of that or you can't even get heavy duty plastic just wondering

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  ปีที่แล้ว

      Anything underground requires maintenance. Surface drainage always prefers if possible.
      We were probably 3” below where we needed to be…but this will allow the swale to last longer, work better
