There are several interesting moments in "Alien resurrection" but this gust wrenching scene is clearly the best scene in the whole movie. Sigourney Weaver's performance is just perfect.

There's something deeply violating about seeing all of these different, wrong-looking clones of your once living self.
I think just the disfigured one was alive, but yeah - that scene stays with you. Ripley 8 goes down the row, and you can see how the clones are coming into focus, and the disfigured one was probably the clone right before 8. (Haven’t watched it in a while if there are numbers on them.) Still, that disfigured clone is Ripley from Aliens and Alien³ - she just heroically sacrificed herself to end the alien menace, and then she wakes up like that. That’s tragically horrific.

I realize that the original Ripley was infected but even if they were able to secure her DNA it doesn’t make sense to clone the xenomorph from her DNA when there was plenty of the alien’s dead body parts around.

She was carrying a queen.
Xenos get dna from their host/carrier. Depending in the infected being the outcome is different. Additionally Ripley fell into a lava pit, probably not the best source for dna to clone

Not any, they can kickstart a colony by turning some host into a a ghetto egg. But it takes a lot of time and living materials to do so. The host will produce a queen and that will start the colony. The ones you are talking about are the Praetorians. And in some lore the predalien, but that is a loophole case.
Same thing happened with Star Wars, they tried to clone the movies and ended up with a twisted grotesque copy like 'The Acolyte' .

The movie was entertaining and haunting in some ways, it was also an impossible feet done considering she dropped herself into a vat the molten metal, therefore completely disintegrating her entire DNA and that of the queen.
Nope, she had blood drawn by the penal colony doctor Jonathan Clemens before she died. That is the dna sample that is used.
No she had he blood taken by the Dr. Clemens and that’s how they cloned her.
Blood samples were taken by Dr Clements and used from Fury.
Her blood was all over the prison and manufacturing area where she dropped into lava, therefore dna is present
The scientist in Resurrection explains they used blood samples from Fury 161 "on ice."

The Xenomorph queen's DNA has been combined with Ripley's, so the clone grows up with an embryo inside it
Ripley was cloned from blood samples in storage on Fury 161, which presumably would have been taken by Clemens when she first arrived.

Idk y Resurrection gets such sh!t. Yeah it certainly didn’t live up to the first two, but that’s HIGH bar. I still thought it was a really interesting concept to have her clones and mixed dna with the alien. It was a cool concept.

@@An-Eva-Enjoyer Yeah. I think Junet was too quirky a pick for this one and then Joss’ odd sense of humor has to be spun just perfectly to hit right. It was just two off the wall forces trying to work together and I don’t think they were ever on the same page. It needed some definite work, but overall is an interesting entry. I think it could’ve been amazing if it had just been tweaked a little and done a little darker. Junet is just too quirky and I don’t think that helped the tone. LOVE his other stuff and was excited to see what he’d do with this, but it just missed the mark with tone.

Naw can appreciate the 3rd and 4th Alien Movies but I like how grounded alien and Aliens was with its industrial complex and the highlight of the monopolized company prioritizing its profits over its employees!

What else we just missed is thatthe prequels are now showjng the very first images of the cloned alien queen. And yet here it is in ripley. Look at the works in david's experiments snd the very first queen in Romulus. Its the container of water and its her as number 7

This was the first alien movie i ever saw. I liked it at first until I revisited the first two alien movies.
Isn’t it crazy 200 years later, they’re still obsessed with using the alien as a bio weapon? Like against who? They never even came up with a reason to need such a weapon.

Remember in the first Alien when they cut the face hugger and it melted through multiple floors? Since all the clones have acidic blood, wouldn't this have melted a massive hole down through the space station?
Burning is a significantly different process than cutting. Burning converts most organic materials into various hydrocarbons as well as several other changes that happen during combustion. It is not unlikely that fire would be a way to mitigate potential acid damage.
