I agree! It's a very cute moment. I think Clopin as a character is an entertainer through and through, a jester at heart who adores being at the center of attention and making other people happy. Oh sure he can hang people and cut their heads off because times call for it... But he'd much prefer to make everyone smile and laugh. He's a man who's capable of violence but not cruel. Someone who's kind and loving but will defend himself and his fellow outcasts from Frollo's oppression. Who knows? Maybe he does have a wife (or wives! 😂😂😂 I can imagine Clopin being a bit of a sexually liberated womaniser) and children in the court of miracles, but we just don't see them because it's not part of the story. You can imagine a much fuller life and entourage of friends and family if there was to be a movie about Clopin.

@@daleksaan935 I see it differently. Clopin indeed is goofy on a regular basis, but he's the king of the romani, and that's for a reason. When you look at him in The Court of Miracles, for how silly he is, he is also extremely charismatic and has the energy of a true leader. And the two versions of The Bells of Notre Dame introduce us to a much more serious side of his personality, hidden underneath the clowny exterior. I could definitely, in opposition, see him use these two aspects of his personality to make himself the voice of the oppressed. Phoebus never stroke me as a leader in any kind of way which is part of why this speech never seemed to fit him well to me, whereas Clopin absolutely is one, he perfectly understands how to handle a crowd, as seen in both The Court of Miracles and Topsy Turvy. He would know what specific words to use to make them fight Frollo. Plus, I feel like this would have been a lot more symbolic to have Clopin, the gypsy king, lead the crowd in that moment rather than Phoebus who's honestly never been oppressed (on top of having only just returned to Paris and not having been shown to care much about neither the city nor the cathedral).
