What if the zipper goes all the way to the bottom how would you shorten the coat?

In that case, u have to unstitch the zipper, trim and hem the bottom fabric of the jacket then sew back the zipper in place starting from the bottom. To end trim the excess part of the zipper leaving just a few cm to secure both sides with a few stitches. Or u can remove the zipper and apply buttons or fasteners to make the closure of the jacket.

I was thinking that too! buttons would be easier or the Velcro like you did! I’m not as skilled as you haha thanks so much!

@@kiracipkin228 I didn't feel to recommend the velcro because it may turn out a little annoying. If you're not very skilled yet I definitely recommend to trim off the zipper close to the sides hem of the jacket so u don't need to unstitch it and to use sew on or snap fasteners, like Ø 17 mm or Ø 21 mm 😉
Let me know how it goes 🤗

@@aboutclauthes how would one go about trimming a zipper, does one need any special tools?

What type of sewing machine are you using?

Hey, I have an old Vigorelli sewing machine, just a domestic electronic/mechanical type.
