    Gorgeous! Thankyou for taking me there! My favourite is the jungly one. I love that it has been a long term scape and my favourite style is jungle. I love the naturalness of that type of scape. Should they keep the exhibit open.?Without question since Amano is longer with us. It is a very important work and as it turns out sadly, his last gift of inspiration to us. Keep on scaping George.

    Hi George! It was also my first time at Aquaeden and it is the best store in PT at the level of quality. Amazing and clean aquascapes 😍 I loved the first one (next to the door with that wonderful outside view of the mountains) and the 640L (great depth) with many species of fish, included gouramis😍 Thanks to Rui Alves for this opportunity! I have to run to see Florestas Submersas with my family!Cheerio

    I hope they keep Florestas Submersas up and running for many more years to come. It's beautiful.
    I enjoyed seeing the non-traditional Iwagumi style aquascapes. I have an Iwagumi style layout filled with unconventional plants and guppies (lots of guppies). It was nice seeing professionals doing that as well. That being said, the largest (and oldest) tank in the store looks amazing. I love the grown in, jungle look with the emergent growth. Simply beautiful.

  • @AquadesignAquascaping
    @AquadesignAquascaping 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Rui is one of the worlds top aquascapers. He's got his very personal style. He doesnt abide by the normal Aquascaping categories and styles. He will create a iwagumi hardscape and then turn it Into a jungle style, that larger Aquarium first time i saw it it was an iwagumi. Now its a jungle but its the same layout.
    He will build an iwagumi using plants that makes you think nature aquarium, or design a nature aquarium that feels like an iwagumi.
    He is very passionate and addicted to perfection, his layouts are planned to the detail.
    After 12 years running as shop he as ammassed a huge amount of experience on how to run any type of aquascape and he always pushes the limits of what you can do with a planted aquarium.
    He will use plants in ways you wouldn't believe they should be used.
    First time i was there they had an iwagumi with a HC carpet almost 10 cm tick, anyone in the trade will say that it starts dying off underneath if you let it grow too thick, yet Aquaedens one look super healthy when it should not.
    You can see in those scapes you showed how some of the plants have expertly cared for to achieve some different than what you would expect.
    People will say different, but in portugal no shop gets close to aquaeden.
    In Europe, probably just green Aqua. And I have been Fortunate to see some amazing shops.
    As for florestas, it should stay forever but the logístics of that may not be possible.
    From the oceanariums point if view the problem is the space is used for temporary exibhits to bring people back. They have other temporary exibhits planned and need the space for them.
    Hope they keep it, but it be honest, it will only stay as long as it is profitable.

Perhaps a bit more technical info on how Rui maintains his scapes (techniques or tips) or a bit of an interview would be good next time (language differences permitting). Hi George, first off, i think that Florestas should stay as it is and just keep maturing, obviously as a legacy to Takashi, everything has a cost to run and that has to be taken into consideration ,but it would be a shame to tear it down. As for the favourite tank at Aquaeden, its a toss up between the Eheim and the classic Nature. The nature is usually my go to style but there’s something about the Eheim layout that stands out from the usual Iwagumi layouts that is a pleasant change with the stem plants. All the tanks looks great and really healthy by the way. Another great video and loving the outtakes pat the end . All the best,Martin

    For me I preferred the third aquascape. I'm actually not a rock person but I liked the way the entire display seemed to lean to one side. Often in nature rock ia actually pushed or folded over by techtonic action so the third display looked more natural in my view.

  • @shesellsfish
    @shesellsfish 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wonderful shop, all of the scapes are beautiful, but my favorite is the first one you showed, "not Nimrod." Why...because it is a tank anyone could have in a small apartment or house. It proves once again you don''t need a huge tank to have a beautiful scape.
    Of course I think the Ammano display should be permanent. The idea of it being torn down makes me quesy. It is the last great work of a master artist and should be left in place and honored as such.

    I haven't been able to travel abroad in more than 20 years but I finally lucked out last year and got actual permanent position instead of being forced to job hop so I'm thinking of saving some money to visit maybe Lisbon this year (or maybe Budapest).
    Admittedly this may end up being a pipe dream but this year I should actually have summer holiday sometimes in August - assuming I don't have to cancel it again. The roundtrip flight is ony about 200€ but that's only the small part of overall cost so there's that to consider. I wonder if I could find some local to show me around and rent a room for a week or so on UKAPS forums.
    Anyhow. Very nice shop. I think I liked the Eheim tank with Limnophila most. The classic woodscape was nice, too.

      Northie - So many wonderful places to visit and to see some amazing aquascaper and their work! I’d love to visit the Japanese gardens to experience Zen as they use moss in a way we don’t understand... but the creations are a work of art....

    • @Beregar79
      @Beregar79 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@M0DQO-BeachMobileDx Doesn't modern aquascaping have its roots in Japanese gardens and the concept of Wabi Sabi? Count me among those who would like to see them! Actually I was also considering a trip to Kyoto to see cherry blooms but no way I can travel there in late March - early April this year plus flights alone costs like 900€ minimum.

    And I think you were able to tell by the packed store during your workshop, that you’re highly appreciated among my fellow countryman
    From my behalf, it was a pleasure to meet you in person (finally), 600kms well spent, 2 hours of pure inspirational work and a pleasure to meet Sonia and Rui in the flesh
    About Florestas Submersas - it’s here to stay!
    I don’t think anyone dare think that OCEANÁRIO would neglect having Takashi Amano’s ultimate Masterpiece, a tribute to his life-time work, and abandoning the frequent followers that go there to pay tribute to the Master.
    Should that day ever come to be, us the people would not allow it. Peace. WORD.
    They just have to drop the “Temporay” term ( in “Temporary Exhibition”) for good...
    Hope you and Emma had a nice stay in Portugal, hope to see you soon, in the UK perhaps...
