Wow, I have to say that your video essays have SIGNIFICANTLY improved over the last few years. Long gone are the days where you used to hold a camera up to your computer screen to capture footage. Now you're using crystal clear video and music files from a variety of different sources to get your point across, as well as some masterful editing. I guess what I'm trying to say is that this was extremely well done and I loved every second of it. You made some really excellent points that I had never even thought about before. I'm honestly kind of shocked you were able to play as much of the song as you did considering Disney's stinginess lol Awesome work, my cinema twin! :)

I absolutely love this essay! Someone finally gets it! I saw a video a few years ago where someone said that Tom Hulce sounded awkward and not that great when singing, and I couldn’t even think how this person didn’t get that, even if it was true (it’s not), it lends to how the character feels! Quasimodo doesn’t really get to voice his ideas or feelings to anyone but stone figures, but when he does, it is loud and begging.
In truth, while Rapunzel could understand him just as well (especially with her only desire to be to see lanterns), I think you miss out on another princess who would understand Quasi a bit more: Cinderella. Sure, she CAN go out into society, but given how she is dressed and perceived (as well as how far her home is away from the town itself), Cinderella has almost the same plight as Quasimodo. Quasi technically has the power and ability go out, but because of an older adult who has been caring for him for all his life, he feels powerless. Cinderella (again, while still conventionally attractive) has the power to make a dress, grab some shoes, do hair and make up, and walk herself to the ball (a ball she only wants to attend, with no intention of snagging a prince). It’s only when Lady Tremaine and her stepsisters take away that ability (not just by cruel words but in fact physically destroying her dress) that Cinderella loses that power.

Thank you so much for your kind words!
To me, he does sound kind of nervous when he's singing (probably because he was!) but like you said, that's not a bad thing and it makes sense for the character too. But like I said, regardless of flaws I love this song and his voice so much ❤️
You made some great points about Cinderella. To be honest it's been so long since I last saw that one I forgot about the similarities they share. Thank you for watching!

nice work. congrats, the algorithm pushed your video onto my feed. keep it up and "catch" those subs! I'd say your first point of improvement needed is a quality microphone, that will sound so much better and boost your production value/ first impressions of quality. keep going, your script, editing, and overall work is very good and I think you'll get a boom of new viewers soon if you follow this up quickly with another video.

Thank you for watching and thank you for the honest feedback. I do have a very good quality microphone (Yeti) but I'm wondering if maybe it's old and needs an upgrade. Either way, thank you so much!

Great video! If you haven't already you gotta check out the 2016 stage adaptation. It's based on the Disney film and has the same amazing score but it incorporates elements from the original book and it's more dark/adult. I do like the movie a lot but the tonal inconsistencies bring it down a bit for me, that being said it's wild that someone looked at the original story and said "let's turn this into an animated Disney movie" and its still as good as it is lmao

Thank you for watching! Yes I have seen the Musical adaptation as well. I love it too but for me despite the tonal inconsistencies, the Disney version is more nostalgic and dearer to my heart, but I love both versions for sure.
