    I use lumetri to create day to night in Adobe Premiere Pro. This effect can only be pulled off well if the sky or direct sun like features aren't captured during the shot. Enjoy!

    Thanks a million really appreciated that saved my life worked out perfect no need to reshoot mines was not only day to night but the actors hair was grey in this shot but bald in the previous earlier that day so I turned that to evening it took away the grey hair and also matched with my sequence and made the over all shot which was a head shot kill shot look even more realistic. Transitioning into a evening to to 5am time laps amazing thanks again. I also used your guidelines with my own discretion and referenced my night time shot to get a better idea and feel.

    If the sky is in your shot you can just do some sky replacement. I feel that's important because it's pretty difficult to shoot an entire scene without getting the sky in your scene. I'm glad I found this video though because I'm new to color grading and don't fully know what I'm doing.

    I'm making a short film for a class that takes place in a convenience store at night. Unfortunately, I won't be allowed to film inside the store at night and the huge windows at the front of the store make it very clear that it is day. Would night for day work in this scenario, or will it look weird with the other light sources on the inside of the store?

    • @AdobeMastersOfficial
      @AdobeMastersOfficial  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the problem with a scenario like this is that it will also correct the internal lighting. The typical night time convenience store look is a very large contrast between the florescent lights inside, and the darkness outside. So just converting it down to blue might not work so well. Maybe shooting so the windows are never really scene might help. You could shoot some outside shots of the building at night, then when it cuts inside just try to only show where there are no windows. Because of the initial setup shots outside at night, the audience will automatically assume it's night. As long as you don't give them anything to prove this notion wrong, they will never be the wiser!

    Can this also apply to interior settings? What I mean is I have a location where I can’t control the lights, but my scene requires it to be dim or dark. Can this effect work in that situation?

    • @AdobeMastersOfficial
      @AdobeMastersOfficial  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel like yes it would work well here. This is because there is no sky you have to correct for. So inside should give you lighting that can be turned to night.

    hi does this work if there are people in the scene.

    • @AdobeMastersOfficial
      @AdobeMastersOfficial  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should work. However you may need to make some additional adjustments to make sure the skin tones are good. Also with lighter skin tones, you will need to make sure they aren't in the direct sunlight, as the reflection may look a bit unnatural.

    • @AdobeMastersOfficial
      @AdobeMastersOfficial  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      EDIT: Person who I replied to deleted their comment. He had said "he does this for the ad revenue". My Response: Not true. Atleast in my experience. You only get extra ad revenue if you do mid roll ads (the ones that cut you off in the middle of the video to roll an ad). I think they break the learning environment too much, so I sacrifice any revenue from them. The video is 11 minutes because that is how long it took me to create it.
